Well that was a fun little trip off the wagon. I have to be completely honest here - I have been on a low-calorie diet since October without losing any weight. I am really starting to get frustrated.
I am so, so happy to have lost 25 lbs. by counting calories, but I would like to lose the last 20 lbs. to get back to a healthy weight.
So, in some sort of trilogy of frustration, laziness and lack of healthy food options, I had a complete binge weekend.
Talking to my mom on Sunday night about my frustrations, we decided that I should go see a doctor to have my thyroid tested and see if there was anything that could be preventing me from losing weight.
And of course, I'm back on the wagon and back to exercising. And while I really don't want anything to be wrong with me, it would be a satisfying explanation of why I'm not getting out of my body what I'm putting into it.
i think seeing an endocrinologist is a great idea. good luck! also, you might be one of those people who does better cutting way down on fats or carbs - the sort of "one size fits all" diet has worked for you for a while, but now it's fizzled out - maybe, if the the thyroid results are normal, you could try switching things up with your mix of calorie sources? |
I have a consultation with my regular doctor Monday, and I'm going to have her recommend an endocrinologist. I have my calorie log all the way back to November in a spreadsheet that I'm taking with me. If they don't find anything I'm going to really up the exercise, and maybe try raising my protein intake/lowering my carb intake. I have lost weight with low-carb diets in the past, but I always gain the weight back once I start eating carbs again. Still, to drop like 10 lbs. before the wedding would be awesome, even if it eventually came back :( |
