I had another day of staying on track today. Yay!
At the end of the day, I was still a bit hungry and had about 300 calories to use. I knew I could eat two slices of banana bread, but those real sugary treats tend to just make me more hungry now that I am eating better (I now understand how some empty carbs just make you crave more carbs)... So, I looked online and I found this recipe for "protein pancakes".
I tried it and it was very yummy and filling. I ate both servings and came right up to my intended calorie count.
Tomorrow is the start of another week. This way of eating is starting to become more and more habitual every day.

Yesterday, I had two social eating situations.
One was a writers meeting where we have a breakfast buffet (scrambled eggs, potatos, regular 240-cal cup of yogutr, fruit, sausages, etc). The second was an early thanksgiving party with some friends, with the usual: oven roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, lots of pies of various kinds.
I went to the breakfast and managed to eat about half of my daily allotment for the day. Not so bad. Especially since I've been starting to invert the usual size order of meals; Most days I'm eating a more filling breakfast, a medium sized lunch, and a very small dinner, with a few healthy low calorie snacks thrown in.
Then, with some preparation and some help from the forums, I managed to keep my eating and drinking under control at the party and still stayed under my maintenance calorie count. I ate more than my weight-loss calorie count target, but the fact that I did not overshoot into the stratosphere is great for me!
I brought my little measuring shot-glass to the party and offered to make anyone who wanted White Russians. I would take 1 oz of Kalhua, 1 oz of Vodka, add 2 oz of 1% skim milk (which I brought with me!) stir in a glass, add ice and hand it to the other guests. People were amused and joked about my exacting measurements. I just joked back, saying that "It's all about consistency. Quality Control. I make the exact same drink every time." Of course, having my measuring implement with me meant that I knew exactly how much liquor *I* was drinking too, and its calorie content! :-)
Today, I intend to do some exercising and housework to compensate. I'll probably do some reps with my 12 pound free weights in between household chorse (vaccuuming, laundry, cleaning the kitchen floor, cooking for my wife, etc).
Anyway, those are my Sunday plans.
Best regards,

At the last minute, yesterday evening, my wife wanted to go to one of our favorite italian restaurants. I agreed and wondered inside about what I was going to manage to eat. I knew I had about 500 calories left in my allotment for the day.
This is one of those places where they put yummy freshly baked bread and cheese spread in front of you. We got there and the bread and cheese started flowing, but I did not touch any of it! I ordered a shrimp and scallop salad on a bed of spinach and when it arrived, I ate slowly, eating half of it and taking home the rest (today's lunch). I drank lots of water.
I walked out of there satisfied, and not overstuffed! Yay! Went home and logged the food and I had eaten about 1480 calories yesterday. I weighed a bit less this morning than yesterday morning.
On to the rest of the weekend... There's a party we are going to attend tonight, and I feel confident that I can continue to make smart choices there. Wish me luck!

I guess this is what they talk about when they warn about "water weight."
Yesterday I weighed in at 161.4 and today it's 162.6. Even though I did not even eat 1500 calories yesterday (even with making a batch of brownies at my wife's behest, which I resisted successfully).
Oh well. I know that the weight is not stored fat from overeating.
On to breakfast and exercise and the rest of my day...

I packed my lunch today and am determined to stay away from the break room treats.
:-)
We shall see how it goes. So far, I did have one Rice Krispy Treats bar (90 calories).

Okay, I was thinking some more about what I wrote earlier today.
I've decided that I will try to limit my real-life talking and comments about my weight loss or about food/nutrition in general. Unless someone I know really wants to know, I am just going to keep it all under wraps.
That way, I can just keep doing what I am doing without worrying about other people's choices or their reactions to me.
Life is too short to worry about stupid things like that. I am going to keep on doing what I am doing, because it works.

I watch everyone else around me eating high calrie, low nutrition foods. I want to tell them, but they are all old enough to make their own choices. It's still frustrating (and tempting).
If anyone else reads this, how do you deal with this?

So far, I continue to steel my will against the tidal wave of bad food choices.
Last night, my son made a batch of brownies. At 140+ calories per small square, they were essentially empty calories. I had already eaten up to my calorie allotment for the day, so I steadfastly refused to eat any. Good for me!
Today, I weigh even a bit less than yesterday.
Continuing in this fashion, I know I will reach my goal weight by or before my deadline.
Best regards,
