I know that veggies and fruits wil give me an A rating. I ate a week of nothing but veggie soup! lol it was good for self disipline however! I know alot of things i didn't know when i came on here almost 2 years ago Nov14th. I am still trying to find out whether liquids, water, sugar free iced tea etc increase my metabolism or not?? I have tried googling this ?? but just get sent to so many different sites or ones that aren't medically inclined to professionally answer this ?? or just peoples chat forums. So once again dos any one know if Liquids increase metabolism??
I am trying to keep my proverbial barn door open to suggestions, since this is a site of support, motivation and the thirst for weight loss knowledge?
http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:http://www.ambafrance-do.org/weight-loss/13569.php this is the best way to explain why we don't lose, or plateau after along time on a weight loss plan! What i need other then exercising myself to death with my aching back issues is there no way to burn fat cells without sacrificing my daily calories...and end up right back where i started at the plateau!
OMG--that article was very depressing! I know that both my trainer and my nutritionist are very adamant about me not eating below 1600 calories--probably because they do not want my body to freak out and adapt! I also have to eat a protein and a carb after my workouts to build muscle (protein) and still make my body feel safe (carb!)...I sometimes forget this part and leave out one or the other...I guess it sort of makes more sense now! I have been drinking a lot more green tea and have found that I do seem to have a much flatter tummy, so I am thinking that maybe it does have some properties that plain water does not! http://www.apexfitness.com/html/atyd_newsletter/ Look at the 2003 articles on this site--there is one on hydration that might answer some of your questions on drinking liquids! |
drinking a cup of ice cold water raises the metabolism, but not enough for ME to worry about it. it's just a small amount of calories burned anyway. lol water is mainly just because the body needs it & it helps the body do it's stuff. |
That article shouldn't upset you. Whether you create a deficit through diet or exercise, it shouldn't be less than your RMR. The bad stuff he mentions would still happen if you exercised your way to a burn greater than your RMR. CC's calculator does not set goal calories lower than an individual's RMR. Use it or another reliable site for your goal cals, and you should be fine. Many people just use the calories necessary to maintain at their goal weight until they get within about 10-20 lbs. That way they end up 'resetting' their metabolism to where they want to be anyway AND they are used to eating that amount. I've read from people on here who have done that, gotten to with in ~10 lbs and sort of gave up but kept eating the same. Surprise...a year or so later they made their original goal. It's just sloooooow. BEB, sometimes I think you and I are in the same boat. Do either of us stick with it for long enough to really say it's not working? I know I don't...I give in to deserts w DH and church dinners, yada yada. I'll be good for a couple or 3 of week and then screw up. Read back over the posts and see how long either of us goes without saying 'oops, i blew it this weekend!' |
