Today I came from school and went straight to sleep for hours and hours. I didn't even go to the exercise room because of this. Since I have 4-5 hours of sleep eveynight, is this the reason why I very have little energy? I have loads of hw to do everynight, I didnt't know middle school could be sooo hard!! Also, I think that when I come back from school and start eating like crazy(I probably go over 1000 calories) , I think that has to do with how little I sleep. I have 2 hours worth of hw tonight, but im still too tired to do it but awake enough to type this, cause its easier to do!
4 to 5 hours of sleep a night isn't good for anyone at any age, but ESPECIALLY for a tennage girl. Trust me, I know from experience (I'm 18 right now). You slept right after you got home from school because you were tired. Its that simple. And yes, not getting enough sleep on a regular basis will make you hungrier than usual too. You see, when your body is deprived of sleep, it gets tired more easily, and so it craves more energy (food) to stay awake. I know what its like to be LOADED with homework (I'm a senior and I just took ALL my finals this week), and it can turn into a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation and staying up late again to finish homework pretty quickly if you don't get a handle on it. I suggest you try to plan out your days ahead of time. Try writing down a checklist of things you need to do and how much time you feel you need to spend on them. If you find that you can't finish everything, don't panic or feel guilty, just try harder the next day or maybe make some adjustments. Make sleep a top priority because it will make everything in your life easier to handle if you get enough. I hate to admit it, but I usually don't get enough sleep either, and though I get good grades, eat healthy, and excercise, I cry very easily, I don't like to talk to people as much because I often have a hard time concentrating on the conversation so I feel stupid, I get stressed out and anxious over very small things, I get told that I look "tired," "worn out," "upset," etc. more often than I'd like, my muscles don't grow as quickly even though I work out, my work outs don't feel as good, my skin doesn't look as healthy-----the list coud go on. So please, take care of yourself. Your body and mind will thank you, believe me. ~Kate (P.S. : If you need help or just wanna talk, feel free to message me ^.^) |
Hi Coco From reading your posts I would say a big reason you are feeling so tired is that you are not taking in enough calories to sustain yourself during the day. If you do not eat right you will feel sluggish and tired all day not to mention that you will start to lose focus during class as well as while you are doing homework. Proper nutrition and sleep are VITAL for both daily function and weight loss and maintenance. |
We're about the same age (No, seriously- I saw your profile, it said your birthday was 11-20-94... I'm on the day AFTERWARD in the same year, November 21st, 1994!) and I know EXACTLY how you felt. That happened to me too. I'd have so much homework. I'd come in and fall asleep, I would wake up HOURS later, and then start it, because I was too tired to do it that night. The point is: Get ahead. You HAVE to get ahead for high school. The week before you start high school (Yay freshmen! :D) Go to bed around 9 or 10. It sounds early, but it'll totally be worth it. High school will definitely be a lot harder than middle school, and both of us need to go to bed earlier because I'd have the problem too. Also, get some more veggies in there. They keep you more awake. Don't eat the school lunches, bring your own, so they can be healthy and you'll know they're nutrition value. When you eat too much food, you'll get a lot more tired. When you don't get enough sleep, it slows your metabolism, and it causes you to gain weight. Just ask this question to yourself when you're ready to eat a lot when you get home from school: 1) Will this honestly benefit me? 2) What do I want more... this food, or a healthy life? 3) Am I going to regret this decision? |
wow thats the exact same thing i do too! i go to sleep when I first do my hw at night, then wake up at 3 in the morning lol ty |
