What the.....?

I have been eating very healthy, and exercising. So when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was kind of upset to see that I had gained three pounds. But my pants feel looser and my body looks more toned, so I'm hoping that the weight gain is due to muscle build up. I have been strength training and taking in more protein. I will not let this send me into a frenzy of over eating.

Sometimes the scale can be deceiving. How can my body look more toned and my clothes looser mean that I gained weight without it being muscle? I hope so. Either that or it's because of PMS.

Starting over...

Okay, I'll have to admit. I WAS doing really good, keeping track of my calories, exercising, even lost 5 pounds. But once Halloween hit and all the candy, then Thanksgiving and all the pumpkin pie, and now Christmas...well, it all went downhill. Or in this case, uphill, since I gained the 5 pounds back that I had lost and an extra one or two pounds.

I have been humming and hawing about starting to count the calories again (since I had stopped, you see) and I've decided that there's no time like the present. I was going to wait until after Christmas, but then that just gives me an excuse to keep eating like I have been. I realize Christmas Eve and Day will provide challenges, but then at least I will be aware of my eating rather than eating willy-nilly like I have been since October.

So...here it goes again!

Darn holidays!

Man, I love holidays, and I hate holidays! I ate way too many desserts during this Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving, for all the Americans out there!). Pumpkin pie after cheesecake and then some. It's those darn desserts, and turkey, that you don't get to eat all the time. And then when the holiday comes up when we eat these foods at dinner, I go overboard. Blech! I tried to tell myself, I'll work it off by jogging on the treadmill tonight, but I didn't do it. Gotta make up for that now!

Love this!

I absolutely love this site! After so many years of buying into so many different "gimmicks", I finally realized that the only and best way to lose weight does not lie in some secret formula. It lies in three things and these three things have been told out there for many many years. Those are EXERCISE, HEALTHY EATING, and YOUR OWN WILL. I'm tired of diet pills, diet gimmicks, shakes, bars, etc. I am learning now to count my calories and eat healthy. I think that's the best way to lose weight. I lost 40 lbs. so far, but have hit a plateau. Since I know I can lose weight, and keep it off, I know I will be able to lose these last 15 to 20 lbs to get to my goal weight. I don't want to go back to that "fat girl" I've been since I was twelve. My main goal is to be at a healthy BMI. Hope I am able to do this!
