Hungry hungry day. I ate every time I was hungry so it added up to quite a lot, but it was mostly healthy food so oh well, maybe I just needed it. I am also totally stuck on ham and salad sandwiches right now, I want them every day!
I told my parents I was pregnant today and it went really well. The first time I rang only Dad was home, so I had a chat to him and then he asked Mum to ring me when she got home so I had a talk to her too. I wasn't sure what their reaction would be as I haven't finished my degree yet... And I was also put off telling people after the drama with my sister. But they were both very happy and excited for me, which made me happy too. Dad says he can't believe he will be a grandad twice over in one year, he thinks he is too young yet, haha.
Mac has also told his parents and everyone seems happy for us, it's so nice and much better than the reactions I had braced myself for. Mac has a two year old half brother, Jack, so we are inheriting all Jack's baby gear and baskets etc - it's going to be a huge help. The only thing I wonder about is that Jack is a whopper - 12.8lbs at birth and wearing clothes for a two year old at 6 months, so is all the baby gear going to be enormous??! Lol. I sincerely hope I do not have a baby that big, especially as his poor mother didn't have a caesarean and had to walk with a zimmer frame for a month afterwards... ouch!
I am so glad you told the grandparents-to-be! The items from Mac's parents will be perfect. My babies were just over 8 pounds each and neither fit the newborn size gifts ever (not even for the home coming drive), besides a cute baby t shirt and diaper in hot weather is sufficient along with those wonderful light flannel blankets <3 for wrapping up. Do they sell "onsies" where you are? They are cheap and very handy for one piece dressing of infants. You would only need more if you move to a colder climate or have serious air conditioning. I have a good feeling about you Meryl. You will finish that degree, you'll just take a short side trip along the way. Food sounds outstanding, so yummy for you and good for the Bean. |
Thanks jannid. I can't wait to start buying baby clothes! Trying to wait until at least the second trimester (I'm still only 11 weeks today) but I have had a sneaky look in a couple of baby shops, all the clothes are so ridiculously small and adorable! |
Sticky honey lemon chicken? That sounds intriguing. It is awesome that you're getting Jack's stuff! That will definitely help financially. And even if some of it is too big, hey, the Bean will grow :) |
I was thinking the same thing...sticky honey lemon chicken sounds awesome, I would love to try that! All your food today sounded yummy! If you were that hungry then you and the bean obviously needed it! Also not like it was junk food so you are doing great!!!! That is awesome that your parents know and are happy, as well as Mac's parents, so glad that went better than telling your sister! It is also great that you are getting Jack's stuff, that will help you out tremendously! I received a lot of clothes from Jason's sister when I had Troy and it made a huge difference! |
Glad it went well with the parents! Thats a relief. Great that you are getting Jack's stuff. My Husband's cousin is giving us all of her daughter's old stuff. The only thing is, its all very pink and girly, so if we have a boy we will either dress him all in pink or have to get new stuff! Feed that hunger! I am actually enjoying being able to eat so much now- the second trimester is great because the crazy cravings seem to have subsided, I am eating well but healthy, and exercising again. Feel wonderful. |
im glad it went well with the parents . i have to say i love reading your journal they always make me smile. that will be a big help , my he was a big baby though they might be a little big for the beanie but im sure beanie will grow into them :). im glad you are folowing your hunger it all looks healthy stuff nout wrong with ham sandwitches lol h x |
I have said this before, but I will say it again... I LOVE YOUR FOOD.. it just all SOUNDS so yummy... wonderful... My guy was 9 and a half pounds and long... was off tit in less than 9 weeks.. because he WANTED TO EAT MORE.. he was a big happy guy.. he is now a tall, skinny guy... but still, of course, at 17, growing like crazy.. he actually had another growth spurt when we were in Paris... all this hair arrived on his chest.. and he grew a half an inch.. we checked just to see... last night.. so funny.... I had such a fun time shopping for him as a baby and over the years.. so funny.. my mom came out once to visit... when he was baptised at about 3 months old... and the suit she bought him was too small... and this from a woman who had five kids and iwas the SMALLEST at 9 pounds... her biggest was 12 and a half.. my little brother.. and there were two ten pounders and a 12 pounder... Easy to dress in that lovely hot weather... onesies so great... the little tees ... GO RIGHT IN THERE AND EYE SHOP.. The French have a term I forget it right now in French.. the English translation is "to lick with the eyes" so in English slang... when you window shop you are "eye-licking" ... I suugest, that you boldly go right into those shops and affirm the positive ... eye lick your little butt off.... SO happy for you and Lsami... what a wonderful time of life!

My pregnancy was a surprise..... my first one, anyway:-) And it was a blessing, and even though you spend a bit of time breastfeeding you do have the ability to finish your goals!:-) Best of luck to you. |
woooooooooooooooooooooooohoooo SOO happy 4 u! |
Thanks everyone. Well this morning I received an email of congratulations from my aunt who lives in the UK, I swear my mother must have put down the phone on me and dialed her up! Good news travels fast! Here is the recipe for sticky lemon honey chicken if anyone would like it - http://caloriecount.about.com/sticky-lemon-chicken-recipe-r2 51418 Bonnie - love the description of "eye-licking", that sums it up pretty well! Lsami - definitely looking forward to the second trimester, I was 11 weeks yesterday so only 3 more weeks to go - can't wait. Are you going to find out if you're having a boy or a girl? Mac and I are already decided that we will found out as soon as we can - we're just too impatient to wait for a surprise.
|
the recipe looks delic but how in the world is it like 100 cals? lol 3 weeks to know the sex, wow, so fast!! |
It's not 100 cals it's about 450 I think because jannid worked it out. I put a note saying at the top I couldn't be bothered to search for all the ingredients on CC so it's not properly worked out lol. Also 3 weeks til the second trimester (14 weeks) but sadly longer than that til I can find out the sex - I think you can find out between 16-20 weeks but the longer you wait the more accurate it is. I can't wait and will def be finding out as soon as I can! |
Meryl- WE havent decided yet- initially I wanted the suspense but now I think I am so impatient to know that I cant wait! Next appointment in a week :) |
Good luck for the appointment! How exciting. |
