So, last night I went to the gym to take my yoga class. It was the first yoga class that I have taken in years, and I was so excited about taking it. So I stop home after work to let my crazy monster dog out (I should have named him Frank - for Frankenstein), get changed for the class, go downstairs to grab my yoga mat from god-knows-how-many-years-ago, and discover that some furry rodent friends have made a good meal out of it. Ugh!
So now I'm irritated. But I am meeting a friend at the gym to take the class with me, and I don't want to let her down right? So I go. In the parking lot, there's a girl getting out of her car, and I stop to let her cross (because I am considerate like that), and she gives me a nasty look and shakes her head. Excuse me? Would she have preferred that I hit her? Apparently, I just totally inconvenienced her completely because god-forbid, my car was in her way. So, now I'm more irritated.
So, I go into the gym, and it is so crowded that there is barely room to walk back to the lockers, and very few machines open. Which is fine because I am there to take the yoga class. Now I am looking around for my friend, who is supposed to meet me there. She's not there. I walk into the studio, and all the lights are down, and everyone is like, already in place on their mats. And I don't have a mat because the freakin' mice ate it in the basement. So I walked out of the class, waited for a machine, and did some cardio instead. Then on top of all that...I finally see my friend, who was running late, walk into the class.
But I am telling you that most of the people at the gym last night were just pissed off for some reason or other. My theory? They look great, but they're hungry, therefore they are cranky. Probably not true, but makes me feel better.
The positive points are that I a.) burned more calories than the yoga class and b.) ran out to walmart after the class and bought myself a new yoga mat and c.) burned another 100 calories shopping at walmart for an hour. I am going to try this again tomorrow.
Oh, and 1 lb was gone from the scale this morning too, so it seems as if my Geico stack of money scale listened to me.
funny post :) Glad everything worked out... some days people are just douches. Maybe it was the weather? Left over from the weather? Anticipation of future weather oorrrrr..... oh oh the full moon is around now yes? :) |
"My theory? They look great, but they're hungry, therefore they are cranky." Haha! Likely! Glad your scale cooperated! Good for you for not giving up once yoga didn't work out.. a lot of people would have been so frustrated and just walked out. Kiss those calories goodbye. :) |
i like to think that all the skinny ladies at my gym are starving and cranky too :) it gets me through my workouts. good job! |
Oh, it was hard to stay there and not let my frustrations get the best of me! Do you know what's keeping me motivated (besides all of you wonderful friends - thank you!)? The 10 lb pictures I've decided on posting. I keep thinking, If I don't get to the first 10 lbs...I'm never going to see the results! (Duh) |
That's a great theory! I like it! Ha Ha! Happy to hear that you had some good results after the talking to you gave your scale! Good for you for staying there and working out anyway.
