Entry NYC, baby!

I have always wanted to go to New York City.  I was a total drama/speech geek in high school and dreamed of seeing a big Broadway show.  Well, I'm getting my chance to go in about 6 weeks...and it's not costing me a thing!  The hospital is paying for everything.  Damn, I love my job!!  Laughing

A co-worker and myself are going to the NAMSS conference in September in NYC and we'll be there for a whole week.  NAMSS is the National Association of Medical Staff Services.  We fly out of Dallas on Sept. 28 and we'll be back on Oct. 4th.

So, here's my fear...airplanes.

In March I flew to California to see my boyfriend who was attending the Defense Language Institute out there.  He's a Major in the Army.   Anyway, I got on the plane, buckled up and off we went.  Coming back it was the same thing...no problems.  I flew out there again in April...no issues.  Well, aside from feeling like the fat girl wedged into a small box.  Anyhoo, coming back from that last trip, I sat in the seat and the seatbelt wouldn't fit.  Argh!!  What the heck?  It fit the other three times...so I really don't know what the deal was.  My weight hadn't changed.  In any case, I had to ask the attendant for an extender and I was totally embarrassed.

So...in about 6 weeks I'll be flying again and I don't want to have a repeat experience...especially in front of my co-worker.  We'll be sitting side by side.

I found myself doing math (which I hate, by the way) in my head this morning as I was driving to work.

This is me talking to myself as I'm driving...(people must think I'm nuts...)

Okay Beth...7 lbs in 12 days...means you could possibly lose 10 lbs by Monday...which gives you 5ish weeks to lose another 20, maybe...but if you pushed it, it might even be more.  If you lost 25-30 lbs before Sept. 28, a lot of your clothes would fit and you wouldn't have to buy a bunch of new stuff...which leaves more money to blow in NYC...and you wouldn't have to ask for an extender in front of Tammy...so, if you're aiming for 1500 calories right now, why not aim for less and see if you can lose the 30 lbs...would going lower than that work?...hmmm, I could do that...no no no...that's not healthy...stick to 1500 and do the right thing...

And so it goes...the constant rumble in my head.  How I didn't have an accident is beyond me.  *lol*

Upside...because, I think there always is one.  We're staying at the Marriott Marquis, right in Time Square.  The conference is going to be awesome.  NYC is going to be amazing.  Tammy and I are a freakin' riot together.  And, maybe we'll get to have our picture taken with the Naked Cowboy!  Wink

I'm so excited...extender or not!

Love to all!

Beth

How exciting for you!!!!  I'm sure if you focus really well, you can definitely lose 20 lbs before you go.  Best of luck!!

Hi Beth,

I work in a hospital too, now as a Senior Manager Planning. I was recently Interim Director Support Services, which nearly burned me out. I know exactly what you do at work! But we have several staff covering your portfolio. But if you love where you work, it can be very rewarding. I love my work, but and have seriously cut back the hours to a normal work week, for the first time in over a decade.

I also have problems on the plane. Ugh, wedged like a sardine, the arms cut into my legs. I can manage with no extender but its damn uncomfortable. That's where I started to laugh when I read your post.

Our weight loss targets are similar, although your target is lower than mine.  I would be in heaven ay 175lbs.

You were the 1st to tag me...thanks

Dawn :)

Wow! Have fun in NYC!

I once couldn't go on a roller coaster b/c the bar wouldn't snap shut.  I had to get off.  I was mortified!

As the queen of crash diets, I understand the desire to lose it fast. Glad to hear you are choosing to stay sane ;)
