weight watchers
Dec 03 2009 23:28

See full size imageWell my weight has not been stable for some time now and I was thinking about joining weight watchers. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this org. and can give me your opinion.  Does it work, or is it just as good as just plain ole counting calories.  Truth is I need a little motovation, and thought that being around people with the same goals as me and actually weighing in front of a person would keep me in line and make me do better.  I know WW goes by a point system but what do those points mean?  Anyone know?

snow tomorrow?
Dec 03 2009 19:43

yes. the weatherman said maybe snow for fri( on the weather wed) now they say yes virginia there will be snow for friday. yippeee... 2 years in a row. the only thing Is I will have to worry about hubby trying to get home after work about 3pm tomorrow with all the idots on the road that don't know how to drive in snow or on ice. ugh. hopefully all the idiots will call in sick or stay home tomorrow. you watch there will probably be 1000 wreck for all the people driving 90  mph on the ice and slick roads.( it will probably make the natl. news.) on the good side. if it snows I will get to play in it.!! yippeeee. they say possibly 3-5 inches. yipeee... ( all you northern friends, and mountain friends where it snows..... we southern folk get pretty excited at the mention of possible snow. especially as far south as we are ( just north of houston). we may only get it every 15-20 yrs or so. the last snow I remember seeing firsthand  in texas( before last year) was in 1993 around march just after my birthday. so see we have something to get excited about.   on the food front.. I am not doing as well as I should be.  I think I have picked up a few lbs on vac and thanksgiving.  I am getting back into my exercise( trying) and have joined a thread  of folks committing to exercise for dec.  most are comittiing to 100 miles, or equivalent of exercise . I will try for 90  miles and pilates for 30 mins everyday. but will be happy if I hit 75 miles and pilates.  the pilates are a must for me.  my muscles have become a little lax since getting lazy some on vac. I did walk some and all but didn't do any pilates for 2 weeks.  tummy muscles are lazy right now.   hubby took me out for mex. food last night. I know haven't I ate out enough.. well no I guess not.  oh well. gonna buckle down now and get it in gear. tomorrow while watching for the snow will clean and try to declutter house again.(  I know a broken record on the decluttering.-- it is a never ending battle)..  I just have too much stuff.... ugh.......  and I have learned to love the sweat suit. who would have thunk it... since losing 70 lbs I am getting colder this winter than ever before. didn't think I would ever have use for the old jog suit( it is quite huge at 3x but snuggly... if I wear it  I don't have to turn on the heat unless is is below 30 outside...)  I am still much warmer natured than most folks. I also found my old granny robe with the zip front size XL haven't had it on in 15 years, it is quite snuggly too now since losing weight. good thing I didn't toss it.

Happy Day! :)
Dec 03 2009 17:23

So I was looking through my drawers for something to wear this morning when I saw something I had long forgotten about: 2 pairs of pants I stored away a couple years ago for when I "got skinny again". One was one size smaller; the other two sizes smaller. They were in good condition, which is why I hung onto them.

I grabbed the pair that was a size smaller than I have been wearing, and sighed and told myself I'd try them on - just out of curiosity - but I couldn't it bum me out if they were still as tight as I remember them being.

I slipped them on and buttoned them up without any hastle, and, despite being a little on the tight side, they fit! I'm excited, I have new pants to wear in my wardrobe - without having to buy new ones :)

What a great feeling. Now I only have 4 more pants sizes to drop for my goal. Another 10-15 pounds lost and I'll have a bunch of new summer shirts to wear, too, which will be perfect timing for Spring!

Yaaaaaaay!

Encouraging Judy and Mommy
Dec 03 2009 09:48

Judy is starting her big diet today, and I am going to be an encouragement to her by being faithful to my healthy regimen too!

I dreamed last night that my mom died, and it was so vivid I woke up in tears.  I called her and asked her to join me on Calorie Count.  I hope she will!

Father, please give me Your strength to be faithful in this.

It was great first session, she said I am way ahead of myself for therapy on a broken shoulder.  She doesnt realize how bad i need to get back to work. I have same arm strength in both arms which she was very impressed.  I was happy as far as we got in mobility today.  I  have 4 exercises to do 20 times 2 times a day.  i will do it dont worry.

Happy and Blessed Thursday - Staying home again today
Dec 03 2009 05:41

I have some things to take care of.

When I went to go out to the store yesterday, there was a bunch of papers stuffed into the door from the animal control officer.  It said there were complaints of my dogs barking.  The only time my dogs bark is when someone on the other side of the fence is harassing them through the fence or there are sirens going off.  AND my dogs are never out over night.  There are, however, dogs in the neighborhood that are out 24/7 and bark constantly.  Totally ticked me off.  So, today, I am contacting animal control and discussing with them.  I will also be getting bark control devices to keep my dogs from ANY barking at all.  We have decided on the spray collars for each dog and an ultrasonic device to put on the side of the building, it reaches up to 75 feet.  I honestly don't like to stop dogs from barking for good reason, but we have to comply with what animal control says.  They do not bark that much and it definitely is not nuisance barking.  I suspect the complaints were actually due to the dogs left out 24/7, but when they came by my dogs were barking as I did hear a siren in the afternoon and them barking until the siren stopped.  We are working on a plan to keep the dogs in while we are not home.  It will take some coordination as we do not leave Jazzie loose when we are not home.  She really does not mind being in her crate and sleeps most of the time she is in it.  I don't like it, but have to follow the rules.

Yesterday, my brother was pretty tired and not very talkative, but did manage to get disconnected from all tubes, wires, etc. except one IV.  They got him up and walked him around the ward and he did okay.  There is an order to move him off the CSICU floor and back to the floor he was on before surgery, but there is no bed available.  My SIL is holding up well and in good spirits; she is 22 years younger than my brother.  My brother has lived on the Island for over 40 years, so they have a lot of support from family and friends.

Keri, I think the reason I am not losing weight is due to getting less than 1000 calories a day most days.  I need to get back to logging as when I log is the only time I do lose.  The other thing is that due to my shot knees I cannot exercise except a bit of in chair or resistance band stretches.  I don't think that is enough.  My doc suggested I try LEAN CUISINE for at least two meals.  It just so happened that when I was at the store last night they were having a big sale on LEAN CUISINE, so I stocked up and will see how that goes.  I also got a few frozen breakfasts to try, but LEAN CUISINE does not have breakfasts.  I found some with reduced fat and salt.  I also got some yogurt and avocados for snacks.  I need to get over to Trader Joe's and stock up on the individual 1 serving packs of nuts.  Then the other thing is to be able to keep everything down that I do consume.  I HAVE get to the doc and get my stomach meds changed; in the mean time I either throw everything up or live on Mylanta.

I pray you are all always happy, blessed, loved and healthy.

Have a God filled day,

V

Not a good start of the day
Dec 03 2009 08:39

EDIT

No kidney infection - actually he said it was the back.  Lordy, I have never felt the back pain like that before, honestly thought it was a kidney infection.  The good ole' shoulder has bursitis in it and the stomache, well ibuprophen has taken its toll.  Taking Mylanta now.  Well see how it goes.

Bs 48 at 7:30am.  Orange juice a bagel and some light cream cheese.

I am hurting in the area of the kidney on my back.  It actually started yesterday. And the stomache burning actually started Tuesday. I am thinking the stomache is an ulcer and the back a kidney infection brewing. The shoulder still hurts, Ill be getting that looked at too.  Dr. appointment at noon today.

You can check this post after 12 to see what the doctor said.

Take care and God bless.
