Yesterday I walked a lot, drank lots of water, and ate well.
Today, I am back at 152.4, which is exactly where I expect, based on my weight loss pattern. I usually lose about 0.2 pounds per day (a bit more than a pound a week).
According to CC, I am past the halfway point! (13.4 pounds lost, 13.2 to go) But that does not take into account the fact that in October, before I joined CC, I went from 170 to around 160.
I'm looking forward to the weekend. We'll be taking our dogs to a neighborhood dog park.

Yesterday, I was at 152.8, today I weigh 154.2.
I'm not that surprised. I ate too much pasta yesterday and did not drink enough water.
Oh well. Today I will exercise, drink plenty of water, and eat light (up to about 1500 calories) and I'll see how it all shakes out tomorrow morning.

My dog JT (his name is "James Tiberius", ten points if you know the reference) has a nail that's worn to the quick from walking around with me so much. It bleeds sometimes, even though the vet told me it's okay and it's probably not hurting him. In order to help him and to let his nail heal, I bought him these silly looking booties.
Imagine a handsome beagle, very inquisitive and alert, walking with a good looking guy, wearing doggie booties. That's JT and me.
Wherever I go, random women come up to me and tell me "He is soooo cute. Why is he wearing booties?" and then I have to explain the whole thing, and I can see by the look in their face that they think it's really sweet of me to do this for my doggie friend. I guess it is, but it's just practical --- I want him to be able to continue walking with me without bleeding all over everything afterwards.
If I was single, this would be the perfect setup. Unfortunately, I'm already married, so I can not take advantage of these opportunities. My wife thinks it's relly funny, though. :-)

I can hardly believe how fast 2006 seemed to zoom by.
The calendrical event is in many ways anticlimactic. Not much has changed. There's still work to do, bills to pay, people to see, yadda yadda.
I'm still exercising and eating small meals. My weight this morning was 153.2. I'll probably be in the 152's by this weekend.
Yesterday, I was able to do 23 chest-to-the-floor perfect form pushups in one shot. Today, I intend to do at least 24.
One last note: My wife has been feeling up my arms and chest a lot recently, telling me that she's really liking my new hard body. I just smile and tell her "Wait 6 months and I'll have a six-pack."

It's good to go out on a good note!
I weigh less today than I have in a few years. Another 5 or so pounds and I will be at the weight I was when I started college.
Happy New Year, everyone!

Warning: You may not want to read this if you are squeamish about poop. :-]
I've been keeping to my calorie targets recently and doing my shovelglove workouts in the early morning and doing some sort of aerobic exercise pretty regularly.
However, my weight has not been moving as much as I wanted, since, well... errr... I've been a little... blocked up recently. Food has been going in, but not much has been coming out. ;-)
So, earlier this week, I decided to do a bit of research.
I ran into this page about the benefits of bananas, and this one, which talks explicitly about the gastrointestinal health impact of eating bananas:
?Bananas, like most fiber, tend to help both diarrhea and constipation. [...] Two bananas a day (or one with every large meal) offers optimal GI effect (a slippery, soft stool with no mess).?I was already eating a good amount of fiber, but decided to up the amount. So I went to the organic cereal aisle of my grocery store and got a cereal called "Simply Fiber"; it looks sort of like rabbit pellets but it tastes a bit better than that, thankfully. With sliced bananas and milk, it makes a very good breakfast.
I ate Simply Fiber or some other high fiber cereal every day (sometimes twice a day) for the last few days. Things started to move. :-)
This morning, I weighed myself at 155.4 (about a pound more than the last couple of days).
Then, I did a session on the elliptical and a quick upper body sledgehammer workout. At this point, I could feel my bowels starting to rumble. So, I made my way to the toilet and sat down.
Within a minute, the chute started to open, the tuba players started playing and the lumberyard started to make logs. The machinery was now in full operation and it just kept going and going and going. And going and going. My god, what a smell! I had to courtesy flush once to keep from fainting.
In the end, it was all over and I felt un-bloated for the first time in a week.
I weighed myself again: 153.4! Two whole pounds...
Anyways, I'm sure that was way too much information, but that's the latest poop from here.

I haven't had a chance to do a good cardio session (usually the Elliptical treadmill) in a few days. My dogs both need walks, especially JT, my beagle.
So... I clipped a leash to Annika, my Yorkie, and attached her to my belt, and I clipped a leash to JT, my beagle, and attached him to the other side... then I grabbed two 12 pound dumbells and went for a very brisk 40 minute walk around the neighborhood.
The whole time, I was doing bicep curls or tricep exercises. I probably looked insane, but all three of us had a fun walk.
I think I wore out the little fuzzballs... JT and Annika are both asleep at my feet as I type this.

I weighed 154.4 this morning and when I checked the BMI tool here, it says:
"Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 24.9, you are currently classed as at a healthy weight."
Woo hoo!!!
My nutrition scores have been creeping up. I got a bunch of A- this week, with one solid "A" a few days ago.

I've been losing weight throughout the holidays and my self-discipline is starting to become easier and easier. This new way of eating and habitual exercising is starting to become a self-propelled routine.
This morning I weighed 155.2 which is great.
A lot of people have told me that I should not be "dieting" through the festive season. I just smile and nod and I fill my plate with veggies and a few bites of the "good" stuff (really the BAD stuff) that everyone likes to eat: sugary fatty foods, and I just continue to do what I do.
It's not a diet, it's a new decision, a new direction, a resolve to be healthy now and in the years to come. Every day I feel stronger and better. My biceps are starting to show and I can actually do about 15 chest-down-to-the-floor pushups at a time without needing to rest. My body is changing and in 3-6 months I will have a definite six-pack on my abdomen.
Anyways. I'll just let people advise me on how to have fun (by eating sugary foods?!?) and I'll just wish them well and continue to do what I do. I am in better shape at 40 than I have ever been in my teens or twenties.
