I actually broke the record for the longest run on the treadmill yesterday during my stress test. Haha. It wasn't even that long (17 minutes), but for those of you who have never had a stress test, you basically get all wired up, sticky things all over your chest and stomach to monitor your heart rate, then before you begin the test you lay down and they take images of your heart at rest (ultrasound pics at about 75 bpm). Then you get on the treadmill and it starts at 3 mph and increases in speed and height every 3 minutes, so you go from walking to running uphill.
The hardest thing is that the cardiologist stands there and talks to you throughout it so you have totalk while running, which makes it harder. Then when you've had enough you lay down real fast and they take pics of your heart again (at 185 bpm). With the exception of one minor thing that he thought was odd for my age (something called a dilated sinus in my left ventricle), he said I passed with flying colors. Then when the doc left the room his assistant came over to me and said "don't WebMD that dilated sinus, it's just going to scare you, and there is no way he'd let you leave here if he was concerned. You did awesome, much better than most people. You are in great shape". I felt a bromance coming on, so I put my shirt on and got the hell out of there.
My bloodwork results should be back today. Hopefully that is all good news. Next step will be a chest xray I guess. It's so much fun getting old.
How did I suddenly become the old man on CC?? I guess somebody has to be in our circle of CC friends.
Weight jumped up 3 pounds, probably bc I haven't been to the gym since Thursday. I'm going back tonight to run off the chocolate cake from last night, and the bacon. My daughter asked me to make her breakfast for dinner because bacon is her favorite and it was her bday. She gets what she wants.
I'm off tomorrow, and I can't wait. Need to go order some food for my daughters bday party, then take them to the train hobby shop. My son loves trains and their displays are amazing.
LOL bromance. 17 miles on a treadmil sounds awful! haha, glad the test went well though. :) |
Thanks Morgan, but it wasn't 17 miles, it was only 17 minutes. I'd die if it were 17 miles. Can you believe that 17 minutes is the record? I mean, the treadmill was inclined pretty high at one point at full speed, but still.... |
I think id fall off the tredmill at full incline. aha. I can bearly do 6-7 incline. Glad your not going to drop dead from stress any time soon but maybe from the chocolate cake and bacon. Oh my. lol. That girl of yours knows how to live though. FYI I am going to web md the dilated sinus but i wont tell you what it is in case you do freak over it. |
hahaha ok I read it too quickly, I was going to say, for 17 miles by the end of the increases you would be sprinting up a mountain, lol. |
I already WebMd'd it and found nothing. I just didn't like the way the doctor was explaining it. He said "do you have any history in your family of people just dropping down dead for no reason?" HAHA. I was like "um, no, but should I be worried that I'll be the first because of this sinus thing?". He said "no, just curious". But as we all know, a family history needs to start somewhere. No point in worrying about something that even my cardiologist isn't concerned about though. |
True, but I have little faith in the medical field today. |
that bromance comment was really funny, but at least the guy took away another possible stressor for you by telling you that. Your daugher sounds adorable and its cute you did that for her- I was such a daddy's girl too. I bet your weight was up 3lbs from water retention, not from skipping 3-4 days at the gym- no way you actually gained 3. |
Yay I'm glad the test went well! sounds stressful hahaha! How old is you daughter? |
dplatzer- thanks! He was really cool, and is from NY and told me way too much about his divorce within 2 minutes of meeting me. Haha. You're probably right about my weight. I'm not worried... fit4- Julia just turned 5, and she is already soooo high maintenance. I brought her home a bouquet of flowers last night after my stress test and she was checking to see if all of her favorites were there. Haha. |
don't be cheating on me with that other guy. I thought we had our own bromance. Now I want bacon. |
Sorry, buddy, but I'm not the "one bro" kind of guy. Too much of me to go around, ya know? Hahahaha. It was low sodium bacon, but bacon nonetheless. My daughter ate more than I did. She'll be out of pants with belt loops and into stretch pants in no time. Kidding....I promise not to give her a complex. |
Hahaha your daughter is such a cuttie. Chacking to make sure all her favorites are there is something I do. I love it! |
Aww, thank u Fit4. One of my accomplishments so far as a father has been to teach her how to get exactly what she wants without compromising her standards, while still having a strong sense of humility and without coming off like a spoiled brat. It wasn't easy, trust me. I didn't think it was possible. Most high maintenance people I know are straight up bi-otch"s. As she gets older it should be interesting to see how she develops. |
