Entry Well, the test was positive!

The pregnancy test that is! I was late but somehow in denial... my cycle is like clockwork! I took an at home test, messed it up and had to take it again. I did the second one in the bathroom at work while everyone was eating their lunch one room over. By the time I did what I had to do, recapped the test, put it in my pocket and got back to my office, it read positive! My husband had been in the loop this whole time just waiting by the phone. We're soooo very excited. We have two boys already who are 13 and 9 so starting over was a bit of a shock but each moment that passes, we grow more excited about it all. We told our kids after I took yet a third test (to satisfy my husband). They covered their eyes, were guided into the bathroom and once they lowered their hands they were left with only a positive test sitting in front of them. Our 13 year old was so happy... our 9 year old not so much. He claimed that he didn't want another "person" in the family. By the next night at dinner, he was already coming up with names and his excitement really was shining thru those big blue eyes of his!

So about two weeks before my cycle was to hit, I was deadly tired. Literally passing out by 7pm on the couch. My poor husband ended up watching just about every show on our dvr twice because I could only cover the first half before my eyes shut down for the night. I also got some leg cramping and regular cramps as if my period was about to start, all normal for the beginning stages of pregnancy. These days, I'm still exhausted. A bit nauseous. And rather nervous. My last pregnancy was 10 years ago! This pregnancy I hope will be a joyous and healthy one! I want to continue with working out for 4 days per week, with a walk on the off days for at least 30 minutes. I will eat at maintenance + for the first trimester. I will add an additional 200 + for the second, and a grand total of 500 + more for the third. I want to keep in shape for this whole time to assist with labor, delivery, and post-baby! Of course this is the plan, things change! It's good to have goals though and I will try my hardest to stick with it. I purchased a pregnancy workout dvd this week and eagerly await its arrival. I worked out the morning I found out of the pregnancy and just this morning worked out again, only 2 days off. For the moment I'm only doing the Slim in 6 (hang in there, don't shout at me yet) Start it Up program which is 25 minutes long and really tame. I don't do the parts where the movement are "fast" just sticking with slow, steady movements. This basically consists of step touches with legs, plies, lunges, squats... all the moves I've read are great for supporting the pregnant body. When she moves to push-ups and ab work, I grab my five pound weights and do 2 sets of 10 reps each bicep curls (one arm at a time), upright rows, and overhead tricep extensions (also one arm at a time). Then I stretch and move on for the day. I barely break a sweat and my heartrate doesn't touch where it used to!

So that's that. First appointment is on Tuesday 7/15. According to our calculations, we'll be delivering around 3/9/09. No epidurals please!

Congratulations!  What happy news.  And to already have your "lifestyle change" planned out! (I refuse to use the D word.)

Good luck :)  Keep us up to date!

Sounds like your all ready for this. Way to go. I only gained 25 lbs during my pregnancy. I am back to pre-preggo weight and she is only 8 months old.
