Who has used WII FIT as a tool to loose weight?

Quote  |  Reply

I just got the wii fit a couple of days ago. I know its designed so people can loose weight but has anyone actually used it and lost?

Just wanted to get a little insight on it.

i hAven't used mine for weight loss really, but some of the games and exercises definitely get me sweating. The toning exercises make me sore the next day, so I would imagine consistent use would be effective for weight loss.

Hi!

I've been using the Wii fit as a tool to maintain my weight for about a month now, and I think it is really useful to monitor weight and to teach the correct movements for some calinthesic exercises.

That said, I don't think it should be used as a complete replacement for exercise.  It is better than spending an hour on a playstation or an xbox, where you're just sitting down for that time.

The weight monitoring is really really useful, though!

Good luck losing weight! =]

I don't use mine nearly as much as I should but I love how it monitors my weight loss (and some gain Embarassed) And when I do use it I find myself getting a pretty good work out. Not as good as going to the gym but better than playing regular video games!

Thanks for asking this!!! i asked for one for christmas. It was my only request.

how does it monitor your weight?? does it work like a scale? or do you need to put the weight in yourself like you do on calorie counter? cause if it works like a scale then i'm not going to buy a scale. :)

I use mine 4 days a week combined with some running and workout videos. I've lost 6 lbs since I got it 3 weeks ago, but my favorite part is just the weight monitoring part and improving posture. Improved posture makes you look skinnier anyways.

The wii balance board works like a scale.  Its mazin' =]

It also monitors your BMI, if you're lazy (like me!) so you don't have to dig out the calculator. It uses this info, plus some athletic tests to calculate you're body age.

I hope it's possible to lose weight.. my mom needs to lose weight and she loves this thing... so I hope it does her some good :)

it gives you a wii fit age which I think they base off of balance.. I think that's pretty dumb... Just because I have terrible balance I had an age of 36... I'm 24!

I know the wii fit age is kinda dumb. It has me and my husband as over weight but his fit age is 10 years younger than what he really is and I am 15 years older than my real age. It isn't fair. But I was wondering if everyone thinks that the scale is accurate it says that I have lost like 6lbs pounds in the two weeks I had it. and it also weighs me like 7lbs less than my scale at home. What do you think?

I like it for the yoga and the boxing it is alot of fun!

You have to put the balance board on a flat, hard surface when you weigh yourself.  When I weighed myself with it on the carpet, I was 6 or 7 lbs less than I really am.  When I moved it to the hardwood, it was accurate.

I love the hula hooping and the running!  I put the Wii-mote in my pocket and sprint in circles around the room, haha.

yeah, we weigh on the linoleum floor and it's pretty accurate..

I love hula hoop too! Plus I like some of the strength training stuff, with the right amount of reps, and I love wii boxing! Even though it's not wii fit, it's still a great workout!!

I love wiifit.

The balance games are fun, but I love the yoga, strength and cardio exercises. I'm too embarrassed/lazy/not ready to go to a real gym and I don't have room here for exercise equipment.

I totally reccomend it is what I'm saying!

I love mine, I do the steps, and I love the feature that shows you your progress. You just click on a date on the calender, it will bring that day up the you click progress and it will show the person changing in size, I have gone from 158 to 124.8 in about 5 months and to see the change on the mii is great.

I weigh my self on it every morning. that way if it starts going up I can correct whatever it is I am doing wrong. I believe that it is accurate , my Dr has a digital scale and I weigh the same on both.  I like it so much that I bought my married daughter one for Christmas. [she wants one]. They are hard to find though.

Does the Wii Fit still have to be in front of the tv in order to weigh you? Our entire living room is carpet, but our kitchen is tile. Unfortunately, there is no way to see the television from the kitchen, and the scale is probably the biggest thing I'm going for here.

my family might buy the wii for christmas and if so im gonna try to persuade my parents to buy wii fit lmfao.

it seems like it would be alot more effective then how i excercize haha

I don't use Wii Fit -- but I do play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution)/In the Groove routinely.  It helped me to lose 20 pounds two years ago, and continually keeps me at a healthy weight.  I only have to play for about an hour a day and within a couple of months I had noticible results. ^.^

The wii fit board comes with little feet that put it above the carpet (if it's not too thick of a carpet)

If the kitchen isn't too far from the living room it should work, but it might be annoying as you'll have to run back and forth to the board.

FYI-there is a group trying to get started called "WII FIT". I noticed it the other day. Am thinking of getting it for myself also. My 61 yr old mom loves hers!

Hi so my parents bought a wii fit when i still lived there and combined with not eating sweets and drinking club soda with a little sprite in it instead of full on soda dropped my weight from 187 to 156 in about 2 1/2 months... thats 31 pounds guys! i did alot of rhythm stepping and a fair amount of stregth training, like the jack knives. Hope this helps.

Like my heart rate monitor, I use Wii Fit to help with maintaining.  It's really effective.
