Entry I didn't see that comming

OK, so without warning or notice I am able to go out with my husband - kidless- the day sucked but thats another story.

After the movie we go to Chili's & I know I'll blow the calories up, but I had no idea what I'd find out when I got home.

I ordered a half appetizer and half meal and a key lime shot.  Turns out my cheating dessert was best thing I had at 240 calories.

I only calculated what I ate & I was very strict about eating half of the half app/meal well after dividing by 2 and adding my 240calorie dessert I totaled for 1 meal 1,876 calories.   I didn't see that comming.

Check out this menu and avoid Chili's http://www.brinker.com/gr/nutritional/chilis_nutrition_menu. pdf

Don't berate yourself for this Chili's episode. Putting it another way: You had a date with husband and had a good time while still watching what you ate! This is a rare event and not something you do often, so just enjoy it for what it was--time together as a couple!Wink Just imagine how many calories and carbs and fats it would have been if you hadn't had only Half! Actually, you did Very Well for having a meal at Chili's! I used to love going there once in a great while too, but after CC, I decided to investigate some of my favorite restaurants and looking at what the values were on the foods. Well, let's just say I can now avoid some very unpleasant affects! We work Too Hard to lose each pound and inch, so it's just not worth it to me to frequent those places at this time...probably not for a year or more! I'm glad we can check all these things out online now, and make better choices. Good for you in recognizing the evil that lurks in those tempting foods-Lol! But you had a nice time, which counts for a a whole lot, and tomorrow, you can begin again doing what you know is right and healthy. Don't Worry--Be Happy!Laughing

OMG... that menu/nutritional chart is AWFUL. Luckily, no Chili's where I live. LOTS of awesome Italian restaurants though. We went out for our anniversary on June 30th. I ate 3 pieces of white bread with dip (oil, salt & roasted red pepper puree). I chose a baked fish dinner... but still went way over my calories.

With a house full of young children... we don't get out too often though. So enjoy it!

I'm really focussing on getting lots of lean proteins and paying attention to what my body really wants. This morning, I had a mad craving for nuts... 1/4 cup of dry roasted, unsalted almonds was exactly what I needed.

Every change you make counts... half a serving instead of a full serving... skipping the milk duds at the theater (my absolute favourite movie snack)... Just think, a few months ago, you probably would've gone a lot more overboard!!! I know I would've!

I think I am able to turn away from restaurant foods easier when I see just how much Junk goes into some of the offerings! In fact, many of the additives are things I never would've guessed would be in some foods!

Focusing on lean proteins is really good, along with what your body wants. The nuts you ate were packed with protein and healthy oils, so maybe you really are doing a great thing giving in to some cravings!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the kids...they're only small for a little while! Enjoy!
