Entry Started a Blog
Nov 04 2009 09:15

http://ahealthierjenny.blogspot.com/

I have read many great blogs recently on healthy eating.  Most of the ladies I have read from are already in great shape.  I would like to start eating healthier.  I will be putting pictures of foods I eat on here and explaining what they are and all that.

Today I had something different and it was really good.

1/2oats
1/2pumpkin
1T molassas
water (out of soymilk)
pumpkin pie spice

It was not as sweet as I usually like, but after a few bites I was getting used to it and enjoying the pumpkin flavor instead of sugary sweets.  I'm finally down some.  Last night I had to fight hard not to dig into the family's donuts.  I was glad to see some change lol.

Now I'm sipping on earl grey tea with no sugar.  I usually only put 1teaspoon but without is not that bad.

Check me out.  I have not written in it yet.  I was planning on starting today, end of the day so I can blog all my foods.  Oooo, salmon for dinner, it's thawing in the fridge!

Entry Heh, fail
Oct 30 2009 15:33

I failed with remembering to write all my food when things got crazy.  I've been helping my cousin move.  Here, I'll at least try to remember my crazy day yesterday.

1/2 small sourdough roll w/ butter.

2 tuna sandwiches on wheat

1 small enchilada, 1 chili relleno (tons of cheese), 1/3beans, 1/3rice.
3 bites of my daughters vanilla ice cream.

1 mango smoothie.

today-3 thin pancakes w/ butter & syrup.  it's 3:30pm but i've had to lay on the couch and try to nap when i could cuz i'm working midnight tonight to noon tomorrow.  so i haven't eaten much yet.

if i get a good paycheck i'm going to buy some greek yogurt and PB puffins for breakfasts.  even if i dont i'm buying some cheap fruits and veggies at this produce store that has great prices.  have to make a serious effort to eat healthy.

Entry 30 Day Challenge
Oct 28 2009 10:29

I would like to challenge myself (and anyone else who would like to join) to journal all food eaten for 30 days.  Meaning to blog it and put it in for your calories.

So far today I've had only 1 small brownie (from hubby's bday yesterday) and 2 cups of coffee with 2/3c. soymilk.  I know it's a bad breakfast.  I was so tired this morning, less tired than yesterday morning.  Ugh.  I got 2 night shifts this last weekend, which is GOOOOD cuz I've been getting 1 sometimes NONE.  Out of my available 3 nights, 2 is great :D  BUT bleh it's hard to go from nights to days.  1 night is super easy, but 2 is much harder.  Yesterday I laid on the couch with my 4yr old, making her watch TV, ugh...until like 11 or later!  So today I made myself get up and stay up even after getting my 6yr old to the bus stop.  Thus I drank a bunch of coffee and didn't feel that hungry.  Tomorrow I hope to try oatmeal with canned pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice.  It sounds yummy.  I made pumpkin bread with mostly oats soaked in almond milk.  No butter or oil, only a little flour, and eggs, well of course salt and baking soda.  I kinda made my own recipe.  I'm pretty good at baking/cooking from scratch even without recipes cuz I know basically what it needs to come together.  It was super moist and yummy even without oil/butter.  I think if I make another I will use only egg whites to make it even better.  I think it was more moist than usually because I soaked the oats and barely used any flour.  So it was like a oat/pumpkin bread.  My husband doesn't like it when I use so much oats lol, neither does my veggie eatin, fruit hatin 6yr old.  But the 4yr old liked it.

I hope to lose some weight in the 30 days but mostly just challenge myself to journal everyday on what I ate and exercised or if I didn't.  Starting there should motivate me to stay on track.  I don't want to admit to being bad, so I will be good xP  I've maintained my weight, thankfully.  But I'd like to lose more.  I'm only about 10 lbs from being "healthy" weight.  It will be very exciting to get there, it's been over 10 yrs, I was a young teen and even then I was at the top end of healthy.

I will post tonight or tomorrow morning with the rest of what I ate today.  Feel free to comment on what I eat.  Today isn't going well so far...1brownie and coffee....like I said, it should motivate me to be better.

Entry Another day back at the gym
Oct 13 2009 12:32

It was good to get back there.  I've been eating pretty good but not working out much so starting to lose very slowly again.  Hopefully getting back to the gym will boost that.  I was 169 yesterday before the gym so I'm going to weigh next Monday and see how much it helped.  I'm excited to see.

Tomorrow, I am helping a family member start packing to move by the end of the month.  I'm leaving right after my first grader gets on the bus, then getting home to meet her.  So I'll be gone most of the day.  I'll probably be too tired to go to the gym so I'm going to see if my husband will do his stretching and some workout with me.  He does stretching sometimes at the gym or here with me before work (at night).  If he doesn't feel well I'll do some stretches myself then elliptical.

I'm trying to get some workout everyday except weekends when I work because my job is very physical.

I did 1 hour today at the gym now I'm going back to take my lil one swimming.

Entry New Boots-in another 9lbs
Oct 12 2009 12:09

My husband keeps telling me to buy shoes, boots actually cuz it's getting cold now.  It's because all I usually wear are flip flops.  lol  Even during the fall and winter.  I just like them.  Easy, comfy, not so stylish tho, especially when it's raining.  So I decided I'm going to get down to 160 and buy some boots.

