Entry Spring Sprung
Apr 11 2009 14:39

Back after several months of gaining.  Starting over again.  For the past 2 days have kept to about 1200 calories.  Bought a bicycle and will start riding as soon as it warms just a bit more.  My Spring flowers were stunning, daffodils, hyacinth, crocus, and tulips--ordinary but beautiful.  Planning for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary a surprise party with my brother.   My mom called the other night and told me not to do anything for their anniversary because she and my dad are taking a trip.  Little does she know the party is planned for the following weekend.  I just said, "sure, Mom, no problem."  Teehee...

I am looking forward to reading everyone's journals.  So far, I just read Clairelaine's and you are doing so wonderfully and so close to your goal!!

I am back after a fat filled hiatus.  Gained 11 lbs over the past 2 months.  Just goes to show me that I can't not pay attention.  If I work hard, I can lose a little bit.  If I work a little bit, I will stay the same.  If I don't work at it at all, I gain.

I know a week before Christmas isn't the best time to try and get back on the band wagon but if not now, then when?  After I have gained another 5 lbs?

Oh, well.  It is like life, full of ups and downs.

Fortunately things are going well in my life so I really have no complaints and I am looking forward to seeing how everyone is doing.

I posted before pictures on my fridge and computer and phone.  I also bought a blouse, size L (12-14), I currently wear size 26 in womens.  I am going to hang the blouse up in my room where I can see it.

BTW, Fall is a good time to purchase a new bicycle because there are sales on the 2008 models as the 2009 models are arriving.  I am going to a reputable bicycle shop rather than Wal-Mart.  I want to get a quality bicycle.  I found a model I like, Breezer, a commuter bike.  It is pricey for me, $850 but it is an investment in my health.  Some people who race spend over $1,000 on a bicycle.

I am changing my Weight Watcher day from Wednesday to Monday because my hair stylist goes on Mondays.  She is a nice young woman and I am trying to make friends since I moved here less than a year ago.  She goes with several of her friends so I'll meet several people.

I have so much *blush* gas from all the stir fried veggies I have been eating.  Does Beano work anyone?

I am going to plan some fun rewards for weight loss milestones:

10% lost (28 lbs)  255 = New bicycle

20% lost (56 lbs)  227 = Birthstone ring, gold w/diamonds, manicure

30% lost (84 lbs)  199 = Full body massage, pedicure

40% lost (112 lbs) 171 = Trip to Grand Canyon

50% lost (140 lbs) 143 = Trip to Cedar Point or Kings Island with my niece/nephew

58% lost (163 lbs) 120 = New Wardrobe (Goal Achieved!!!)

These are all things I really want, especially the trip with my niece and nephew--that is probably the ultimate reward but I didn't want get a new wardrobe until I reach goal weight.

Well, Weight Watchers was the kick in the pants I needed.  I lost 6.2 lbs the first week.  Yes, I know.  Some of that is water weight.  But I did exercise 4 times just moderately like 20 minutes walks.  They have a point system.  I used all the daily points but not all the weekly points, just a few.

They have a new program called Lose for Good.  WW will donate a lb of food to a national food bank for every lb their members lose over the next 4 weeks up to 1 million lbs.  Plus our local office is donating to the local food bank too.  It is a win win and motivating program.

Not much news other than that.  Have a good evening!!

Added some "before" photos to this website.  I decided to join Weight Watchers since I don't have the discipline to do this on my own anymore.  I bought a monthly pass and my first meeting is tonight.  Time to get serious!!  When I was in college, I lost about 50 lbs on Weight Watchers so I know it is a good motivating program.  I am going to maintain this website as well as the Weight Watcher's website.

Here's to new beginnings!!

Everybody knows cats like fresh, running water....

I did it.  Figured out how to put photos in my journal entries!!  Hopefully, my entries will now be as interesting as some of yours.

My uncle is coming to visit today and we are going to a jazz festival in Lafayette.  Should be good, though a bit long.  Goes from 5pm to midnight.  I usually only like music events for a couple of hours.  But that is ok, my uncle doesn't come to visit that often.

Have a good weekend!

Hi, I've been MIA.  Two family reunions, one birthday (same day as Olympic Opening Ceremony 08-08-08!!), and one cat later, I am back.  About the cat, I finally am living with my 12 year old male cat Spike as my roommate's cat died.  He has gotten so affectionate in his old age, he even sits on my lap which he never used to do!!

New job is going well.  The Board voted to appointment me permanently as their executive director (I was interim the first month) of the Citizens Band.  Tonight is a Vintage Brass concert, a subset of the band from the brass section, and they are going to introduce me to the audience.

Today I went to a local Kiwanis meeting to thank the group for donating to the Citizens Band.  It was a fun and interesting meeting-they sing during the meeting and do the Pledge of Allegiance.  I am thinking about joining.  They have lunch together every Thursday.  It is a service organization that funds youth and other humanitarian programs.

My weight is holding steady at 270-275.  Haven't focused on it much this summer.  I have a vegetable garden though which got planted late so I am still waiting on tomatos and zucchini.  I expect the zucchini soon.  I over watered the peppers so probably won't get any this year.

I hope everyone is having a good summer.  I do pop into the journals periodically to see how you are doing.

Happy July everyone.  I have a new job to report.  I will be the director of a community citizen's band that has been around for 166 years!  It is only part time which is perfect for me.  I quit Home Depot last week.  My roommate plays lead saxophone in the band.

I also have a new (used) car, a 2005 Buick LaCross to replace my 1994 GMC Sonoma!

Weight loss is still going, slowly but going.  Taking advantage of fruits and vegetables this summer.  Also recently had rib eye steaks and BBQ chicken on the grill along with corn on the cob.  I am at 274 right now.  A year ago I was at 312.  So it has been a good year losing 38 lbs.  I hope I can lose more than that this year.

Life is good.  God is good!!  Take care and have a sunny and wonderful summer!
