Entry Cooking class
Nov 12 2009 09:05

Good morning all! I am excited. Tonight, I'm going to a cooking demo by one of my favourite Food Network hosts! Here's the class description:

"For Anna Olson, eating is about community and in her Food Network show Fresh with Anna Olson, she regularly creates mouth-watering meals that begin with inspiration drawn from local food producers and end when she shares the meal with family & friends. Tonight, Anna shares this food philosophy with recipes from her show, unlocking the secrets to cooking simple & delicious dishes from fresh, seasonal & locally grown ingredients."

The class isn't labeled as "Hands On" so I think we'll just be watching her cook and then we'll sample the food. I booked my spot about 6 months ago and I'm even going by myself so that's how excited I am to see this woman. I first started watching her show "Sugar" and the way she made desserts just fascinated me. I like her relaxed style of cooking and her use of local, fresh food, plus most of her recipes are healthy & easy to prepare. And I get a copy of her latest cookbook too!

So, I will have to report back about the class tomorrow! :)

I love Anna Olson too; one of the few Food Network hosts that doesn't irritate me in some way. She's great! Have fun, can't waitto hear about it!

Now THAT sounds like a blast! The goat cheese and sweet pepper gnocchi are right up my alley! YuM! Can't wait to hear what she made etc tomorrow. Don't forget to come in and tell us.

Thank you for all of your thoughts today. I'm going to print out your suggestions and see what I can tweak. Anything to bust through this last plateau. I'm just not sure what more to do. And I started the meditation classes again last week! I do hope that helps. I'm so close....

Have fun!!

Oh - I also wanted to ask you if you cut out caffeine completely. I only have coffee in the morning and it's a good beverage with the running stuff....but if caffeine has an impact, I suppose I could try canceling it for a bit.

Nope, I didn't cut caffeine at all. Every morning when I come to work, I brew my coffee & drink it in my Starbucks mug (about 500 mL). I only add unsweetened vanilla almond milk or rice milk and 1 packet of Stevia. I sometimes have an unsweetened green or herbal tea in the afternoons.

On the weekends, I usually just have one mug full of coffee with almond milk & honey. I might have a second coffee mid-afternoon on the weekends too.

So short answer made long: I haven't decreased my caffeine at all. I don't believe I've heard any evident of caffeine hindering weight loss (the real problem is what you add to the coffee).