I feel like I'm not going to find any that I like and think look good on me.  Hopefully I can, oh well.  I'm 169 so I have 9 pounds more to lose.  I haven't gone to the gym in forever.  I've just been doing it by diet and using my elliptical but not so much.  Oh I do ride my bike and walk with the kids but not enough to be called working out.  Just 20 min here and there of light exercise.

But today I am going back to the gym, this afternoon when the childcare opens back up.  They are only open 8am-noon then 4-8pm.  I'm shooting to lose those 9 pounds before winter.

I just need to lose 4 more pounds to be down a total of 50 pounds from my highest.  I'm excited about that even with my ups and downs I've had for so long.  At least it's up and down and not up and up right? lol

Entry Cool.
Sep 23 2009 10:46

I've gone from 190 to 170 this year.  It's taken almost 10 months, and lots of ups and downs.  I'm trying to keep an eye on my weight always and not slack off cuz starting over again and again sucks.  170.0 on the scale today, damn I wish it was 169.8 lol I dunno why I would feel better that's kinda stupid.

Today (wednesday, tomorrow and friday, then we go to Vegas!! 3 days from this moment we will be packing up the car and leaving for the airport.  I didn't get enough hours to buy cute sandals or monokini like I wanted :(  But my mom bought me 4 cute dresses I'm bringing and I will feel better in my clothes :)

There are champange brunches at almost every buffet Sunday morning, I'm thinking I'm going to.  Then I plan on having 1 meal at buffet/other sit down, 1meal at fast food (for money reasons) and snacks from our hotel.  I'm bringing some cookies, 90cal granola bars.  I don't think I'll be hungry at all for the snacks it's mostly for my hubby ;P  I will have to fill up on water, salad (light light dressing), steamed veg and of course I have to endulge we aren't doing this again forever.  I will have a small amount of whatever looks GOOOOD and a dessert.  I wish they had a scale there so I could weigh everyday and make sure I'm not eating too much.  I'm really worried.  When on our honeymoon I stuffed myself til I LITERALLY almost made myself puke cuz I felt like I was going to pop or puke.  I hate that feeling omg.  I'll just have to be very very careful to pay attention to what I'm putting in my mouth.

O also I'm bringing oatmeal for our hotel.  There is no fridge.  We are just staying in the "deluxe" pyramid room in Luxor.  lol deluxe is the cheapest they have kinda silly.  It has a coffee maker tho so I can have hot water for oatmeal/instant things.

Any ideas on other things I could bring or tips to help me at last maintain while I'm there??

I'm excited I've lost 20 lbs this year (dont think about the fact that I was this same weight last year...it's still 20 lbs lost)

Entry 1/2 marathon in April '10
Sep 21 2009 18:52

April 2010, about 30 weeks.  There is a weekend here in my city that has walks from 6k, 10k, 21k, 3xk(can'tremember), 42k.  Also some bike/swim races.  They are only $10 each to register and 30 weeks away I'm sure I can train to do the 1/2 marathon (21k).  It's just a walk but you can run if you want.  I don't want to win or anything or even get a good placing.  I just wanna finish "not last" and mostly finish it in one piece :P  cuz now I could do it but I would be sooo jello and worn out and about to die.  I'm trying to get my sis to go with me.  It's a great thing to look forward to.  I'm 170 now, I can be at my goal in 30 weeks and running/walking enough to make it through that 1/2 marathon.  Who knows maybe I'll do a full marathon in the summer if the 1/2 goes well.  It soooo helps me to have something to look forward to.  Like this trip to vegas has really kept me in check.  Especially the closer it gets.

Entry 5 day til Vegas
Sep 21 2009 10:32

No workthis weekend!!! UGH.  My sis in law is telling her mom about me, she works at Kohl's supervisor possition.  I want to get some steady work.  I'm thinking if I can get some cash handling/sales experience I can get in at a bank.  That's what my sis did.  I'm staying on call (as I am now) as a cna weekends then anytime at the store.  Hoping to get money back in our account.  It's dangerously low and we are going to vegas.  I'm stressed so this does have to do with my weightloss.  My husband agreed to spending less money on gambling.  Maybe he'll win some and it will last him a long time.  Plus I'm going to try to keep us busy with fun things that aren't gambling.

I went back down after that huge burger yesterday.  Man I was glad.  I'm trying hard to lose weight before our vacation.  My clothes are loose but I don't see a difference in the mirror and that's what other ppl notice.  Not your size or weight, what they see.  So I'm bummed about that.  I need to start working out again so my lose doesn't slow down.

Entry walk for the cure
Sep 20 2009 18:19

My mom, sis, sis in law and me all did the race for the cure of breast cancer today.  I resisted all the samples, only had water and a soylatte my sis in law brought me.  Then they insist on going out to red robin.  I had salmon burger with guacamole.  I WAS going to say no dijion sauce well turns out it would have been 500 cal instead of 900 cal.  DAMN that sauce.  I should have gotten it without :((((  I weighed when I got home and damn that burger I'm 1.5 up.  I know I should freak out.  But I am.  sorry.  at least I walked about 4miles total (we went back up around downtown after the race).......still bummed
