cystic acne and makeup
The best thing I've found is: (a combination of these)
-don't touch your face w/your hands or anything for that matter ( I always
get a nice ring of zits where I lean my head on my hand in class)
- use a 2%, 5% or 10% benzoyl peroxide nightly. Spread it all over your
face lightly. It works better in preventing pimples than curing them, I've
found.
-drink lots of water (sounds inane but does make a small difference. For
me anyway)
- eat healthy (you knew that was coming :)
- use 'noncomedogenic' (spelling?) makeups (supposed to not clog pores).
Double check the ingredients though - if mineral oil or some waxy or oily
substance is listed, that may clog pores anyway. Sometimes I put a thin
layer of 2% benzoyl peroxide on under my makeup. If your skin dries out,
moisterize it. Dry skin is vulnerable skin. Not good.
-I always break out around my lip when I use lip balm. Then it looks like
I have a big nasty sore, but I really don't, it's only a pimple! I now
prevent this by using medicated vaseline. I've had this tiny jar for 5
years now.
- some mousses or hairsprays can contribute to acne, where the hair comes in
contact with the face. I don't have any recommendations on good products
for this.
-when I'm stressed, my skin wages a war against me. It shows. Reduce your
stress level.
-get enough sleep
-you can try glycolic acid compounds - this works on me. But there are
people who said it makes their skin worse.
-try washing your skin with an antibacterial soap. I haven't done this
consitantly enough to see if it works.
