Marsha Cat didn't get her stitches out today because the vet went home sick at lunchtime and didn't come back. When I showed up for my appointment at 4pm .... they told me that the other vet on staff didn't want to take the stitches out and to reschedule with the original vet. (Gosh, it would've been nice to get a phone call so I could've avoided stuffing the poor kitty in a crate and driving her all the way across town during rush hour for no reason, oh well.) Marsha's new appointment for her stitches to be removed is now on Sunday at 1:00pm.
We view our military pay stubs online and I was a bit disappointed to see that the Oct 1 check is incorrect, and missing about $95. I sent several emails to the pay people yesterday and today and have been assured that the matter will eventually get fixed. I was a bit surprised, frankly, since I didn't really expect them to mess up the pay until October 15, lol! They did, of course, assure me that there should be no further errors in his paychecks. (Hmmm... "the check is in the mail.")

WOO HOOO! My weigh-in Wednesday morning was a happy one ... .279.4! Just barely, but I'm happily back in the 270s! (Doing the Snoopy Happy Dance!)My wonderful DH Ron was, as always, loving, supportive and encouraging! Considering I was 286 when he left, I'm pretty jazzed that 6 of those pounds are already gone .... yay! My eye is still on "the prize" .... to get back down to 275 (that's the 100 pound mark), then to keep going. Dare I hope for 269 by the time he returns? Or close to it? WISH ME LUCK!
Wednesday night I went to a meeting of the Fresno Wildlife Rehabilitation Group (I'm a life member), and snapped some photos of the baby animals that were there ... baby squirrels, baby possums, baby owls, even hawks! I had a great time .... here's the photos.
THURSDAY MENU... I've decided to repeat, exactly, Wednesday's menu .... am I boring, or what? LOL!

I feel like this, some days!
OUCH!!!!!! OK, instead of biking 6.5 miles Tuesday, I ended up biking 9.5 miles -- because I went for a 3-mile bike ride after dinner! My legs were sore and I was pretty tired (much stopping/resting ... but it's all good, right?) but I was determined and "pushed through" and got it all done. I rewarded myself with 40 calories of sugar free jello and 40 calories of low fat whipped topping ... yummerz! I like to keep sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles on hand in case I just want "something" treatlike, ya know? I also find that radishes are handy for that, too .... and sometimes I'll grab a slice of fat free turkey bologna, too... depending on what I'm in the mood for.
On my schedule for Wednesday is a trip to Trader Joe's (need egg white salad, cherry tomatoes, fresh spinach and blueberry fiber cakes). Then, at 7pm, I have a meeting of the Fresno Wildlife Rehab Federation -- they do rescue/rehab for local wildlife (primarily raptors and other birds) .... and a lot of community education and outreach, too. Now I just have to figure out what to wear, lol. (I know, I know ... sorta silly .... but at least it gives me something to focus on, ya know?) I won't be biking unless I go in the morning since it's supposed to be 98 DEGREES! Yuck. The calendar says fall, the therometer says summer. Heck, maybe I'll just go swimming!

In celebration of yesterday being the first day of Fall, I got my bike out and went for a four mile bike ride! OUCH! GASP! FLOP! *THUD!* LOL .... sheesh, I sure seem to have lost my "biking legs" and "biking butt" since early June when I stopped riding due to hot weather/poor air quality. Anyway, I biked four miles yesterday and was pretty darn proud of myself! So..... today I decided to bike to the store (cucumbers and radishes) and to the pharmacy (prescriptions) .... and I biked SIX AND ONE HALF MILES! (I will now spend the rest of the day flopped on the couch, panting, thank you very much.) We'll be in the 90s today, so I really need to either wait for it to be a bit cooler, or perhaps I just need to get an earlier start. (What? Me? Get up early!?!? Bwahahahahahahaha)
By the way, my TOM should be ending soon, and the scale continues to be cooperative as I get back on track. This is now Day #4 of eating healthy/being back on track, and I'm renewing my love for lean protein, high fiber, and radishes. In fact, I bought five more bunches of radishes today! I started with needing to lose 12 pounds to get back down to 275, and I'm officially halfway there with 6 pounds lost (281). Oh, how I miss the 270s!!!! (Yooo hooo..... 270s? Where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu?????)

