Cals Consumed 1649

Cals Burned: 1610 (prolly more cuz I use the sedentary setting on my account and usually log my activities. Didn't log the miscellany of things I did yesterday.)

Got a C+ for yesterday. It was the beer & bocas.

Lost 2.5 pnds overnight

I can safely assume it was bloat. Its a great reward to lose 2.5 pnds within 24 hours of trying. I think I'll keep it up.

Now I am having a prob with Firefox. I DLd an update and it crashes Norton. I had to DL Google Chrome. Using it now. Seems fine. But now I'm off to remove Firefox comletely, probably reboot and try Norton again.

Its a home-day. Dishes, laundry, cooking.

Breakfast: A slice of multigrain toast wita little Earth Balance, oolong tea with stevia

Lunch: Green salad with leftover red snapper and a little pasta salad

Dinner: Boneless chicken breast cooked in a skillet in the oven with tomato sauce seasoned with onions, garlic & chipotle, roasted corn and zucchini sauteed in XVOO & garlic

Snacks: Fruit, popcorn

Exercise: yoga (I'm about to go and do), later... abs video & stretch

That's me. Laters!

Back in the Saddle

The Mellow Mushroom job is OVAH! Mrpew is home and catching-up on some much-needed sleep. Now its time to turn my attention back to my health.

In the last 3 weeks I've regained the 5 pnds I lost in the preceding month. I think this BC pill has something to do with it. I've been bleeding for nearly a month now. I start a new one, Alesse, on Monday.

*crosses fingers*

I hope this one is better.

So I'm back to logging my food & weight. My BMI is up to 27.9! I'm 157 pnds. My thighs rub together so much you can hear me coming down the hall, swish, swish... I can't wear shorts shorter than just above the knees or they wind-up wadded into a sweaty ball in my crotch. My biceps are almost as big as my 6'2" man of 187 pnds. I feel bloated all the time, not just at night. Its a miserable way to feel. I feel about as unsexy as I have ever felt. All my clothes are tight and uncomfortable. I have two chins all the time now, not just when I look down! My wt really shows in my face. I'm all round and getting sorta jowly. Ew!

Can you firm your abs by holding in your gut a lot? jk. Don't answer that.

What I need is roughage. That and smaller portions. What I eat is not nearly as much a problem as how much I eat.

Now that the job is done, all that remains is to get the last check. Once that is in the kitty I'm taking my laptop to have the hard-drive replaced and routing it onto the ISP so I have my wireless connection in the house again. That way, Mrpew can fart around (work) as much as he wants on the PC and I'll have my MAC laptop to log my food and talk to you guys. I need this place. I slip after awhile of not logging my food.

The hardest thing about weight-loss is hunger. Its a simple fact nobody can ever get around. If you want to lose weight you will have to experience hunger to some degree, on a daily basis. Somehow, I wind-up feeding myself as soon as I feel hunger and that's when I stop losing wt. Then, when I stop exercising, I gain wt. *sigh*

Ok, so here I go again. 157 pounds! Holy Shlamoly! I'm 2 pnds lighter than the heaviest of my life! If I ever get to 160 just put me outta my misery. I'll just go out to pasture and forget it.

I did learn some things about myself, which I had almost forgotten, while Mrpew was outta town....

I eat less meat when left on my own. When thinking of my husband, and cooking for him, I prepare something with meat in it almost daily. When its just me, I'll eat meat, (chicken, fish, pork, beef - in that order of frequency), maybe once - three times a week.

I eat less "comfort foods" when left to myself, like mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, white bread, cookies and Tater Tots. I'm actually more a chips & salsa person.

I drink more than I should when I am alone. I bet this would adjust if I had a week to myself. I get in a celebratory mood when he leaves, and that wears off after a few days. If I had a couple of weeks alone I bet I'd get into a healthier routine.

I tend to snack more at night cuz there's nobody here for me to project my embarrassment onto. Its just me. I hold-back when he's here cuz I feel a little embarrassed to eat later at night anything other than fruit or popcorn.

So here are my gudelines:

Eat breakfast, small, light, the size of my fist, complex carbs.

