Entry Changing Things Up a Bit
Apr 28 2008 17:03

So today I decided to give myself a little bit more time to rest between sets when I workout. It really helped a lot. I'm just curious now if it will affect fat burning negatively in any way. I've been shedding a lot of pounds from my gut recently and I don't want that to stop.

just don't go beyond 2mins between sets- you want to keep the pump/glucogen release, heart rate, and drive up-- the goal is to TAX the muscle to exhaustion at the end of the rep-- i've seen men & women w/amazing strength/size results with 3 sets of 5-6 reps at a MAX weight you CANNOT lift beyond 5 reps-- i mean by the end of the set, you have got to be wiped on that muscle... (oh try negatives too-- they work)

think of it like benching max's-- how you get there is by loading weights & not maxing on reps-- it's maxing on weights at LOW reps-- as you break down/build fibers for strength- same w/power lifting-- we're not there to repeat the rep- we're there to LIFT the weight--

so again- strength & size can be reached in similar albeit different methodologies & ways...
