old weigh in entries

Sept 5 : 193.8

Sept 12: 193

Sept 19: 189

Sept 26: 189

Oct. 3 : 185.8 WOO HOO! Finally getting closer to the low end of the 180s. :-) This Friday checkin is really helping me focus on what is most important to me. I actually eat less so that I will have a better showing! HA

Oct 10: 188.2 *sigh* did NOT want to show gain (or even a plateau :-( but i knew it was coming. I need to record my calories more accurately. I have gotten away from that. :-( Hubby comes home tomorrow night from two weeks in HK so hopefully i will have less stress!

Oct. 17: 186.2 lbs OK, I didn't lose as much as I FELT I was going to lose this week... but yesterday I had a few girlfriends over for a tea party and I might have had a few too many Spring rolls & choc chip cookies. ha! I did get in almost 3 hours of tennis to compensate.... and both were well worth it! :-)

Oct 24: 181.8 lbs WOW! I am so psyched to be so close to my Halloween goal of -23 pounds! I wanted to weigh 180 at Halloween and it looks like I will make it as long as I don't go nuts this week! Eating no later than 7 p.m., drinking a lot of water and watching my portions is really WORKING! And I am not even going to the gym -- just walking about 5 hours a week & 2-3 hours of doubles tennis. :-) I'll work strength training in soon....

Oct. 31:181.4 lbs Well, I got a little cocky and didn't quite make my first goal of 180 by Halloween. :-( But at least it went down a hair. Literally. LOL Next week I'll be waying myself on my mom's scale in TX -- so I don't expect an accurate check in. *sigh*

Nov. 7: did NOT weigh myself today! I am visiting my family in Texas and the scale seemed off. (read: HEAVY )

Nov. 14: 181 lbs. I have GOT to get serious about this again! Too much Halloween candy, not enough exercise, generally TOO MANY CALORIES! I have GOT to get into the 170s next week!!

Nov. 21: 179.9 lbs FINALLY into the 170s!!!!!!!!! woo hooo!!!! :-) did a little weight training this week, so maybe that helped kick it up a bit. Man, it will be areal challenge to make my Christmas goal of 160! Think I might have to be happy with breaking into the 160s by Christmas, if I am lucky.

Nov. 28 Black Friday -- Sorry I didn't really checkin this day. My father died right after I checked in last week and I spent Thanksgiving Week eating a LOT in Texas with my extended family. Not my best week, in so many ways.

Dec. 5: 178.2 lbs -- I FEEL thinner today... but the trip to TX has really slowed me down. They eat horrible there -- not to mention all the 'comfort' eating. Wish the scale reflected more of a loss. But at LEAST i feel a bit sexier. ;-)

Dec. 12: 178.2 -- today is my 10th anniversary and I had my husband's surprise 39th bday party! on top of that, I am in my TOTM! lots of festivities, but i am still eating moderately -- even if my walking has dropped to nothing with all this secret planning! got tons of compliments at the party!!

Dec. 19: 178.4 -- *sigh* well, I haven't been logging my food OR eating right. we are off to TX again (a 17 our drive on a GOOD day) but this time I am packng meals instead of eating fast food. my goal over the holidays is to AT LEAST maintain. another trip to TX means i prob won't weigh in next fri (different scale)

Jan. 2 181.4 -- Wow, I was holding... and now I've gained!! grrr. well, holidays (and funerals) are rough. those 3 trips to texas to be with family (HORRIBLE eating habits!) have really slowed me down. my preschool class gave me enough Christmas money to set up my home gym (mat, ball, medicine ball, bands, jump rope) and we got wii fit! things should speed up a bit soon!!

Jan. 9 180.4 -- *sigh* man, can i EAT. FOOD FOOD FOOD give me FOOD!!!! feeling a little off kilter. better get back on that horse... got new roller blades for christmas.... speed skates that scare me! ;-) up I must get.

Jan. 16 177.0! -- FINALLY broke the 179/180 plateau I have been in since November. For all those people who want to quit: YOU CAN break through the plateau!!! I am thrilled and a little re-invigorated! ;-)

Jan, 23 : 177.2 well, it is up a bit but better than the 3 pounds i expected after all the porking out i did this week! ;-) i wrote up all these changes i wanted to do (in my journal) but with my kitchen torn up from the reno, it's hard to put it into action. :-( enough excuses!!

