I was packed, I was ready. I was motivated. And Just as I was climbing the stairs to my step class, mentally preparing myself for a hard workout, the power at the Y goes out. And stays out. For no apparent reason. No storms, interrupted power lines, nothing. And their backup generators takea care of lighting the main staircase and lobby only. So because of security reasons, we all had to get our stuff and leave. So I didn't get to work out today.
No biggie. I'll just go over the weekend, but its still dissapointing...
In much better news, although I've only lost 7lbs total, one of my coworkers noticed today! It definitely feels good. Totally validates all the hard work that I've put in so far, and motivates me to continue, full speed.
And lastly, my parents are going away for Labor day weekend, so I'll be by myself from Thursday to Monday. Which is great because I'll finally have 100% control over what I eat! I went shopping with my dad today and we stocked the house with a ton of fresh fruit and veggies, beans, chicken, lean beef and whole grains.
Tomorrow night, I'm making myself a daily menu for the 4 days that I'll be alone, and I'm going to STICK TO IT. I'm also going to make myself a loose-ish hour by hour schedule because I just KNOW that if I don't, I'm going to end up sitting on my arse all weekend watching dvds. And I have quite a bit of housework and general prep (for school) that needs to get done.
YAY for you getting ready to exercise! Too bad about the power situation but at least it wasn't you that decided to not go! Congrats on losing 7 pounds. Its such a good feeling when people notice weight loss. It really makes all of the work worth it. I wish I could get a weekend alone! I'm not sure what I'd eat, but it would definitely only be stuff I like to eat and I wouldn't be worried about the rest of the household. It sounds like you have a good selection with the fruits/veg and lean meats and whole grains..yummy. I'm like you, though. The first minute I have to myself, I plop myself on the couch and start watching reruns of Maury and whatever other trashy talk shows I can devour until I have to physically move to pee...lol. Good luck on getting all your house/school work done! YAY, again for you losing 7 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
That's so random about the power! On my drive to work today the power went out for a minute and the traffic light I was approaching flashed really brightly then went to flashing yellow. Weird. When things like that happen, I usually see it as a "happy accident"; I probably would've gone home and popped some popcorn and watched a movie, lol. Congrats on 7lbs! Weight loss can be such a slow process and I think it's very important to realize how much progress one has made every step of the way. I mean, 7 lbs is equivalent to a baby. Imagine how awesome you'll look and feel when you've lost a kindergartener! ;) |
