Yeah, I should have been back sooner, or better yet, never left.

Our church is starting a weight loss/exercise group and I am taking part in it and I have a goal of running the 5K next year and doing much better than this year. Not much to say, just getting back on track.

Hopefully.

5K coming up

Well that frickin' 5K that my wife talked me into doing is coming up. But I think I will do ok. I found the course online, mapped it out on mapmyrun and it said it was 3.1 miles. And the only reason I did that was to calibrate the route I did this morning. I did 3.22 miles in about 49.20. It was the first time I trained for it outside for a complete 5K, so I'm happy. Well there may have been no "Hill of Hope" there were some hill, but there also wasn't any "competition" so I think I can still do better on Saturday. It may put me in the hospital or the ground, but I think I can do better.

Almost quit

I got to the gym and about 15 -20 minutes into the workout (5K) I was thinking "To hell with this, I have no energy and stamina this morning." But I didn't quit. I just walked at an ok pace for about 15 minutes. Then I started running again. Then I started to figure out time and I was doing better than I had done. So I kept it up and did 3.4 miles in 55 minutes. But I did the first 3.1ish (5K) in 48:25. I was happy and glad I didn't quit.

Yep went to the gym. Would go into detail, but why? My wife is the only one that will read this and I can tell her in person.

Training for a 5k

I am starting my training for a 5K next month. I had planned to go to the gym and do the 5K program on the treadmill. Then my daughter wanted to walk to school. No big deal, we did that. So I still decide to go and do the 5K at the gym.

I push the button for the 5K on the treadmill. It asks what level, so I put 1. Well, wasn't ready for 1. It started out ok, but within a minute and a half it had me going 6mph. I can't do that yet. So I decided to do a 3.1 mile walk on there and gave myself 55 minutes to do it in. I through in some hills here and there and ran off and on. OK, a lot more off than on, but still. I finished the 3.1 miles in 51:41. So then I slowed to a really slow walk for the last 3+ minutes.

I did better than I thought I could. Hopefully in a month and a half, I can maybe knock 6-10 mins off that.

Work out cut short

So on Monday I figured out what my maxes were. So I figured I would work out fairly heavy with low (5) reps. I was going to do roughly 75% of my max on each machine. Man, was my math off when trying to figure it out in my head. I wasn't close on the first few. I was at around 60%-65% of what my max was. So that is what I went with for the rest of the ones I did. All felt good and it was a good hard work out. Until...........

....I got to the overhead press. The first set of 5 was fine. But as I was doing the second set I got a pain in my stomach. Not just anywhere, but where my transplanted kidney is. It felt wierd. Not a bad pain, but it felt really strange. I did the last set really quick and with very little ROM(Kinda like a really bad push up). I was going to go to the next machine because after that I wouldn't be "stretching" the abs, and I would just avoid the ab machine. But as I walked over there, it just didn't feel right, so I decided that the lifting was done. I was going to go walk for a while, but as the right leg moved that affected how the right side of my gut felt, so I opted not to do that either. I feel better now, but I can still feel it. It now feels like a muscle that has been worked out good, but that isn't how it felt when it happened.

Could I please catch a break with the health a overall pain(this, gout, pinched something in my shoulder X2) in my body?

Back at it.

Finally, the fat guy has returned to, the gym

I looked at my workout sheet and I haven't done weights in almost 4 weeks. And I thought I wasn't going to go today at one point this morning. I got that urge that I had to go and go now. Then I got REALLY nauseous. I blame that on my wife's pregnancy. She hasn't really gotten sick from morning sickness (Thank you God) so my theory is that she is just sharing the nausea with me, so she does get so nauseous that she actually gets sick.

But as I said I did get to the gym. I warmed up for 10 min on the tread mill and then did some very heavy lifting. I wanted to find out my max on the weights. So that was my "work out." It was hard work and I felt a burn so it counts. I was stronger on some machines than I thought, but not as strong as I thought on others. I then did the same cool down as my warm up.

Now lets see if I can get calories back under control.

So can I ever get healthy.

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I have gone from one thing to another. I got a sinus infection and then the flu. Then the sinus infection came back. While I was treating that I got sick and threw up again. Then I got heartburn terribly bad for a few days. AND THEN, I got gout for a few days. The combination of the gout medicine and the antibiotics gave me the runs something fierce. So my guts didn't feel good for days. I am hoping that now that I am off the medicines, that I will feel better.

And thank you to my daughter, Jadyn, for reading this out loud as I wrote it.

Feel Like Crap

I woke up this morning with a stuffy head with a pressure that feels like my head is going to explode.

I went to the gym though, for what it was worth. I did a really light workout lifting about half the normal weight for about twice the reps. That took about 40 minutes and then biked for 10 minutes. I didn't burn a lot of calories, but oh well.

Then I came home and had to eat. I wasn't hungry but needed protein. Eggs didn't sound good at all. I ended up eating some dry roasted unsalted peanuts. Not the best breakfast, but the best I can do at the moment.

Hopefully I feel better by tonight.

New Incentive.

I have new incentive for for eating better. My wife (the only one who read this) is pregnant. She really needs to watch what she eats as far as sodium and other junk food goes. She had a rough last trimester the last time she was pregnant because of high blood pressure and some other thing I couldn't even begin to know how to spell that started with pre. That, and let's face it, she's old. At least she must be old, she has been calling me old for over 5 years now and she is only 3 years younger than me. So you do the math.

Love ya honey.