Jan 29 : 178.2 lbs well,i am showing a gain... as to be expected. No kitchen to be healthy and eating mostly bagged food! ugh. Stove installed today so maybe I will be back to normal soon. Or better than normal, I hope! LOL

Feb. 6 : 176.8 can't believe i am showing a loss after eating so much candy and bagged food. well, i HAVE been working hard on the kitchen reno, so that might have helped!

new strategy to beat month-long plateau

Ok, so after reading a really good article online I have decided to implement the following changes in my routine:

1) Stand more. I have just elevated my computer so I can work at a standing height. I am using my exercise band to do arm and leg workouts. I sway, I fidget. Every calorie burned helps!

2) An apple (or other similar fruit/vegetable) before I eat a meal. Fill me up healthy calories!!!

3) I need a pedometer. Or at least I need to figure out the one myhusband bought me. I need to set a daily step goal. Ultimate goal: 10,000 a day!

4) I will begin to create a weekly exercise menu. Every day I need to work in cardio, weight/resistance training and stretching.

5) Starting this week, I will prepare at least 3 vegetarian meals a week. Possibly including fish in those meals. Boy, will the kids be pissed. LOL

6) I will use my new home gym equipment to create a circuit. At least twice a week I will create a new circuit that will alternate timed exercises: 1 minute of weight training with 1 minute cardio (jump roping or jumping jacks or maybe even suicides)

7) I WILL be more diligent about my weekend calorie count!!! (and use CalorieCount.com more diligently on a daily basis!!;-)

8) I will create a cardio workout that alternates 4 minutes of intense cardio (few words possible) with 2 minutes of slightly moderate cardio (slightly breathless)

Ok, so I am looking at this list and I think it is a LOT! Baby steps. I will shoot for as many items of these a day as I can. Will print this list out and post it. Come on, let's break this stupid plateau!!!!!!!

FEELING thinner

OK, for some reason I FEEL thinner... but the scale is not really reflecting that. At least it is motivating to know that the weight is still coming off... albeit slowly.

Patience not being one of my strong suits, i am trying to reform myself! My advice to everyone is PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE. Time to take my own medicine!!!!!! g

eat like your girlfriends works!

so i went to lunch at pei wei... had the chicken pad thai. which apparently has 560 calories! yikes! luckily, i only ate half of it at lunch cause i was eating with my girlfriend mary who is a RAIL and only had soup.

by eating slowly i wasn't interested in finishing my meail and ate the second half of it for breakfast today. :-)

i am so close to that 180 mark i don't want to blow my momentum!

halloween goal: 180

ok, so i am not sure i can make my original 23 pound loss goal by halloween. i have 5 more pounds to lose in 14 days... and that is 2.5 pounds a week! more than i HAVE lost (or prob should lose) each week.

well, it's just my first goal and i will stay focused on my end game... or new beginning or what have you. :-) it's kind of fun to keep working towards this new me. and i see glimpses of her now in the mirror!! :-)

much better day!

ok, so I am remembering to do my logging in of calories and it is really keeping me honest! :-) and since i have to go to chickfila with the kids tonight for school, i was able to go online to forecast exactly what i should eat! bonus!

i did have candy today -- man, is that high in calories!! one piece is all ya need. good thing that IS really all i had! LOL.

hubby gone to chicago now... and i have a tea at the house planned for thursday. will have to be careful not to go crazy with all the goodies the girls are bringing! at least i feel a little less stressed so i am less likely to pork out. :-)

hubby only here for one night... and i couldn't even cook! we got mcdonalds... not very nice of me now that i think about it. but I have had to be home with the KIDS for 2 weeks and now he is packing up for Chicago. I really was unmotivated to cook. *sigh*

well, i guess it is what it is and i will have a nice dinner on friday when he gets back. besides he has been eating FAB noodles in asia while i have been playing super mom! LOL not like i work SUPER hard at it! ha

nothing like the outdoors

ok, so it is raining again. and i know a lot of people swear by videos and indoor workouts... but i lOVE to play outside!! invite me to a volley ball, soccer or tennis game and i am THERE.

i would much rather pal around with friends and hit/kick some balls than mindlessly step up on a bench. HA so this damn rain better not screw up tomorrow's tennis match. hahahahahahah

i would like to say i am going to do penance tonight for dinner but the kids and i are off to Nothing But Noodles for a school fundraiser dinner. and i love to eat pad thai. 600 calories prob on noodles or more! hahahahah oh well, i'll do penance tomorrow.
