laura-

hi, well it sounds like u had fun at the wedding, albeit due to the alcohol! lol ur so funny, that u were "too tipsy" but u dont say drunk! ha, i used to get drunk! no denying that!  sorry it was cold out, as i said, i hate going out at night dressed up when its cold, but it sounds like it was worth it! recovering the next day is the worst! i just would sit all day, watch tv, and eat like 10 boxes of saltines+cereal!

hows the work for the conference coming? when do u leave again?  i cant wait til thanksgiving!!

yea, it was tough, sort of, the erst of yesterday since i had a snack like an hr or 2 later, dinner, just proceeded basically and they had, no joke, powdered chicken broth, i just dont get it, its annoying!

im in a rotten mood, the constipation, im really NOT liking working out, i mean, everyone cant enjoy it and i sure am not, i dunno  what to do.  i continue to hope that it helps w my stomach, i know its important to be active to be healthy, i love eating and dont want to have to eat like nothing bc im not active, idk, myabe im just in a bad place rt now.

i made a spaghetti squash casserole w riccota and tomato sauce for tonight, hope its good.

sorry to unload, glad u had fun at the wedding!

Man, you're still having those irregularity issues? I'm really sorry :( It must be really uncomfortable! Like you told me, everyone has their days.. I really hope things will clear up for you! Just hang in there!

My day was pretty good so far. Though once again I'm like suuuupppper hungry. IDK what to do though! I want to give into it, but I'm afraid it's just 'fake' hunger. >.<

i wanted to write back quickly now as i wait for a participant to arrive because the image of powdered chicken broth had my mouth watering.

yuck.

you did such an awesome job yesterday...especially the part about being PRESENT at the lunch itself and interacting with PEOPLE even when your mind was pulling for you to focus on food stuff.  the rest of your family...let them eat broth.  YOU are making progress and it's so fun to see.

in terms of the tummy stuff...how could you NOT be frustrated?!! it's maddening that you can try so hard to make this situation work and yet still not see any results.  i'm so sorry that's been the case for you.  i think you should give yourself space to feel frustrated.  AND, i'll repeat, i think you need to find a new doctor.  in the meantime, see if it's possible to be mindful of your discomfort.  try to notice what it feels like in very objective terms...like pressure against your pants, pain when you lean forward, etc.  THEN notice the JUDGMENTS that you have about those physical sensations...."uncomfortable, can't stand it, etc."  try to make a distinction between what your body actually feels like and the labels your mind puts on those sensations.  this won't make your discomfort go away, but it may help give you some space from it.  our minds have a way of amping up physical discomfort in a way that makes it feel even less tolerable.

i've gotta run now...i'll hit you back with the rest later...

thanks guys

5 pounds away from a bmi of 20!

GOOBY- i tthink wait a min, think a bout it, when did u eat last, what was it, how active were u, maybe u R hungry.  ur at 20 or 21? im like rt there!

Laura-thanks for getting back to me! im too scared to go on the internet at work!

so true, the diff btwn how i may hurt, and then how i then comprehend those feelings.  its true, my stomach hurts and its bloated, it is sticking out more than normal, but im not fat, its 2 diff things.

I seem to be hungry like every hour or two, no matter what I eat! It doesn't matter if it's a piece of fruit, a cookie, or a 3 course dinner! My BMI is at 21, so I don't need to gain anymore. But I'm eating more now than I was when I was gaining. Like maybe 3500+. I really really don't want to eat myself overweight again :(

gooby-i hear u! Q- w the bmi chart, is it seperate for males+females?

also, 21 is really the bottom end of the ehalthy range, u know that.  i really think everyone has their own healthy weight, yes, somewhere btwn a bmi of 20-25, but anyhwere there.

also, bodybuilders could have a bmi of like 28 but be more healthy than anyone.

i also always hungry...

I know that actual BMI doesn't take into account genders. As far as what's 'normal', I think it does differ slightly with genders. Now I'm not sure how exactly, but I know it does.

I know that 21 is still at the lower end of the healthy range. I naturally do have a pretty small frame - I always have and I always will. So I think my body is pretty satisfied with where I am now.

Yeah, I know about bodybuilders. My dad does that kind of thing. He's a inch or two taller than me but weighs ~175-180 compared to my weight of 135.

Ohhh man, dinner was a total disaster! I always make a bit extra food for leftovers during the week, only I ate it all before I could even think about putting it away! And then my dad pulls out this cake/sweetbread thing, and I ended up having a couple pieces. Then I had what was left of the chicken breast on my dad's plate (he didn't want it). So in total I ate more than my dad and already pig-of-a-brother combined! I don't seem to be craving anything in particular, just anything I can get my grubby hands on! I haven't felt this out of control in a long time :(

Sorry for rambling on and on about that....I really had to get that off my chest.

so youre younger and im thinking more active than ur father, diff metabolism

i really think u were hungry for dinner.  i know how u feel.  every time i write on that stupid food cranving thread, i go to the kitchen and like a robot get to the trail mix.  we do stop eventually.  i have to force myself but i think were hungry.  idk,  it is scarey, i agree, but i dont think our bodies r 100% quite yet.

my parents have the worst eating habits, we went out for lunch yesterday and that was their only meal! it makes things super tough, ignore ur father's eating, ur a diff person! try and put it behind u ifu can, just move on as if nothing happened,  u can have those feelings, its alrt, now u move on.

