Entry Jul 13 2006 11:59

Hey all--I'm leaving for the week for New Hampshire for a family reunion/vacation....hopefully they'll have lots of fresh veggies :) At least I wont be at risk for eating to much--never do around a lot of people. Have a good week without me (I'll be back next saturday)

have a good trip.  sorry i missed your sensitivity to wheat... i can understand that and i can understand feeling out of control with *trigger* type foods... for me it's *cheese* like pizza and any *ice creams*

other good carb starchy type alternatives...

peas, carrots, corn, potatos & *legumes* like black beans, kidney beans, split peas, lentils, barley

in fact the *legumes* also have a good amount of protein in them too...

off hand... i had never tried them... but have so started loving *legume* soups... especially black bean and lentil and mixed bean soups...

1/2 cup ~ kind of a stew like consistency is about 135 calories about the same as eating 1 slice of white bread and 1 oz of chicken breast

(1 c = 270 cals, or about the same as eating a sandwich with 2 pieces of bread and 2 oz of chicken breast)

i was always leary of even making soups... but figured out it is really super easy...

open a can of broth, throw in whatever you want, add any spice you want... cook till all tender... & voila ~ soup's on!

here's a link of how i kind of fell into soup making... just in case you find it useful... ~ it's strictly up to you... & i do know that soup is more a winter/fall type food... i'm not eating much now over the summer at all...

a link on making soups ~ my anti-binge snacking favs!!!

hope this helps!

Have a gr8 time during your reunion ~ sounds like fun!  Safe journey.

I don't know how it is, but somehow, I find it easier to say "no" around other people?

It is when I get home, and am alone, that my hand reaches out on its own accord and pulls processed food down from the pantry, stuffing them into my mouth. Over, and over, and over again, even after I'm full.

So, that's good that you don't have problems overeating around other people. Have fun!

hmmm, I think I am now going to check out united's advice on soup-making.
