Entry Stuff

I took the kids to see my parents Friday night because Ryan had a show that ultimately got canceled so it turned into practice. We ate out at a Greek place and then watched old family videos of my grandfather. We picked Ryan up around 10pm with both kids asleep in the backseat. Once we got home, Emma woke up when being moved into her bed and refused to go back to sleep. I don't know what her deal was but the last time I looked at the clock before noticing she had passed out showed it was midnight. Then she fell out of bed (odd) and wanted to sleep in our room. I was irritated and made her sleep on the floor. Then she got up at 6am. So she's evidently having some sleep issues that we'll be working on starting this week.

My in-laws asked if they could keep Emma overnight on Saturday so we got some nice alone time with John. He's still really sick with a deep, congested cough that makes his face turn red and his eyes water. Saturday night, he woke up at 11pm crying and screaming with a 102 degree fever. He slept in our bed until about 3am when I couldn't take the heat radiating off him any longer and put him back in his crib. I've noticed since then that he's been rubbing his ear a lot so I'm worried it's infected. I'm going to give it until the end of the week before calling the doctor.

Just when I thought Emma was over this cold, she woke up this morning with a deep, barking cough. She says it hurts when she coughs and asked for medicine this morning (which is when I know it must really hurt). Other than that cough, though, she's fine.

We've decided to sell all of John's baby stuff. I posted lots of ads on Craigslist. Someone bought his swing and picked it up on Saturday morning. Some friends of ours who just found out they're having a boy in March came by that afternoon to go through all the stuff. They took a breast pump and tons of John's summer clothes and paid us $50 despite us trying to refuse it. I've gotten several offers for our Baby Bjorn. We're just taking all this cash and putting it in our safe. Out of sight, out of mind. Hopefully we can get rid of the rest of the stuff that's cluttering our house soon. I don't know if it feels better to actually get rid of it or having all this money from selling it. Ryan has two shows next week. One on Sunday and one on the following Friday. All that money (roughly $200) will go into the safe, too. Every little bit helps.

I'll be spending this week and next preparing for Emma's birthday party. We did some major cleaning this past weekend and will continue to do it so our house is presentable for Emma's family birthday celebration. I have some grand ideas for that one and am really excited to get started on it. I'm not doing much for her party for her friends. Just making some cupcakes and bringing some flavored water.

I'm having a hard time concentrating at work today. I have a pretty major headache (probably because of the weather) and I just don't feel like doing anything. The guy I share an office with is in the same boat. Of course, he has good reason since his wife is having a baby tomorrow. I, on the other hand, have no legit reason. Oh well.

Food-wise I'm okay today. Not super hungry because of this headache so I'll be a little under my calories for the day.

ETA: We cut John's hair yesterday with Ryan's beard trimmers. It took a while because we had to keep stopping when John became restless. We had let his hair grow for so long that I forgot how old he looks with short hair. This time, it's so light that he almost looks bald. I think his eyelashes are longer than his hair at this point!

No legit reason??  You've got two young kids, both with coughs - you ain't sleeping well!!  Take care of yourself so you don't get sick too!

Glad you are able to sell the baby stuff - I know how that feels!

That's great that you made some money selling your old baby stuff.  I just can't seem to part with Troy's baby stuff yet Undecided  I still want another one so I guess I'm holding onto it for that.  I would like a girl though...but not like you can choose!

Sorry to hear that both the little ones are sick, hope they get better soon!

Troy's hair is like John's if you cut it too short you can barely see it so I prefer to keep it a little long.  His dad always cuts it though despite my pleas to just get it trimmed...typical!
