The leaves are really starting to fall, probably will only last another week or two. I've been trying to walk around outside more to enjoy. Today I'm gonig to walk home from work, taking the long way to walk up Beacon St. So pretty! (plus, I need to stop at Trader Joes for some grub). Last night I did something bad. Even though my shins were bothering me all day I decided to run with the City Sports run club. I hadn't seen my running friends in a bit so it was fun, but my run was painful, I had to walk the last 1/2 mile, which I never do. Afterwards they give out a free drink and I just had a shirley temple. Cals, yes, but no alcohol so I guess its okay. My friend Trish's roommate Danny was there, and he had a CUTE friend I was chatting up :) Actually, we'd been chatting for awhile when all of a sudden I took a second look at him and I was like WOAH he's cuuuuute!
Anyhow I am really worried about my legs. I'm still waiting to hear back from the doctor but I am supposed to get an MRI sometime this week, its likely that I have stress fractures. If I do I am going to have to make a call as to whether or not to run the marathon. My plan is that I am going to. I just won't run anymore until then. Hopefully my parents don't try to force me not to. Its been so demoralizng having this problem throughout my training. Randomly yesterday I bought a pair of compression socks and wore them to bed last night, supposbley they help divert lactic acid so your muscles recover quicker. Lets hope!
In other news, Phils are on tonight. I feel confident we'll get a win. Not sure where I will watch, Trish told me her roomie and that dude go to White Horse on Wednesdays for trivia and we could go there, which is cool b/c its realllly close to my house. Or maybe Brendo will call me :) I need to get out of my apt though- I am starting to really resent my roommate. More on that later...
Eats for today: EDIT:
bfast- oatmeal (bought from work) with a lil brown sugar and cinnamon. two coffees check.
lunch- lean cuisine, small spinach salad. actually had an apple with lunch, and a small nonfat latte.
pm snack- apple and a laughing cow light wedge with 4 baked pita chips, and also a handful of carrots with 1 tbsp bleu cheese dressing.
dinner- ? egg wrap (same as the other day, I made a few and froze them) and maybe 2 turkey meatballs in some sauce. going to bar, so prob 2-3 beers too.
take it easy!!!!!!!!!!!! I would hate to see you have to miss the marathon due to an injury, you have been working so hard! I have off and on knee problems. As soon as it starts to bother me I stop running for a week or so and do other types of cross training instead that are less impact (spinning, stairmaster) and I stregth train the muscles that support the knee. I usually find then when I get back to running finally I have stronger runs even though I took time away from it. Have to listen to your body, be careful. |
Yes I agree with morgan take it easy! I hope you don't have a stress fracture. Head to the doctor, take as much time off running as you need- and if you are injured- don't run the marathon. You don't want to really hurt yourself. 90% of running a marathon is all the incredible training you get out of it- so you are already a success! Don't worry too much until you know what the deal is- but definitely be nice to yourself. Bummer about the roommate sitch. I can relate to that- by the time I moved out of a roommate arrangement I vowed never to go back! I think I was stuck with roommates until I was 27 though... but when I finally did get my own place it was like such an incredible joy! I would encourage you not to wait if you can swing it. |
Oh geez take it easy on those poor legs! I'd say hold off on running until you get the MRI and know whats going on. Sorry to hear about the roomate situation. |
I love this time of year too, but I could do without all the raking of leaves. I agree with everyone, that you need to take it easy on your legs. I hope the MRI comes back with good results. Go PHILS!!!! We need to win this one. I hope you'll be waving your rally towel. |
