Tuesday

It's not been a good week. I've been really depressed and eating non stop. I managed to finally get on the bike yesterday morning for 30 minutes but just couldn't make myself do it this morning. I hate this. I know that if I get on the bike and do even 15 minutes I usually feel better but I just can't force myself to do it.

I'm continuing to log although I'm having more days over maintenance than under right now. It seems that I will do pretty well during the day then when I get home in the evening all I do is eat.

Mom is going in for surgery tomorrow. It should be fairly minor but I think maybe that is part of the stress/worry. I will be taking the day off and going to the hospital with her. Please keep us in your prayers.

I'm up 3 pounds from last week but I'm hoping a lot of that is due to sodium - pizza last night. I've got a plan for dinner so if I can stick to it I should have a good food day. Then hopefully I will be back down tomorrow morning. fingers crossed

Had a good day. Nutrition analysis looks great today (I actually stuck to the plan for the day which helps!):

Calories Expended 2606
Calories Eaten 1876
Net Calorie Balance 730

Carbs: 56%
Fat:23%
Protein: 21%
Sodium 2246 mg 98%
Dietary Fiber 61 g 283%

Exercise: 20 minutes
15 min - bike, 5 min - 30 each pushups, crunches, leg lifts

I should have gotten on the bike this afternoon but didn't. Instead I did some laundry, dishes and had some me time (read & watched some television) while Son was at practice tonight.

DH couldn't get the van to start yesterday so tonight he went to get a new battery. We got the new battery hooked up and the van still won't start so I guess maybe it wasn't the battery after all. We had hoped to be able to take it to work tomorrow instead of the car, if the roads get bad but it looks like it may be out of commission until the weekend when I can have my brother take a look at it. They are calling for strong storms/winds in the area tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully the wet roads don't ice over tonight.

Monday - Snow

EDITED: Major alterations occured to my planned meals. Instead of the dinner I had planned we headed out to the buffet. I chose mostly vegetables and some baked chicken. I did however also have 2 small desserts. I logged everything as best as I could and leaned toward overestimating rather than under. Anyway, my sodium was high (3500mg) as well as fat 36%. When I got home I got on the exercise bike and did another 45 minutes which helped give me a decent deficit for the day even if the nutritonal values weren't exactly what I wanted.

Got up and looked outside and there's SNOW! Not much just a dusting but it's the first snow of the season. It was verrrry cold yesterday (14 degrees when I got up) but warmed up during the day (around 40 degree F for the high). I guess I'll finally have to admit that Winter is here. We were having such nice weather up until just this past week that I think I wanted to keep denying that it was December and basically winter.

The day is at least starting out on the right note. I got up early enough to get on the bike for 15 minutes this morning and then did my now routine exercises (5 minutes - 30 pushups, 30 crunches, and 30 leg lifts). I've bee trying to do this each day now. It's the challenge this week for BLC and I think it will help me to start working on gaining some muscle.

DH also brought the Bowflex up from the workshop. So I plan on using it as well. I've got mixed feelings about it since the only place to put it is the living room but neither of us were using it when it was in the workshop. Maybe if I see it everyday I will start to use it.

I've got my meals planned so as long as there aren't any major alterations I will have a good deficit (around 750) and sodium under 2300 mg. Daughter has an away baskeball game to cheer for tonight but I'm not sure if we will attend or not.

Sunday

Yikes - I just logged the rest of my food for the day and I've not done very well. Sodium is almost 5000 mg and over maintenance calories by 300+.

I didn't get anything done today other some laundry. I had planned to get on the bike for 1/2 hour or so but didn't do that either. I've got to get myself back in gear. The scale had started to head back down but after today's sodium I'm sure tomorrow's weigh in will be back up.

I did spend some time today cooking for meals for lunches this week. I bought 2 turkey wings and cooked those. The meat will be for lunches (and some for soup) and the broth I will use for some soup for dinner one night. Plus put some in the freezer. I also cooked up some split peas. So that should help me with my protein levels as they have been very low the past few days.

Wednesday

Yikes! Time sure does fly by. I think I've finally got caught up on all of my forum posts and will slowly read through the journals from the past week that I've missed. I've been mia since last Wednesday when we headed out of town for Thanksgiving with the inlaws in Georgia. We had a great trip with wonderful weather. We also had lots and lots of delicious food. I was actually surprised that I only gained a couple pounds over the weekend.

I've had a hard time getting back in the swing of things this week. The busy schedule hasn't helped. DH & I took today off to take my Mom to see her Cardiologist in Louisville today, then Son had practice after school.

Tomorrow Daughter has to cheer for a home basketball game and has to be there at 5pm which will be pushing things since I don't get off work til 4pm and won't be able to pick her up until around 4:15. She may have to just hang at the school for 45 minutes which isn't a problem since there are usually teachers around and she can work on homework.

I did manage to get up the morning and do 15 minutes on the bike but didn't find (ok didn't make the time) this evening to do another 15. Hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in at least 15 minutes tomorrow as well.

