Extra sleep
Nov 25 2009 11:18
Yippers, I went back to bed after breakfast this morning and lo . . . just got up. Total of 3 extra hours of sleep and I still be feel Blah. That is ok, have lots to do and hopefully that will keep me going for the day until I totally exhaust out.
Weigh-in today 262.4, I see my legs are swollen because my socks are tight. Yeah, this old lady sleeps with socks. Any how, pretty much for today. Going to eat something give Beauty her medicine and start the major picking up of things today, again. I hope I don't get any mail that are bills.
Take care and God Bless.
Back to 145 pounds. :-(
Nov 24 2009 17:56
I have not been Calorie Counting or exercising for a few weeks (I hurt my hip) and I've gained back 6 pounds. I cannot do my roller blading right now, but the stationary bike isn't bothering me too bad, so I'm doing that instead. Time to get my nose back to the grindstone and lose this weight!

iT IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT!
Nov 24 2009 10:32
I just realized that I am doing pretty good all things considering.
You'll get over it...' It's the clichés that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve over is not erased by anyone but death.
As I read this I realized this is the season for some of great sadness. It was apparent by one of my friends who wrote this. So, today, I celebrate life, health and safety. I am blessed with a wonderful family, pets, housing, food and health (as it could always be worse).
I decided that I was going to weigh in on Wednesday the day before Thanksgiving. It is said in my Diabetes Self Management magazine there are a couple of reasons why a person has stalled weight loss.
They are if you are eating to maintain energy for the exercise you are doing. This is really basically for diabetes who eat to bring up their blood sugar. But the KEY ONE THAT I KNEW about but always forgot to mention to those of you who this applies to is. SLEEP. You must be getting between7-9 hours straighted RESTED Sleep. No not what time you go to bed and GET UP. Actual sleep time.
If you are interested in the magazine, I am sure you can find the article in
www.diabetesselfmanagement.org
"Why can't I loose weight" is the article title. On page 8 if that matters to get it from the website. NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
Take care and I am having a good day.
Oh, the rotor cuff now! EDIT UPDATE GAME
Nov 23 2009 13:31
Edit:
For lunch I had crab meat and sauce. Really didn't feel like eating much of anything else, so I didn't. For dinner I had leftover homemade beef stew, while Dh had the left over homemade chicken noodle soup and crackers. I also added crackers and cheese to my meal also. Dosed my self with insulin and we will see where it puts me in a couple of hours.
I have developed my own food fight for cc: If you wish to participate come and join in. I already threw Pecan Pie to someone. What will you throw at me. The whole idea here is to see what you will get rid of. Enjoy the game.
I have shoulder pain at the rotor cuff. And the hip pain is in the distant background, but I know it is still there. I am only climbing the stairs to go to bed/nap. I have spent an extra 3 hours in bed again today. I got up at 9:45 and laid back down at 10:45 and just woke my lovely self up because the old back got cold and so did the feet. The blankets fell off me.
The house was quite, snoring was going on but it wasn't the DH . . Imagine who it could be. It was Sandy my wonderful dog that I spent an entire year with recuperating from ACL surgery. Remember all that stuff you guys. Well the weather is hitting her and arthritis has set in both the animals and the humans in our house. Darn it is awful getting old. You know?
Well back to the diet front, I had two oats and honey granola bars today with 1% milk. I have been getting that lately because it has a better expiration date on it by about 3 days. I sure can tell the difference. My goal is not to weigh in until Wednesday, lets see if I can last. The pants feel loose and the sweatshirt I am wearing is going further down my body, covering that rear-end of mine. LOL> Anyhow, I am really pretty good at the moment, so I better get off here and get some things around the house done. I also have three books I have to read before December 8th. Right now my DH is reading. It is funny to see him actually sit down and read and actually focus on it.
Take care and God Bless.
Power of prayer
Nov 22 2009 10:16
It never seems to fail me, you wonderful friends who pray for me and usually on a daily basis something is going on in my life., Probably everyone else has a lot of issues too but I seem to take the cake on that one. Thanks for the prayers. I just wanted to let you all know I slept pretty good last night. My DH rubbed me in and I rubbed him in. I slept under 3 blankets and was really warm and only got up twice for the restroom. and One time early to let the dogs out. Imagine 6 am.
My wake up time today was 9:45 with a bs of 86. SO things are looking up. I gave my dear Beauty her meds and she took it pretty well. Now all I need to do is report my weigh-in to you all
261.2 can you believe that! I am down. . . . Lets hope it isn't a fluke.
TAKE CARE NOW, GOD BLESS.
