Well I decided to do the Couch to 5K program again, this time running outside. I did it last year on the treadmill and it went fine, but I found that I couldn't do much outdoor running. I figured that it was because of all the help you get on the treadmill keeping pace. I really want to be able to run outside for when we are on trips or when the weather is just too nice to work out indoors. So today I started with Week One, Day One. I'm using a podcast that I found to help me know when to walk and when to run. This first day went pretty good, and it was about 2 miles over a 30 minute period. I'm not logging this workout but if I were to log it, I'd probably log it as a 4 mph jog since that seems to be the average. Hopefully this will shock my body into dropping weight in a much more consistent manner as it has slowed down to a crawl now that I'm down to the last 20 pounds. I might add some calistentics for good measure if this old body can find the energy! Wish me luck!
I've heard of the Couch to 5K plan, and really want to try it. I already walk/jog a couple times a week, but want to get much heavier into it... You mentioned you did it once before already. In your opinion, how hard was it? I have the program outline saved on my computer, but I'm a horrible procrastinator and I have yet to begin it. Oh, the irony... Anyway, good luck! |
good luck to you! I tried c25k before. I was able to run for thirty minutes at the end, but I must go super slow because I couldn't get the 5.1 miles in that amount of time. It was still not really fun to run for me yet, and I got discouraged. Someday I'd like to try again and see if I can enjoy running. |
Zoo--Thanks for the good wishes! I think I'll need all the help I can get! When I did it before, I had no problems and was able to progress on the program mostly on schedule. I did reapeat one week (can't remember which one), but the rest of was just fine. I didn't think it was very hard really, but like I said, I used the treadmill the first time and that makes it easier I think. This time I'm doing it on the road. I think the podcast will help keep me on track. If you have an Ipod, you might want to download one of the free podcasts available. Lulu--I'd say that if you can run for thirty minutes, you've had a success! The distance isn't that important in my opinion, and if you keep at it, you'll be able to run more and more each time you go out. The really good part is that your legs get toned and I'll really like that because I'm planning on getting the bike out this summer and really enjoying riding it. I also bought a denim mini skirt to wear to a concert that we're going to in June. I haven't worn one of those in a long long time. I guess that's it for now! I'll try and check in tomorrow after C25K, day two! Until next time! TTFN! |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