Tuesday

It's not been a good past few days. I did something to hurt my back so I haven't been exercising for the past several days. I did manage to get on the bike this morning for 20 minutes and didn't feel too bad afterwards so maybe it's healing. I've been on my feet more due to the pain - it hurts to sit but standing is bearable. It makes work difficult since most of my job involves sitting at a computer but I just try to get up and move around as much as possible.

The weekend was a feeding frenzy - no logging and no control. Guess that's would explain the scale being up 6 lbs yesterday. It's slowly working it's way back down. We had basketball games last night and again tonight which doesn't help with eating. The family went out to Burger King last night - I finished up Daughters fries but didn't order anything. I had a granola bar and then a bowl of oatmeal when I got home. Last night's game was the Jr High and Sixth grade. Daughter is a Jr. High cheerleader and Son plays on the sixth grade team. Son was a little disappointed as he only got to play about 20 seconds but I think he understands that anytime he gets in will help him improve.

Tonight we have a chili supper before the game so at least dinner will be solved. We work the chili supper from 6-7:30 then will watch the high school game and probably get home around 9-10pm. At least we will have time to run home breifly to take care of the animals before the game.

Then tomorrow DH and I are off work and will get everything packed up to head to Georgia for Thanksgiving to spend with the inlaws. We'll head out right after the kids get out of school. I'm lucky to have my family live so close (we all live within a few miles of each other) so they will be taking care of the animals and house for us.

Won't be logging the rest of the week but will work on control and making healthy choices. I will also work on getting in some form of exercise while we are out of town.

I've been logging still but haven't taken the time to journal. This week hasn't been as good nutritionally. Lots of high sodium - high fat days. I'm managing to stay under calories (for the most part) but I need to pay more attention to keeping the sodium and fat content down.

Managed to get in 75 minutes of exercise on Wednesday but none yesterday due to back pain. I'm not sure what I did but my back was very sore all day. I was generally fine if I was standing but when I'd sit down I would be in pain. Not good since most of my work involves sitting at a computer. I did manage to spend several hours working in the warehouse doing receiving which helped since there I can stand while using the computer since it's on a high counter instead of a desk. After I got home I had DH help with dinner then I headed to bed early (9pm). This morning my back is feeling better (not great but better) so I did 30 minutes on the bike and hopefully will get some more in tonight.

Enough for now. I've got to finish getting ready for work.

Today's analysis:

Calories out: 2432
Calories in: 2178
Deficit: 254

Sodium: 3708 161%
Fiber: 41 164%
Carbs: 55%
Fats: 31%
Protein: 14%

Exercise: 0 minutes

Bad day at work then came home and seemed to want to eat everything in sight. Unfortunately that meant lots of junk - chocolate chip cookies, salty butter (light) flavored microwave popcorn. Rainy all day and cold so that didn't help. Unfortunately it's supposed to be rainy tomorrow as well so not sure if will get to go for our walk during Son's practice. Will just have to play it by ear. A drizzle I can handle - a down pour is another story. Will pack an umbrella just in case.

Almost forgot - today's weigh in: 241 up but I'm sure due to higher sodium over the weekend. Plus the chocolate chip cookies that I couldn't resist making (and eating!).

Today's analysis:

Calories out: 2782
Calories in: 1853
Deficit: 929

Sodium: 2232 97%
Fiber: 32 150%
Carbs: 55%
Fats: 29%
Protein: 16%

Exercise: 65 minutes (35 min walk & 30 min bike)

Stressful day at work. It seemed nothing was going right. Luckily it kept me busy and out of the snacks. After work Son had basketball practice so DH and I went for our evening walk. I've started looking forward to these walks. I'm not sure what we're going to do once they start cutting back on practices and games start. May have to make a special trip downtown to go for a walk!

Today's analysis:

Calories out: 2960
Calories in: 1723
Deficit: 1237

Sodium: 2809 122%
Fiber: 30g 151%
Carbs: 51%
Fat: 24%
Protein: 25%

Exercise: 60 min (bike evening)

Very hectic day at work but for the most part I think we were able to figure most things out and got things in line for Monday morning. No basketball practice so after stopping to pick up a couple of items we headed home. I had purchased a new "Chinese" frozen meal which we tried. High sodium but not too bad otherwise. It's a breaded chicken breast with Teriyaki Pinaple sauce. I served it with rice and some veggies.

It wasn't bad but DH and Son didn't really care for it. Daughter didn't try it but then she's not big on battered chicken nuggets anyway. We used to buy a General Tso frozen entree from Walmart that DH and Son loved but they stopped carrying it so I've been trying to find something similar. So far I've got 2 strikes. I liked this one but for due to the cost (I buy through Market Day which is a fundraiser for the school) and with the high sodium I likely won't get again since they didn't care for it.

Anyway, after dinner I didn't feel like getting on the bike but after reading some motivational forum posts and reading journals I found the motivation I needed to get moving. So I jumped on the bike and put in a dvd. I figured 45 minutes at a slower pace than my normal 15 minute ride would be beneficial. I ended up doing 60 minutes and at a higher speed than most of my shorter rides!
