So, I've been true to my self-promise to partake in exercise every day this week! (Since Saturday). Was able to get a great yoga class in on election night (and was home in time to see the history-making results pour in, HUZZAH!)
I got in runs every day, even on the days when I had rehearsal. I'd do a quick change in the bathroom at work, dash to the gym, do my 3-4 miles, and dash onward to sing! I was a bit loopy most of this week, but it was more manageable than I thought! And our performances are next weekend, then no more rehearsals 'til mid-January, so December will be a piece of cake (or, rather, I can EARN a piece of cake, by running more. Or something.)
Have a terrific weekend all...

So, I had to add this to my journal:
FINALLY got my 3 mile run under 30 minutes! Finished on Sunday at 29.27! That is an all-time low for me!
I think I was awed and inspired by watching the NYC Marathon on Sunday morning. The elite runners are, admittedly, a bit, erm, intense, for lack of a better word, but at the same time, it just shows you: human beings are, overall, far more capable of pushing themselves then we usually think! So even though my lungs were burning that last two minutes, I kept booking towards a sub-30 minute finish! And I reaped my reward.
Training is going well this week; I've already got 10.5 miles under my belt this week, and I've got yoga tonight (voted this morning, so that's taken care of!!!) and a 4-mile run planned for tomorrow night.
I am really thinking my friend and I can do our 15k in under 100 minutes. Which would be GREAT, I think!
Post-yoga dinner for me, the bf, and a friend:
Grilled Shrimp and Chicken Salad:
Pan-sautee the protein with a tsp of olive oil and Greek Spices (McCormick's) and some garlic cloves. Set aside to cool. Add them to:
Raw spinach base
Cukes
Fat-free feta cheese
cherry tomatoes
Scallions
Add olive oil and vinegar! Delissshhhhh. :-)

So...I only got 7.5 miles in last week! Not what I had aimed for, but I got two good runs in, and one longer run, as well as two nights of yoga. That's not too shabby, after all, and yesterday began a new week!!
It's a short week for me, for good reason! The BF and I leave for vacation on Saturday morning, headed to Mexico. Can't wait. The beach, the food, the history, the water sports (love me some kayaking and swimming!), hiking, the spa...it's gonna be great! There's even two studios that have yoga on the BEACH every morning! Gotta check that out.
But I am off to a good start: did 5.5 miles yesterday afternoon, so if I do a 4 miler on Wednesday and 3 miler on Friday, I've hit my goal for the week!
Made an awesome salad for lunch yesterday:
a few shredded pieces of turkey breast, browned in a skillet;
handful of dried cranberries;
crumbles of this fresh, local (Jersey) sheeps-milk cheese;
1/3 of an avocado
threw all of it on top of a huge baby spinach salad, spritzed with olive oil and some lemon juice!
Delish!
Have a great day all!

I swear to God, there's an orange-chocolate muffin at Dishes that keeps calling my name every morning when I go in to get my scrambled eggs. It's out to get me, you hear?!?!??!?
So, I have a long run in my near future: I didn't get to run since Monday, and I've got 5 miles left for this week. Busy tonight, busy tomorrow afternoon...so I guess it's up early and at 'em tomorrow morning before I do some fall clothes shopping with my friend in the afternoon!
Well, the scale at home tells me I'm 183. My nutritionist's scale is meaner, and usually weighs me heavier. I am going to her next Thursday morning to weigh in before my trip! My BF and I are going to Mexico on a long-needed romantic getaway. CANNOT WAIT!!! (ahahaha, almost typed "WEIGHT") But, I am going to practice moderation while we're away, and we'll be swimming, snorkling, hiking, kayaking, and...erm...other strenuous activities every day, so shouldn't be too hard, aside from the booze. Me gusta cerveza.
So, I guess we'll see if I make my 12-mile total this week tomorrow. Wish me luck!

No running yesterday, since I took in a yoga class last night. Because of rehearsal (singing) I am going to miss my usual Thursday class this week, which is quite sad! I love the instructor and the class! But last night's class was great too; different instructor, same studio. The class is tough because this particular instructor (Tuesday's) works on A LOT of core-centric positions, and my abs hate them! Yet, they are good for me, of course. :-)
Anyway, the class was great, and I am sitting up straighter and feeling it in my torso today.
Off-topic of exercising, I made a delish salad last night for dinner for me and the BF:
- lean, top round, trimmed fat, steak;
- creminy mushrooms,
- 1 jalepeno,
- 1 shallot,
all sauteed in olive oil (I have this great bottle of REAL e.v.o.o that comes with a squirt top, it's great!), chipotle pepper flakes, garlic and parsley
Served over bed of raw spinach as salad, added 1/3 of a ripe avocado and some shredded cheese, and, voila, taco salad! The BF even put some salsa on his. Yummy! Want to try it with chicken or shrimp next week!
The plan for tomorrow is to get up BEFORE work, hit the gym, do a few miles so I can squeeze in my 12 miles this week. I've got rehearsal tomorrow night, so that's not an option! It's either that or I've got a 5-mile run to look forward to on Saturday morning! Eek!!
Have a great day everyone!

Well, did the 4 miles last night at the gym...plus another half mile! :-)
So, I've got 7 miles under my belt for this week so far; might have to get my butt out of bed early tomorrow or Thursday morning to do a teeny run (have evening engagements both nights), because I want to go visit my best friend and her new baby daughter on Friday night (a designated run night! Oops!)
If I do 2 or 2.5 miles one of these mornings, then another 2.5-3 mile run on Saturday, I've hit my goal for the week!
I am all pumped up; I went to my nutritionist this morning before work, and I am down 4.8 lbs from three weeks ago; this is good; I had to go back to her and face the music. I had gone from 223lbs to 168lbs in 2006; then I slacked off (bad idea!!) and went back to her last month, saw that I was 189.2!!!!!!!!!!!! Not good, not good. Didn't want to be 190 EVER again. Weighed in this morning at 184.4. Can't wait to get back into the 170s again. I have a feeling that my training is going to help me get back there... :-)
Have a great day all!