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!
I must admit that the scale is cooperating nicely, and I've lost 4 of the 12 or so pounds that snuck back on .... not bad for 3 days, huh? Of course it was water weight ... I rather suspected that some of it was, and I'm optimistic another pound or two will wander off later this week as my TOM ends. You can tell that fall weather is coming .... only mid-90s instead of 100s, lol! I am really hoping for nice weather on Saturday (not too hot) since I'm volunteering at a fundraiser called WIGGLE WAGGLE WALK for the Valley Animal Center. (I'm the photographer, how cool is THAT!?) I'm supposed to get together with a friend today around 11:40, wonder if I can avoid lunch and get her to go shopping instead? Hmmm..... fingers crossed.

Both these photos are by photographer Robert Knight ... I would love to have both of them hanging in my home, but he's waaaaay out of my price range!!!

Sunday morning here and it's a very pretty day so far. My wonderful DH called me this morning to say hello, which was nice. Of course I was ALREADY up, being poked and licked and climbed by inquisitive kitiies, especially Emily, Fuzzball and Scampi. And McIntosh came for a drive-by petting, too. They congregate in our bedroom in the morning to watch the flocks of doves in our bird feeders, plus the occasional squwawky jay, chittering squirrel, and fluttery finches n' sparrows.
I didn't take any bed-time insulin last night, and my blood sugar this morning was just fine ... 127. YAY! And the scale was 2.8 pounds less ... gotta love UNretaining water, huh? Always nice to see it move in the correct direction, ya know? Anyway, I'm off to a political rally about 10:30am .... so I am posting my menu and then heading to get dressed!

Well, my wonderful DH is off "on vacation," leaving me with a house-full of kitties, veggies and lean protein, lol! I've got 6.5 weeks to lose about 12 pounds to get me back to where I'd love to be (275) by the time that my wonderful DH steps off the plane in early November. It should be "theoretically" possible except for the fact that (1) my darn thyroid seems to have totally gone kaput and I can't increase my thyroid meds until November; and (2) my blood sugars have been on the high side (morning sugars anywhere from 130s to 160s and they really need to be 130 or lower) so I've been taking some overnight long-acting insulin.... which makes me hungrier ...aaarrrrrgghh! ANYWAY ... POSITIVE THOUGHTS! POSITIVE THOUGHTS! I CAN DO THIS! I CAN DO THIS! I CAN DO THIS!

I spent three delightful hours this afternoon at the CAT HOUSE ON THE KINGS (click for You Tube video) .... a no-kill, no-cage cat sanctuary located on the Kings River about an hour from Fresno. They have acres and acres of land, all enclosed with cat-fencing, and hundreds of adoptable kitties roam free throughout the grounds and the 5 bedroom house. (They also have a few rescue dogs, too!) I've signed up to volunteer for them (cat cuddler and office/fundraising help) ... so we went out this afternoon so I could see it in person. Check out the link ... (and pass it on) ... it's a pretty amazing place! I think I will try to make it out there about once a week while my wonderful DH is off "camping in the sandbox!"

In other cat news, Marsha continues to eat and to heal (woo hoo!) This morning we dropped off a basket-full of white kitty cookies at the vet's office as a "Thank You from Marsha" (our white kitty cat) -- for all their help and care for our furry little girl. My wonderful DH was willing to pose for me with the cookies!

Heh heh heh heh heh .... I saw this online, and thought it was pretty cool. Of course, I'm not really going to invest hundreds of dollars on this, but I did think it was one of those silly things that SOME people might purchase to amuse themselves, their guests, and their cats!
Where did I file those kittens? Did I file them under C for cat? K for kitten? Or was it under A for adorable? Isn't this the cutest photo? Found it on Cute Overload and it just makes me smile.... what great little furry faces, huh? Good news about Marsha -- she's now eating dry kibble (yay!) AND she sat on me and purred for about 30 minutes this afternoon! WOOO HOOO!

Tomorrow night (Friday) we're driving out to the country to a friend's house for a barbecue and visit. It should be nice ... and I suppose it's as good a way as any for my wonderful DH to spend his last evening at home for a while, huh? He's almost all packed, and has been spending time getting some last-minute things taken care of around the house. I'm pretty bummed that my diabetes is "acting up" right now .... I wonder if I am battling a virus or if stress is causing me to have high sugars? Anyway, I've been taking insulin for the past 14 days and would really like to get back off it, ya know?
