The most difficult part about trying to achieve any kind of long term goal is staying the course. If i say, tomorrow i want to go to the gym. Well thats a pretty easy goal. Instantely attainable. But where is the challenge/fun in that? As I am currently on injured reserve, it's difficult to keep sight of the long term goal I set out for. My goal of gaining about 50 pounds of muscle is not for the faint of heart. Not something easily attainable. However I've used the lessons that have been taught by those who have came before me, and instead of giving a long, drawn out explanation of what I need to do it's actually quite simple. The only way you can ever fail whilst trying to achieve a goal is to quit. If you set yourself like I did, I wanted to gain 50 pounds of muscle in about 3-4 months. Not impossible, but not an easy goal either. Due to circumstances outside of my control, that goal is no longer possible. But that does not mean I am a failure. It simply means the goal will be so much more rewarding when I finally do reach it.
I've started physical therapy and it is absolutely excruciating. I have felt like my leg was going to fall off on several occasions. Whenever I feel pain though, I always try to think that there is someone out there going through more pain than I am. There is indeed someone who is in a worse situacion then I am in. So with everything I have, I push through the pain. In closing today, I say to stay the course. Only quitting is failing. And the most important thing of all is that in the end, the universe tends to unfold as it should. And having said that, I know I'll get there someday. You will too.
