We had our soup swap tonight. I came home with seven different kinds of soup. Nice and hearty. Two kinds of squash soup, two kinds of corn chowder, a moroccan chick pea soup, sweet and sour and a chicken soup. That should keep me for a couple of months. I also had a quart left over from my black bean pumpkin soup. all in all it was a nice turn out. But this group always is.
Not much else, just busy painting and my dog business. Thanking my lucky stars and the big guy upstairs for keeping me in business and making money!
I went to a Christmas crafts festival this weekend as Saturday it was raining buckets, so what better way to spend a nasty wet weekend. I love craft shows, I mean nice crafts, handmade and nice. I bought a few dog things and a coffee cozy. I never heard of this but its a cover for your french press to keep your coffee hot for a few more hours. My mother was telling me they have them for teapots. I never heard of them before but I went straight home and tried it out. It works! I also asked about a possible booth for next year. I have always wanted a booth for my art, so we will see. I guess they had more commerical booths than hand made because of the economy. Too bad as I will buy hand made over overseas products.
Oh, that's cool! You actually came home with servings of soup; I thought maybe everyone sampled and swapped recipes. That's better than a potluck! I'm with you on the handmade over mass produced. Whenever we travel somewhere I always look for a painting and handmade crafts to bring home as souvenirs, not the cheap crap mass produced in some other country altogether and stamped with a cheesy "souvenir of Cancun" or something. I used to do craft shows a lot when I did the pottery. Good ones could be pretty lucrative, but there were a few washes, too, setting up and sitting all day and coming home with only $100 or so. Not sure what it's like now, though; this was in the 80s. Haha, can tell you're not a tea drinker! (Or British?) Yup, tea cozies have been around forever--my husband's mother knitted him one for his teapot, and my mom always had one for hers. Never heard of one for a coffeepot before but why not? Same principle! |
