Who here used clomid?
What were your results? How many months did it take for you to get pregnant after you began treatment? If you took it and conceived, did you have a singleton, twins or more? I am just curious before I start. Thanks!
I was diagnosed with PCOS and I took Clomid for...I think 5 or 6 months. My doctor ended up adding Metformin (Glucophage) and I got pregnant the next month. We had one son and then 20 months later we had a daughter with no meds whatsoever. Go figure. Good luck!
Thanks! My doctor said that my FSH and LH ratios were off. He said that could be the sign of PCOS, but since I have no other symptoms, he thinks it is unlikely. I am praying that this will work. Of course, I am still awaiting the results of the hubby's test.
I had low progesterone 1.4 (it should be 12+ to get pregnant) my husbands test was normal and after the procedure to see if my tubes were clear I took 1 cycle of clomid (100mg). We have boy/girl twins that are 14 months old now! Best thing I ever did after 2+ years of trying!
GOOD LUCK
That is encouraging news! I have two coworkers who used it and it didn't work. My hairdresser took three months to get pregnant with it. I am just beginning to wonder if my husband's results will ever get back.
ekp,
I have always been irregular, and I was not ovulating, so I started on Clomid. While on my second doseage, I was diagnosed with PCOS so I started on Metformin. I was on Metformin for about a month-1.5 months and I did my third and final phase of Clomid when I got pregnant. As far as I know (unless one is hiding), I am carrying one baby. Good luck.
I have a similar story...I never had regular periods, was diagnoised with PCOS when my husband and I started trying for a little one, I started Metformin for 4 months, then added clomid for 3 months and ta-da now I have a beautiful one month old little girl. I was worried about the multiple birth thing when I started clomid but we had a singleton...
good luck:)
Wow, I am glad to hear some encouraging news. Irregularity has always been my problem, so if it worked for all of you, hopefully it will work for me. Now I just need to battle with the lab that seems to have lost his sample!!!![]()
My friend was on it for 4mths when she fell pg, however she ended up with 'hyperstimulation' I think it was, and had an ovarian cyst that grew as fast as her baby! She was induced at 36wks for the baby's sake & had the cyst removed by keyhole surgery 6mths later. 3mths after that she fell pg again- without any treatment, unfortunately she miscarried at 12wks, but the Doc was encouraged that she could/would fall pg again with no complications- the m/c was just 'one of those things', and was nothing to do with the treatment. I hope all works out for you?
We have been trying for 4 years. I have been diagnosed with PCOS (with no symptioms) and tried Clomid on 2 different attempts. The first attempt: Month 1 - 25mg , Month 2 - 50mg , Month 3 - 75mg , Month 4 - 100mg. The second attempt, almost a year later. Month 1 - 50mg and Month 2 - 50mg. No luck on either attempt so my doctor is recommeding Metformin. So we will see what happens with that. The Clomid was hard to take with the hormonal/emotional side of things. I hope this information was helpful for you.
I am learning that clomid doesn't seem to work so well for those with PCOS. Still no sign of the hubby's test result. I am starting to wonder. The doc won't give me clomid without those results. How long did it take to get the results of sperm counts for those of you who had to do it?
It seems like the SA results came back pretty quickly. Maybe a week at the most.
I took Clomid for one month, under the care of an RE. We did an IUI that month. It failed. I also ended up with an ovarian cyst. This cyst led the RE to think I might have endo. He scheduled surgery. Turns out he was right. He lasered the endo. After I recovered from surgery the urge to have a second child had evaporated. That was January. I became pregnant without trying in May.
Good luck.
ETA: My husband's cousin was on Clomid when she conceived twins. I don't know how long she was ttc.
Wow, Juliemae! Well, the results were finally found. I think the lab definitely lost them. The doc is now on vacation. He will be back next Wednesday.
you can ask to be monitored while on clomid if you want to be (and personally i think you should be-- avoid a litter! then no decisions about reduction or trying to carry a litter to term. but thats me-- everyone has their own ideas.)
it will cost you the cost of the ultrasounds and the drs visits but its fairly common-- even when going "natural" rather than iui with clomid.
**luck**
(btw pcos here too. i have been experimenting and have proven my drs right-- without birth control, i wouldnt have gotten pregnant. now i know-- if i take bc for 2-3 months, i get 2 months of perfect cycles, EWCM and all. if the clomid doesnt work, try it. it has made me feel much better to know that i can ovulate, i just have to manipulate it. and that i hopefully wont need a whole lot of intervention for the next one)
We have been "not preventing" pregnancy for close to 7 years now and no babies. My husband and I have both been tested and we are fine. I am thinking that either we are not trying hard enough or maybe I should ask my doctor about Clomid. I wonder if that is even possible if we do not have a medical problem? I do believe that some people were put on the earth to do something else other than to be parents - maybe that is me? Any experiences with Clomid without medical issues?
Just thought I'd let you know- I've just found out my friend is 13wks pregnant with her 2nd baby- conceived without Clomid this time! There is hope!
Great news! I just started my first round of clomid!
Good for you! Keep us updated
Back in 1995 i took clomid for 3 cycles and i was taking 3 pills of it and got pregnant after the 3rd cycle with my son who is now 12. I have PCOS too and they told me i didn't ovulate. We tried again in 1999 to get pregnant with clomid again since we had had success with it before i went three cycles again same dosage and nothing. I had to take gonal f injectibles and iui to get pregnant with mydaughter who is now 8. I got pregnant with my son who is now 6 months old after losing some weight i had one period on my own last April (2007) and got pregnant with him all by myself no clomid no gonal f no nothing completely natural. So yes it can take several cycles to get pregnant some peopple are luckier than others and get pregnant first try with clomid with me it took something stronger to get pregnant second time. Good luck!
Clarice
I was on clomid for a 1 1/2 years. I got pregnant the first month I used clomid but sadly that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. We had to wait 3 month until we could start with the clomid again. I was on it for another 17months before I got pregnant and that time I was pregnant with twins. I now have beautiful 8 month old boy/girl twins!!!! I would definitely say you should be monitored by your doc while on clomid. My doctor checked meevery month with ultra sound to make sure I did not have any cyst from the clomid apparently it can cause cyst and without the monitoring they can grow and grow until they rupture which would not be good. He said that it was rare but all the same I didn't want to take any chances. Good luck to you!!!
