Ok... so I know the purpose of joining CC is to count your calories... but I still haven't yet. :/
The first few days I did, I had such major "sticker shock" that I realized I needed to address a few other issues before merely counting what I was eating. 4,000 - 5,000 calories?! A DAY?!? I couldn't believe it.
Step 1 - I've been eating about 6 meals a day - trying to get a small portion of something nutritious in about every 2/2.5 hours to combat any hungry feelings - and that, thankfully, has been working wonders. I don't feel hungry. It feels amazing to be in control... I feel like I can say "NO" to food.
That being said... bring on step 2!
After browsing through a lot of CC recipes (I didn't know yummy foods could be low-cal & healthy, too!) I went to Trader Joe's and stocked up on some delectably nutritious foods for the next few days.
- Organic Gala apple & Organic celery hearts
- Organic Oats & Flaxseed oatmeal
- Organic Black Bean Soup, Vegan Chili, Tomato & Red Pepper Soup
- Meatless Meatballs (not a vegetarian, but I used to be and LOVED these) :)
AND I just made these breakfast quiche cups for the rest of the week. I substituted Organic Pepper Jack for the Mozzarella.... Not sure how that will affect the calorie count, but hey - working on baby steps here.
Oh, did I mention I bought a lot of Organic foods? :)
It's really amaziing how many calories you can consume when you're not paying attention. When I first started doing this, I was really convinced that I didn't really eat THAT many calories. I was more convinced it was a lack of exercise. I have since found out it is a combination of both. Keep up the awesome work! |
