It's back. The deals with myself, the magical thinking about "tomorrow" and the lack of excersise.
But for how long? Is this it? Am I doomed to gain it all back? I've put on 14 pounds. But worse than that, I've put on 20 years of excuses and lies and shame back into my daily routine. What the fuck is going on?!
maybe it's the rigidity of thinking? A perfectionist nature that insists on strict rules? Bend in the breeze. Life ebbs and flows and it's ok. Sometimes you will eat more, sometimes less, sometimes you will exercise more, sometimes less. Sometimes you will gain a couple, sometimes you will lose a couple. That's natural and normal. It's only a problem when you are upset with normal and try to change it through rigid controls. Give yourself permission to just be and to like what that is. Tweak rather than control. May not apply to your situation. But I think you should consider it. Food and exercise are not punishment and reward. They are simply a part of life. It's ok to just be freaky and happy. |
Hey Keith, Hang in there with the weight loss effort.I know it can be very frustrating because for awhile there I wasn't losing anything, either. What kind of a schedule do you have? Mine has been pretty hectic and I've luckily been able to lose 25 lb. but it's just been fortunate,I guess.Maybe jannid was right...too much rigidity?Try not to be too hard on yourself because for awhile there I was pretty hard on myself and I couldn't lose any weight and I gained some and felt quite frustrated.I hope to hear from ya soon:) Tese |
From what I remember (months ago?), you lost more than enough weight, so the 14 pounds probably isn't a big deal. But I get what you mean about the excuses creeping back into your life. The only thing to do may be to just do it. Just exercise as if it's the only thing to do, or an appointment you must keep. Obviously your health is important to you, but it is also important to your family. If you are feeling guilty about working out, try to remember that. Then, you will also be setting a good example for your kids. And after you workout, when you're feeling that natural high that comes from pushing yourself and succeeding, you'll remember why you wanted to do it in the first place. |
it is not all or nothing. if you have an unhealthy lunch, it is not an excuse to blow the day. you will have bad food periods it is just important to have a limit of how far you will let yourself go until you get back on track. be accountable for the 14 pounds. you know how you gained it - you know how to lose it. stop counting your calories by the week/month start being aware of everything you put into your body on a daily basis again. exercise has been your key to losing weight, but food is the underlying addiction. you might have reached your body weight goal, but it is too early to master a healthy relationship with food. start over. regulate what you eat, count calories, cut out or portion problem foods. if you know the drill. you are in control - empower yourself with knowledge and tools. you have already shown yourself you can do this. |

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
