Entry A bad day...
Apr 03 2007 23:44

So today I woke up at 5:00AM (4:59 to be exact) to my Mother asking "Adam, what time did you set your alarm for?" Halfway through her question my alarm clock flickered to 5:00 and began to fill my room with it's deafeningly repetitive beeping...

I got up and throw together my breakfast: 2 Kashi Blueberry Waffles with Promise Fat-Free Butter, Sugar-Free Maple Grove Farms Syrup, and a cup of Strawberries... I downed it with a glass of water and hurried into the shower... After I got all cleaned up, I dried off, got dressed and brushed my teeth... Ready to hit the road...

You see, I have a recessive overbite... My bottom jaw appears to stick out around 8mm too far even though in all actuality it's my top jaw that didn't grow out far enough... My grandmother, mom and I started paying for braces and surgery in December (Around $6000) and will be paying until December 08...

Anyway, back to the whole hitting the road deal... Today was a big day for me... I live in Kingsport, TN and today I had to drive to Chapel Hill, NC to have a consultation with a Dr. at UNC about my jaw surgery... So my Mom and I set out at around 5:30... Hit up a Starbucks on the way down there and I grabbed a Green Tea Latte (Full-fat because I'd never been to Starbucks before and didn't know I had the option of a Fat-Free latte...)

Anyway, we get there around 10:45 (My appointment was at 11:00AM) and after making it to the office and sitting in the waiting room for a good 15 minutes, we finally get called in... And this Dr. who is supposively the best in the South at the kind of surgery I need hasn't even GLANCED over my file... He comes in the room where my Mom and I are sitting and asks which one of us is the patient!!! What a prick!!! So after we fill him in, he tells us that the surgery was going to cost another $12,000 that we'd yet to have been informed of, and another $12,000 for hospital fees... I'm sorry but I don't have $20-30,000 just lying around... Not to mention just the 10 minute consultation with this prick cost me $200 alone!!! It's friggin ridiculous!!! (If only I had health insurance...)

Anyway, so that really put a damper on my day, but on the 5 hour drive back home, we stopped at Subway and I got a really delish 6"... I also finished a book I had been working on for FOREVER (Deception Point by Dan Brown... Amazing book and an especially AMAZING author)... And tonight I had a super good run just before it started to rain... So I'm feeling a lot better now, even after the horrible day and the realization that I'm gonna be paying a lot more than just $6,000 to get my jaw fixed...

I think it's the healing ability of the endorphins released when running that makes me love to run so much... I feel almost euphoric right now...

But it's time for bed... So I'm going to go for now...

But wow, you'd never been to Starbucks before?  What kind of rock have you been hiding under?  ;)

I absolutely hate being asked when the alarm is going to go off.  That side of teh brain was turned off untill that question.  And what of the answer.  The answer is useless.  Just let us sleep!
