A Few Things I've Learned This Week

1. Always look for the nutritional guide at Applebee's before you order. Everything is high in calories or sodium. Even the salad.

2. I can skip that complementary box of See's candy at the office. However, I will never skip that box of homemade goodies from a client. Homemade usually comes from the heart.

3. Moderation is always good.

4. An extra pound or two won't kill me. However, skipping days at the gym can kill me.

5. If my boyfriend's ex-girlfriend friends him on Facebook, that's fine as long as I'm hotter than she is. And I am. And I'm usually very modest.

6. Holiday eating doesn't have to be stuffing your face til you have to unbutton those jeans. I repeat moderation is good.

7. I have to remember buying gifts should mean never expecting a ring from the boyfriend even though it's a damn good gift. Damnit.

8. 2009 is almost over and I'm still where I was last year. Calorie-count keeps me in check.

Vegas Recovery

Went to Hooter's on Saturday for lunch with the boyfriend, his cousin, and his brother. It had just opened and of course the boys wanted to show their cousin one of America's finest institutions (insert sarcasm here). It was their idea not mine. It was a pleasant experience if you could swallow your food while the boys ogle and comment and comment some more. Anyways, not my first choice for fine dining but why be a party pooper. Besides, I learned I wasn't as insecure as I thought I was.

For dinner it was Thai food. The whole weekend was just eating out which I'm not used to. However, stepped on the scale this morning and it was up by only a half pound so I'm totally okay with it.

Had fun, now it's back to working and taking care of business and eating healthy!

December Update

After weighing in at an average of 114.6 in November I miraculously got the weight back down to about 113.4 starting on Sunday. We've been slammed at work, so I've not been able to weight train but have been logging in at least 4 days a week at the gym doing cardio work.

I'm in Vegas today. Last night we ate at a burger restaurant at the Red Rock Casino called LBS. I was starving. We didn't eat until 8 pm last night. And I didn't have but a candy bar and coffee all day. So, eating a burger was no problem at that point.

What happened was we took a road off the main highway up to Vegas to go target shooting and ended up taking 4 hours trying to get out of the sand. We made it out of the sand and then we went target shooting. It was fun. We didn't make it to Vegas until almost 5pm but we had left Orange County at 7:30am.

The real fun was going to a country bar called Stoney's and watching my bro-in-law and cousin try to master the mechanical bull. I've learned two things: it's a myth that white people can't dance, and even though I was fish out of water I learned how to have fun anyways.

Peace out.

Nuts and Fruits

That's what I've been subsisting on. Nuts and fruits. It has helped me stay off the cookies and candy thank goodness. It doesn't mean I've lost weight or anything though. I know nuts can have a lot of calories. However, I just made it through the last TTOM without any food cravings. I'm averaging 114 right now. But I'm okay with it. Hey, I'm almost 40 with two teenagers, I think I can cut myself some slack.

No Candy

Made it through yesterday without a single piece of candy! It's a miracle. That and I stuck athe whole remaining bag of mini Skittles in my boyfriend's truck.

Made It Through Halloween

I got through Halloween without pigging out on chocolate. I did have my share of Starburst and Skittles but that was on Halloween and nothing after that. I even left the candy dish my boss gave us at the office.

However, my weight is up to 114.8 but that was because I had fried potato pancakes the night before. It's okay. I'm packing fruits and carrot sticks for work today.

Still working out, working hard and looking forward to each new day. I've got lots to live for and I can't afford to get sick, tired or sad!

I'm A Chicken...

for Halloween this year! My homemade costume is near completion. I just have to work on my headpiece. If you can just picture me in white feathers and yellow tights that's my costume. I love, love, love the feathers. Now, if only I had skinny chicken legs....sigh.

Friday And I'm Off!

I decided to take the day off from the office today since my last paycheck was missing almost 7 hours and it was going towards the next paycheck. Even though it's my day off I've been busy. But, I got to do a lot of stuff before it's even 3pm.

I:

went to the gym

detailed my bf's truck

went grocery shopping

bought a gift for a friend

cooked dinner

dug up the backyard to prepare it for new grass seed

did laundry

washed the kitchen windows

washed the kitchen floor

I'm happy, because I feel productive. And I'm happy because this morning I woke up and was at 112.6. All this extra work is helping me stay this way today.

Best of all, I'm not craving chocolate or cookies and it's TTOM! It's hard for me to imagine staying away from this stuff for over a month. However, I feel so much better, skin looks better and I don't feel so grumpy.

Staying Out of the Cookie Jar

I've managed to stay away from the packages of cookies and chocolates in my house. Evidence is the box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts and two packs of Oreos in the pantry. I will have a slice of cake at a birthday party or maybe a few cookies during the weekend but I've managed to control it.

Overall, I've been able to sleep better, crave healthier foods like apples or bananas and nuts. My skin seems to look better. I'm not so irritable. Weight maintenance is so much easier.

I can't attribute that all to the decrease in sweets but I'd like to think there's some kind of positive outcome. I feel a lot better because this was something I wanted to control for a long time. Fortunately, my boyfriend is on board with all this and we've been buying more fruits and nuts.

I'm feeling good.

This Was A Good Month...

because:

I managed to not eat cookies or chocolate late at night while watching the t.v.

I managed to maintain my weight even though I did have a slice of birthday cake at a party

I still got my workouts in even though sometimes I'm dead tired

and I'm feelin' good!