AND FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT KNOW MY FRIEND GYPSIEROSE. SHE HAD A PROBLEM WITH HER ACCOUNT AND THEY COULDN'T FIX IT SO NOW HER ID IS ROSIEGYPSIE, SO FEEL FREE TO ADD HER.
About last nights sleep.
Nov 21 2009 12:00
I woke up several times last night in pain, but the times I woke up were when the meds had worn off. So, at least the meds are keeping me in a pattern of sleep. My right shoulder now is hurting, but has been for many months, I just bare with it. I think I might need a shot there too but not at the present moment.
There was no weigh in today as I didn't go to the diet support group TOPS, due to the pain and lack of mobility. I did although at 11:30 go to the grocery store and managed to purchase potatoes, gravy and stuffing. I will save the soda pop for the guys later on to get should there be a desire to have it for Thanksgiving and even then, I will probably get it at the dollar store and not worry about the lines in the grocery store.
Please you all, can you pray that I have enough pain relief to get my living room in order and my dining room. They are totally wrecked from the sorting of closets from Tuesday and Wednesday. My fellas don't know where I want the stuff and by the time I tell them, I could have done it myself. You know?
Take care you all and have a wonderful weekend. Right now, I am going to watch some TV and sit on a heating pad.
God Bless.
Shin splints
Nov 20 2009 16:08
I have been trying to switch up my running with the stair stepper, elliptical, and bikes. I have been getting shin splints developing in my left leg. I don't want to over stress it because I got shin splints really bad the first time I picked up jogging. My quad on my left leg has been acting up too. I think that this is my body saying that I need to do better warm-ups and stretch more.

Drs. appointment about hip
Nov 20 2009 16:35
As you can imagine, I am still in pain from the hiop so I went to the doctor today. The diagnosis is I have burisitis in the hip and I received an injection for it. If it doesn't get any better I will need an orthopaedic. Lets hope not.
I will be taking meds until I feel better, but I am not suppose to climb too many steps, or bend down. I do although have an exercise I need to do and I will start that on Monday. So for now, I may or may not be on the computer - it all depends on how I feel when I get up in the morning.
Take care all and the dogs are doing pretty good today. Son came home and we went for wings. God bless.
Yesterday's post was late evening
Nov 19 2009 08:52
Read it if you want to know what is going on.
Today I started the day getting my blood drawn for my chlosterol. When I got up I felt fine so I got dressed without delay and left. I got there and registered then I checked my blood sugar and it was 78. A good number but at that point and first thing in the morning it usually drops fast. I got a technician and she did spectular. I have the tinyest of veins and she got the vein the first draw. Of course, I suggested to her to use the butterfly and she said she had thought about that. Before I left I had to eat my packet of trail mix so my blood sugar wouldn't crash on me driving home.
Since she did such a specular job, I phoned the lab manager to give her a compliment. She was a student nurse and is almost upon graduation. I can't wait for him to call back.
The rest of the day will be spent organizing the mess I made in the living room from all those clothes I sorted through. And believe it or not. The pain is mimimal in the hip, but I am still going to take the ibuprophen for a couple of days. That is pretty much it. Oh, yeah, only two Christmas presents for my son this year. One was Star Trek Nemesis a used video and the other is the new "Star Trek". It is on sale at Best Buy for 12.,99. So oft I go at 10am to get it.
Take care and God Bless. . . .
I wasn't going to give up!
Nov 18 2009 21:34
Well, this is a late post because of the pain in the left hip. Ice, heat, massager, warm bath, pain meds and ibuprophen haven't helped. I am listless at the moment. But what I did accomplish was sorting through 4 bags of clothes that were in our spare room. My DH brought them down to me in the living room.
Two bags I gave to my mother and one bag is going to the donation center, while one bag is to DOWNSIZE INTO!. How do you like that DOWNSIZE INTO. It will feel like a whole new shopping experience in a thrift store when I finally get down to that size.
Again another day of no weigh in. But this is what I had to eat today.
Breakfast was two oats and honey granola bar with 8 ounce ff skim milk
Lunch was 4 cups of HOMEMADE chicken noodle soup
Dinner was 4 slices of pizza from the parlor. I almost fell walking into the place but caught myself on the SUV. My blood sugars stayed within range two hours after eating that and also three hours eating that, which means I gave myself the right insulin dosage.
My snacks today were 6 pretzles and 1/2 bag of microwave lightly buttered popcorn. Usually I eat air popped, but I didn't feel like cleaning out our bowl from last night because it hurts to stand. DH was upstairs, so I thought I'd sneak some, but he came down when he smelled it. I felt guilty so I gave him the bag of what I would have eaten had I not felt guilty. I am I good wife or what?
Take care and God Bless. . . .
P.S. He'd be a good husband had he did all the dishes right? lol.