Yeah, you're probably right. IDK why I have to compare the amount I eat to the amount other people eat. Ughhhh!!! >.<

Yeah, I felt really ravenous before dinner. Usually I don't let myself get like that, but I can't keep up with my appetite! It's interesting how you're going crazy over trail mix... I used to do the same! I swear, they put some kind of addictive chemical in there haha. It's hard to let myself eat that much because it's even MORE than I was gaining on. But you might have a point about our bodies not being 100% yet.. Maybe there's something in that trail mix you're body really needs. Maybe carbs or protein (assuming there's nuts??)

I find things like that to be really hard to deal with.. I see living breating stick figures at my school eat nothing but a cookie all day, and they're as tiny as heck! You're right...I shouldn't dwell on this constantly... =/

If you are really constipated you will be more than 5lbs away from a BMI of 20, once you go a few times you'll weigh less. Tongue out

Besides which, a BMI of 20 is skinny, nothing to worry about... It may be a big step mentally but not physically.

try to hang on in there meryl is right . i think this constipation isnt helping at all . to be quite honest perhaps to much information i really hope you go soon . have youy considered a supositry? hope ive spelt that right. h x

You eat wayyyyyyyy too much fiber.

the more you eat like that, the worse you'll get clogged up.  Fiber should be 20-50g max.  A major complication with extra is constipation.  Especially if it's such a huge % of your intake, and really especially if you have a condition like IBS or a bowel disorder.

Oh man, I feel so bad for you, I've been there in that position. That's why I recommended the tea, its better than the Senna tea, it has other things in it that kind of calm the stomach into taking a dump. If It doesn't happen soon you're going to need colonics or you'll explode!

16. agruskin
Nov 10 2009 21:12

sopositories, enemas, lax, the meds for a colonoscopy-NONE work on me! i think my ass hole close, 4 real-sorry tmi!

SPUNKY-lol, what should i eat then??

GOOBY- i compare too, its hard not to, then i just tell myself that theyre jealous of my eating, idk

17. bsh0611
Nov 10 2009 22:00

agru - ok, the same was happening for my brother. do you have the ability to go see a chiropractor? I know they're fundamentally for "back problems" but sometimes "alignment" issues promote bowel problems and blockages. being anxious about it also holds things back - as if you could help it!

18. spunkysmiles
Nov 10 2009 22:23

What can you eat?  Um, don't pick all the high fiber stuff?

Regular breads, english muffins, muffins
regular cereals [nto fiber kinds]
Regular snacks [crackers-many varieties there!, chex mix, pretzels-flipz are great btw, teddy grahams]
rice, pastam, etc.

I'm not sure if you were serious in your Q, but really...just walk around the grocery store and pick non fibery stuff and let your system heal! At least if you want to stop beating your body up.

Then you can experiment with adding fruit, veggies, nuts, on the side and build up til you find the level you can tolerate without getting all clogged up and miserable.

BSH-i never looked into one, idk, i hate doctors, they dont help! i went a little, sorry tmi, but im like in even more pain now it seems.

SPUNKY-yes, serious q, idk what other ppl eat, i mean i see ppl post theyre foods here but i take the whole site w a huge grain of salt if u know what i mean...

i go to a gastro, i have IBS-C and acid reflux, and a slow colon or whatever, he said to eat lots of fiber+veggies.  no nuts? holy cow, i live on those.  im really serious, almonds for AM snack, trail mix, i wouldnt know what to eat, i cant have a lot of dairy either, yuck!?

20. bsh0611
Nov 11 2009 12:56

AGRU!

ITS THE NUTS!

I was driving home from microbiology lab last night and it dawned on me - when I eat nuts, trail mix or PB it really backs me up and if that has been your craving of choice that might be it!!!!! I'm not sure why, nuts make some people go, but they block some people up!

21. laura916
Nov 11 2009 18:08

bsh: i'm confused.  didn't you respond to another thread saying that fats, like pb, make you "have to go?"  there was a suggestion that you add pb to your bagel in the AM and you said you can't because pb makes you have to go??  does it work differently for you at different times?

22. bsh0611
Nov 11 2009 18:17

Laura - YES! It does. If I have fats in the morning - and you have to understand I HAVE to have my coffee with my breakfast so I don't know if that is a factor, even though it is decaf - I get crampy, BUT if I have nuts and/or PB throughout the day, especially in the quantity in which I WANT to have them, I will get backed up. The fats in the morning wasn't so much the PB as I'm not big on PB in the morning. I have IBS and when I STARTED the weight gain it was bad..... so it may not be the same, I'm just cautious.

And usually I hate having to justify that I like light cream cheese better... as in, the taste.

23. bsh0611
Nov 11 2009 18:18

One more thing - my PB/nuts constipation problem usually occurs when I have it with something else, and it is worse when I've had any alcohol. I'm not a huge drinker so this can be as little as a half a glass of wine.
