BTW, Fall is a good time to purchase a new bicycle because there are sales on the 2008 models as the 2009 models are arriving. I am going to a reputable bicycle shop rather than Wal-Mart. I want to get a quality bicycle. I found a model I like, Breezer, a commuter bike. It is pricey for me, $850 but it is an investment in my health. Some people who race spend over $1,000 on a bicycle.
I am changing my Weight Watcher day from Wednesday to Monday because my hair stylist goes on Mondays. She is a nice young woman and I am trying to make friends since I moved here less than a year ago. She goes with several of her friends so I'll meet several people.
I have so much *blush* gas from all the stir fried veggies I have been eating. Does Beano work anyone?
Good morning! I think that it is great that you are building a support base and making friends. It is real helpful to have a support group. Some of my friends are skinny and dont need to lose wt and have no idea how hard it is to lose wt! Your idea of buying a blouse in size 12-14 and hanging it in your room where you can see it is a good idea. great for motivation! have a Great God week love, Karen |
keep that attitude! it's mostly attitude anyway, ya know? you just need to know you can do it, AND you can! :D i really enjoy seeing you so motivated! wow! that's an expensive bike, but like you said, it's for your health. i hope you do really well with the new monday meetings. don't worry about it if you weigh more. people normally weigh more on mondays because it's right after the weekend & that's when most people cheat a little. it all works out in the long run though. :D |
LOL! First reading I thought that said 'blueish' gas...I was really worried about you!!! And yes, beano can help a lot. I also found that after taking it every morning for several months (same gassy breakfast everyday) I was able to cut back. I absolutely LOVE my bicycle. It's a Giant Rincon. I think it was about $375 when I got it on sale ~10 years ago. Giant makes other high end bike brands but isn't a well known name. Hope you enjoy whatever you get as much as I do mine. |
I once got in an accident with a professional racing bike. The only part of the bike damaged was the wheels but it cost over $1000 to replace them because they were hand-built. Scary. The bike was worth as much as my car! Hope you have fun with your bike! |
I love your attitude. Say "Meo-low" to Spike for me. He sounds like a cool dude. I have lived with Oriental cats for ages then Sonny James arrived, starving, so we are unexpectedly in the midst of a teen feline again. We made him go get his adult surgery but it doesn't matter. A teen is a teen! Good luck with the Weight Watchers meetings. |
I think a support group is a great idea...even if some of you get sidetracked at various times it will still help to keep the idea out there. I bought a slinky red beaded dress off e-bay and hung it on my closet door. It fits me now although a few more pounds would really make it sexy! |
The beano will work. Also the more of the "gassy" veggies I notice I tend to have less gas. I think our bodies adjust. I like the idea of hanging the 12-14 shirt where you can see it. That should keep you motivated! The support group will also help. |
I ride my bike everyday and would not consider spending so much! If I was going to get a new bike, I would get a hybrid model made by Raleigh. I saw one I liked very much and it was around $300. The bike I have now is a Giant (Rincon model) that I bought in 1988. So it's 20 years old and although I've had to update the gear shifter on one side, and get new tires, it still goes great. Have fun picking out your bike :) |
I think it's great to have an article of clothing to 'grow' in to! It will be nice to try on that blouse every now and then and watch it get closer and closer to fitting! |
Great idea about the blouse! And congrats on the bike - so many times we as woman put ourselves on the big back burner and do for everyone else - I love it when I see someone put themselves as priority!! :) You are taking so many positive steps, you must just feel great about yourself! The only thing that works for me when I have digestion problems is pepto bismal - I get the chewables. |
How sweet is that picture. I bought a bike trainer so that I can ride my bike indoors on bad weather days. I love it. I think that a great idea to change your WW day. New friends and networking help keep you motivated. |
Yes, I also understand this is a good time to invest in a bike. Who cares if it is last years model, or this years? I think the idea of buying the smaller blouse as a motivator is a good one. Good luck.
