Entry P90X Round 3 Day 44 : Plyometrics + 4 mile run

Started at 6AM this morning. Finished by 7AM. Did the routine with Katherine, though she pooped out about halfway through (a bit better than the last time).

Then made my protein/recovery shake (ice, banana, orange mix, protein powder, soy milk in blender --- very declicious).

I'm doing some laundry before I head off to work.

I hope you are all having a great week!

Edit: Just got back from a 4 mile run. It's raining where I was running (in Saratoga) and I am completely soaked, but I am also exhilarated!

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 43: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps

This morning at 5:45, I did the P90X Chest, Shoulders and Triceps DVD.

Then, off to work.

Not much to report. I feel good.

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 42: 14 mile run

Today I did a nice 14 mile run. In the rain again. It was a perfect run.

This is the longest I have ever run, slightly longer than a half marathon.

The weird thing is that I feel great; not sore, not hurting, pretty relaxed.

Did my Kenpo-X DVD early this morning (started at 6AM).

I am off to an all-day writing workshop next. It will be a lot of fun.

P.S. Today is my son's 17th birthday. It's so weird. He's almost an adult.

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 40: Legs and Back + Ab Ripper X

It's Friday!

I went on a bike ride with my friend CJ today. This is his first bike ride since his leg amputation. He does not have his prosthetic leg yet, probably won't for another couple of months. The bicycle is one you have to pump the pedals with your arms. We rode for a good 40 minutes or so.

Later today, I will actually do today's P90X workout.

My day has been one meeting after another (started at 6AM, then my bike ride, then another series of meetings from 9 till noon, and another couple of meetings later this afternoon).

My weekend officially begins around 3PM today. :-)

Entry P90X Day 39: Yoga-X + 3 mile run

It was a very busy day today.

My run was a nice respite from the craziness, though.

I ran around West Valley College campus, having mapped it out earlier so I knew that twice around a specific path (up and down some nice hills) would be about the distance I wanted to run.

The whole circuit felt good.

I was relaxed, and the run was done in 9:30 minute per mile pace.

It's almost Friday!

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 38: Back and Biceps + Ab Ripper X

I was on a 6AM conference call this morning.

Then, at around 7AM my daughter and I did the  P90X Back and Biceps DVD together: She used my freeweights (5, 8, 10 and 12 pounders) and I used my selectable dumbells (settable to 10-50 lbs per, in increments of 5).

Afterwards, I was on a conference call, then off to work.

I feel a bit sleepy, since I was silly and did not go to bed early enough to get a good night's sleep.

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 37: Plyometrics

Did the Plyometrics DVD today. Very nice. Felt great afterward.

Also, the following 3.7 mile run. I felt pretty relaxed the whole time. My average pace was 9:43 minutes per mile.

The run back was not the same as the run out, because sometimes, as I was approaching a busy intersection with a red stop light, it was easier to just keep running on the side street and then cross when the traffic passed rather than just stand there and wait for the light to change. Cool

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 36: Chest, Shoulders and Triceps + Ab Ripper X

Started at 5:45AM, done at 7, then off to the Chiropractor and then work.

I feel a lot better. No caffeine and fake sugars since last Tuesday. Muscle aches and pains are gone. Drinking lots of water now.

I'll start heading home around 4PM today.

Tomorrow's workout is Plyometrics. I'm kind of looking forward to it. ;-)

Entry P90X Round 3 Day 35: Rest Day

Today was a total rest day. No P90X. No run (since I did the run yesterday).

Here's yesterday's 5 mile run.

My pains have subsided considerably. I've decided that they are probably due to caffeine withdrawal. Somewhere else, I read that the symptoms can be compared to flu-like symptoms for some (headaches accompanied by generalized muscle soreness and stiffness).

One other interesting fact: My resting heart rate is now 51. Before, it was usually in the low 60's.

If I had to do it over again, I would have probably just tapered off the caffeine. However, since I'm already past the worst of it, I'm just going to keep with the total abstinence approach.

I went to a coffee shop today. Drank an Italian soda. Felt a bit like an alchoholic going into a bar. ;-)

I hope you are all having a great weekend. Mine has been peaceful overall.
