Entry woah big changes

Well, this weekend I went out and I signed a lease.  On a 1 BR apartment in the North End!  I am really getting high anxiety about it though:

Positives:
1. I talked with my roommate and she agreed moving out and breaking our lease was the best thing to save our friendship.  Yay- I was REALLY not expecting this to go over, but it feels like things are already better than they have been in weeks.
2. I LOVE the apartment.  Its really cute, although a bit smaller than my current place (it is a 1 bedroom though).  Another plus: huuuuge rooftop deck (common for building, but only had 10 units).  Great views =)
3. Washer/dryer IN UNIT.  omg. love.
4. much better location.  I love the North End, and its really got a neat city feel to it.
Negatives:
1. I have to pay a fee of 1/2 of a month rent to break the lease.  In addition, we are responsible for the rent until they find a new tenant (this could last until my lease is up in Sept- soooo scary).  I've listed the apt on craigslist myself to try to provide them with a tenant so this doesn't happen.
2. Moving fees.
3. I have to repaint my walls white.  this is shitty as we just painted the living room (accent wall) in August!!
4. parking in North End is really tough, I want to get rid of the car but my parents keep telling me to keep it. ugh, I don't want to deal with it!

I think until I get a tenant I am going to be completely freaked out.  Because its like, the company already has income coming in from it- ME- so what do they care to rent it out!?  This is why I will do my best to get someone myself.  But I listed it this morning and ZERO bites so far.  Don't know how long it typically takes them to come in...  EDIT: have a girl who wants to come by Saturday to look, wooo!!!

Okay, besides that the weekend was okay.  I went out friday, stayed in saturday, and watched a bit of football yesterday.  Ate about a pound of cheese dip, but that was pretty much it for lunch & dinner.  Today is my MRI @ 3:30.  Pretty much can't eat because I'm so nervous about the apt. thing.

aw north end is fun!  My roommate is moving there 12/1 and also needs to find a replacement tenant.  Not sure how easy that is going to be, its a weird time of year to be trying to rent.  Would your roommate have say in who moves in as well?

she's moving out too, so we're actually breaking our lease.  I think its going to be tough, our apt is in Allston and I believe it may be on the higher end of the price range- $1575 for a 2 br, but it is nice, so  I dunno.  I'm hoping we find someone!

I love the north end, my brother went to law school in Boston and lived in the north end the whole time, I loved visiting him. He had to get rid of his car though eventually- because the parking was horrendous. I would get rid of the car if I were you- it would be kind of stressful trying to park there. Either that or try to keep it elsewhere? Can you store it somewhere?

I hope you find a replacement tenant soon! Be patient with craig's list, it can take a while. Especially because it's the middle of the month.

Good luck with the MRI, try not to be too anxious! Everything will work out.

wow that really sucks with your old appartment, good thinking of putting it on craigslist though. Oh new appartments sound so exciting. I wanna move out of my parents house. Good luck with moving though.

Good luck with the apartment!! Money is so stressful.

I wrote a big comment on morganbclaw's journal thanking you for the egg suggestion, whoops! But thank you!

And yes, I'd love to motivate each other to get to the gym before school/work Tues/Thurs!!

I'm glad you are able to salvage your friendship. Moving out on your own is so adult! I'm excited for you. I hope you can lease out your current place asap, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

If your landlord lets you pay to break your lease they shouldn't be able to charge you rent for the apartment after you move out.  Check your lease to see what it says about breaking the lease.  Usually if you pay your last month's rent plus whatever the fee is to break the lease (in your case 1/2 a month's rent) you are free to go.  It doesn't make sense for them to charge you to break the lease and then to charge you rent on the place you're not even allowed to live in because you no longer have a lease on the property.  Just a little lawyer talk for you!  Good luck!
