Entry Half Marathoner Here...woohoo
Dec 07 2009 13:00

So I completed my very first ever Half Marathon. It pretty much went as planned except for my first attempt to drink the fluids volunteers were handing out, while trying not to break stride, lets just say a face full of fluids on a cold morning was not part of the plan, totally missed my mouth and splashed all over my face.  I Would like to give thanks to those who make cc possible as I never would have even attempted a marathon before cc...and to all who contribute blogs with their stories, THANK YOU ALL...here are some result numbers for me... Entry 97 Miles for October
Nov 01 2009 14:53

Now that I'm keeping a running log I see I've totaled 97 miles for this past month.

I feel blessed and am thankful that I'm healthy enough to be able to run.  I truly enjoy it...just is one of the best feelings ever to run and you can't beat the benefits as a result. I just keep losing the pounds (and those love handles, glad they're almost gone)...that being said I sure look forward to the 26 or so miles I have planned for the first week of November!  :)!

I no longer purchase anything from the grocery store that has no nutritional benefit, so pretty much anytime I eat at home; all I have to chose from are healthy foods...Carne Asada burritos, pizza, burger with fries/super size, NO THANK  YOU!

Hope everyone has a small goal set for the month of November, and I hope you achieve it.  Step by Step is just one way to achieve results.

Entry Another Hard Fought Victory Against the Bulge...
Oct 21 2009 09:58

Progress update:

Weight:  151

BF%:     15.5,.3,.7%(fluctuates)

Waist:    36.75

Who knew that at a weight of 150 or so that I would feel so great, so young, so full of life...GD it feels good.

I'm still training for the 1/2 Marathon, doing well...have a 10 miler scheduled for this Saturday, can't wait...seriously.

You know if everything goes as it is so far, next month I should be in my 140s...and I can then feel confident enough to apply as a dancer for "The Thunder Down Under" strippers here in Vegas (Laughing that was a joke/half joke.)

Well, I hope everyone has great results leading up to Thanksgiving...I'm going to enjoy this years especially, I'll be able to eat without feeling guilty for the first time in a lifetime.

Entry 1/2 Marathon Training's Long Run
Sep 26 2009 11:55

...called for 7 Miles, since I never stop after starting a lap around the park where I run it turned out to be 7.47 miles.  I must admit it was no where near as difficult as I thought it may be.

I'm thinking per all the advice on running sites that it should have been a comfortable pace, which I started out with, but after a few laps the pace did bore me, so I picked it up and went for comfortably hard pace.  I hope the next 8, 9, 10, etc... mile long runs go just as well...oh, and to bad I didn't read about the torturous move of shirt rubbin' against nipples, OUCH!Yell before today's run!

Everyone enjoy their weekend, and ah, ah, ah, no bad foods, and stay active...do somethin' fun.

Entry 1/2 Marathon
Sep 20 2009 20:06

Undecided...not that I'm undecided but I'm going to go ahead and continue with the training that I obtained on a running website and if all is well by the halfway point (tomorrow starts week 2 out of 12), meaning feeling good and no injuries, then I'll go ahead and register for the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & 1/2 in Las Vegas in December.

I guess this is what you call progression...running just feels so good to me and this seems like the next step in accomplishing new goals now that being much more fit and healthy is part of my new being.

I'm able to complete a 10k non stop and with the training, I'm sure another 7 miles won't be a problemo (watchin' Terminator 2 while writin' this jaja).

Maybe I'm not the only one taking part in this?...drop me a line if anyone else is or just has more experience in running races (this will be my first race) and can provide advice.

We'll G'night...need to start sleeping earlier now since my runs are first thing in the a.m., I think I'm up before the roosters around here.

Entry Hard To Believe...
Sep 13 2009 09:51

Progress Report:

Weight: 159 lbs.

BF%:    18.3

Waist:   37.25" (very ecstatic about current trousers of 34" waist fitting very loose...meaning I'm sure that I can now start wearing 32" waist trousers, Cool!

...I do believe that the constant activity of running almost on a daily basis for anywhere from :48 - :60 minutes has provided such great progress...of course I stick to my calories allowed and pretty much have eliminated all fast food from my diet and when I snack I pick up a fruit or vegetable.  I'm almost satisfied...I still have those pesky love handles (although smaller now, but still there), yet I will continue until they have all but disappeared...I hope the message I'm relaying here is that one needs to change/dump those bad eating habits and constant activity of any type are key to achieving success....I hope to continue as I've been and hope anyone that truly gives it a sincere try also achieves similar results and joy in knowing that if done properly you can lose as much as you desire to.

*I still hold on to an ol' pair of Levis...waist 40...just incredible that there was a time at the start of the year these are what I wore and wore snugly may I add.  I'm just so grateful to this site for playing such an important role and a reason for what I've accomplished...Thanks to all!

Entry BF is a droppin'
Aug 12 2009 09:53

OK...progress to date:

weight:174...bf:20.3%...abdomen measurement:38.5"

Looks like back in June I had a goal to reach 20%bf, I was 26% at the time...I'll give myself an "attaboy" for achieving that goal.  I hope to bring that % down to maybe 16 before the year is out, am going to continue eating right, making exercise a dailyactivity and as soon as possible start working out with weights (which will probably assist me in achieving the physique type I'd like to have).

Keep working on it everyone...30 days from now we'll have significant progress if we work consistently on diet and excercise (and no cheating).

Entry GooooaaaL!!!
Aug 04 2009 04:33

Weighed in yesterday...looks like I reached my inital weight goal...feels great.  Now I'm going to shoot for droppin' my bodyfat% to around 15.  I know that will take up to several months since I'm at about 21% (started at 33%), but I'm still happy with reaching the 175 weight mark.  Oh, and excercise is key...must try and make it part of your new lifestyle and the more you love it the more you increase your chances of achieving your goals.

Entry Running

Sharing Excercise Activity:

  • Running 4-5 days per week
  • Distance ran is 3 miles
  • Pace ranges from 9-10 mins/mile

I Feel great just running for the moment.  I know mixing it up with weightlifting will provide even better results..will get around to lifting weights here in a few weeks.

Keep chippin' away at that fat all...worth it, definitely!

Update 8.16.09:

...being that I felt great during today's entire run, I would have never imagined when it was all over that I would have completed a 6 miler today.  I guess consistency and determination do provide results in the long run...all-right!
