Well this weekend has been horrible. My parents had to put both of my grandparents in an assisted living home. Devistating in itself it took a turn for the worse. My grandma was in a rehab center from having a stroke and falling. When my parents showed up to take them to their "new home" my grandma flipped out and slapped my mom and scratched her face. We believe she may have dimentia. She told us that she hates us all and wished my mother had never been born so that none of us would be in her life. Many more hurtful things but for some reason my husband is the only one she will speak with right now. We're all in for a long road ahead. Needless to say I have been emotionally eating! :( I haven't been able to get any SI6 in this weekend at all. I did play a soccer game on Friday for 2 hours but that's it. I hope to get back on track tomorrow. I don't want to get so caught up in all this drama that I forget about what is best for me and my family (husband and kids).
I am sorry to hear about your grandparents. At least she'll speak to your hubby, it will help eventually. Don't worry too much about the days missed for SI6 just do them when you can get to it. Hope things get better soon for you and your family. |
I have seen alot of what you are going through, but not firsthand. I was a nurse supervisor at an assisted living facility for years. It is really hard for the elderly to come to terms with the fact that they are declining esp when they had been self sufficient the majority of their lives. As from what I have seen it will take a while for the resentment to fade, as family members you must remind yourselves that the best possible decision was made and that they are safe and well taken care of. Dementia is always hardest on loved ones, remember that those suffering form dementia never have the intention of hurting anyone. Like you said at this point you really need to care for your family, husband and kids... and especially YOURSELF!!!! As for SI6 you can always jump back in anytime, I took 2 days off myself... now I am back at it with a vengence! Good Luck |
