When I get discouraged

Ok, I need to remember, I started out at 130. For a short person that's too heavy. And I was tired of feeling the rolls and the weight around the middle. My wieght was stuck there for months also. So I got serious. Now I need to remember, I have lost 2 pounds (current weight 128) which is great. I won't get to my goal weight overnight. If I stick with the program, I will get there. Right now my goal date seems so far away. I guess part of the secret of staying on the wagon, so to speak is "one day at a time". There is a negative voice in my head that says "you can't do it. You'll gain it back in a minute and you'll stay the way you are forever." I have to change the dialogue to "I can do it". I can be strong. (If I want this bad enough, I can do it.) I can eat healthy and I can persist in counting my calories. It's not easy, but I CAN DO IT!

Thai Noodle Soup - dare I love this stuff?

I had a big bowl of Thai Chicken Noodle Soup for lunch (rice vermecilli noodles, sliced thin chicken, bean sprouts, a little carrot and green onion in a nice broth). It seemed like a good choice amoung a sea of bad choices at the mall. The things is, I love this stuff! It just tasted good and filling and warm. Is it too good to be true? I guessed about 300 calories.

I walked my feet off at the mall but I got a cute pair of shorts, and a funky necklace. What has that got to do with dieting? It's a nice reward that doesn't involve ice cream!

don't skip a day

Hmmm. It appears that if you miss recording your daily calories for a day, you can't go back and put them in for that date. At least, I tried and couldn't figure out how. Yesterday was a good day, I was busy and my calorie count was only 1275 but somehow it got recorded for today. So now, today I don't know if I've been bad or good. Oh well, start again tomorrow. The good news (very good news) is I was down another pound. This is where I usually "celebrate" by eating (wierd as that sounds). I'm not going to do it. Now that I'm actually having some success, I want to stick to it. I'm motivated right now.

Veggies are my friend

I made homemade Ratatouille for supper with rice and garlic shrimp. When I plan ahead (especially for veggies) it works well for me. The Ratatouille was delicious, very flavorfull. Eggplant, fresh tomatoes, zucchini, red pepper, onion, garlic, basil..mmm good.

I lost a pound. Hurrah! What surprises me is that I can feel the difference. Just one little pound and I feel thinner! It's a great feeling. Very encouraging and makes me want to keep going. Especially since the scale didn't budge for a long, long time. I wasn't gaining but I wasn't losing either (neither was I really trying). But calorie counting is working for me!!! Finally.