Have raw veggies with lunch. Limit all else with that to the size of my fist, includes any starchy vegs, meat, tofu/tempeh, dressings, sauces, legumes,... anything that isn't a raw, non-starchy veg. I can have all the raw NS vegs I want.

Have an early (6:30-7:30pm) dinner, and make it small, again, no bigger than fist-size, aside from raw, NS veggies.

Eat at least one piece of fruit a day. This is a tough one. If I do it, I am less-likely to eat granola bars and chocolate ice cream or cookies.

Limit my wine/beer consumption to 2 in any given day. Frequency is not a prob for me. I don't generally drink more than 2-3 days outta the week.

Some helpful things are....

psyllium husk twice a day on an empty stomach.

continue with my colon-cleansing herbs.

drink a big glass of water with a little squirt of lemon juice 1st thing in the morning.

sub coffee & soymilk with green tea, alternating every day.

yoga in the mornings after coffee/tea but before breakfast.

some kind of exercise during the day (not yoga)... core, legs, aerobic, treadmill.... as long as its 20 mins minimum/day, every other day, at least.

I dunno how I got like this. I used to be so athletic. I am really struggling to shake the lethargy. I have to do this though. I am clinically overweight. I don't like the way I feel. I've never been this big. Well, actually, I was this big when I was married before back in my 20's. But I was about 20 pnds lighter. Go figure.

So here I go.

Day's Plans

Today....

last-minute shopping at the farmer's market - I wanna get there just as it opens

get a bag of ice for the cooler

make potato salad, pasta salad & hummus

make breakfast burritos - 5 each: egg, cheese & sausage and egg, cheese & bacon - freeze all but two

make sandwich rollups, 4, with veggies & hummus (road food for the boyz)

clean the kitchen which will prolly be in disarray by then

make beef stew - a whole mess of it! have it for dinner and freeze leftovers in serving-size containers, except 2 servings for the boyz' dinner tomorrow night.

To Eat....

BF: Toast with Earth Balance, banana

L: Turkey-Spinach burger (no bun) and a green salad with hummus dressing (basically just watered-down hummus)

D: Beef Stew

The house is getting to be a mess, where the boyz have left work-stuff laying around. I'm afraid its gonna still be here after they have left so I may be cleaning it all up just after the go tomorrow. No big deal. I'll just put it all in the closet & close the door. Easy-peasy.

I think I had a little too much to drink last night. I underestimated how long diner would take to make and it wasn't ready until after 8pm. So I had some more wine in lieu of food. If I drink after dinnertime I tend to feel it the next morning. I'm feeling it now. I'll be fine. Just finished my coffee. I'll have some toast and get outta here.

So I think that's me.

Ricky

Dear Ricky,

I wanted to take a moment to let you know how loved you are. I miss you, my dear Uncle. Its been about 7 years since you departed this planet and, in this last seven years, I have longed to know you better than I did, as the adult I am now. I think you would have liked me as a friend, who I am now. Yea, I think so.

I think back on how you used to welcome me so excitedly when I was a little girl. You used to pick me up and flip me over your back and tickle me til I almost peed my pants! Even when I was a little too big you'd do it anyway, just cuz I loved it so much! You were the best Uncle a girl could ever have.

You and your parents, my Grandparents, are dearly missed. It was very hard to lose you and Grandma in the same month. But news of your terminal illness brought me outta what may have otherwise been my demise in Oregon. In a way, your passing saved my life. Thank you.

I have been downloading and listening to some of your favorite old music, Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet,... It makes me feel closer to you.

I am now the age you were when you died, 40. Thinking of you like this makes me wonder why it is we so often hide our deepest spiritual selves from one another. In your later years you were so spiritual. Its a shame we didn't get to share any more of that. But I will see you on the other side, though I am in no hurry. I feel you here with me as I listen to this music you loved so much. I see you smiling, kinda giggling. Its good.

Take care of yourself. Don't let me bind you here to this Earth. I know you want to protect me. I know you know how hard this life has been for me. But I chose this. I chose it all before this incarnation. So you go and do what you need to do, okay? We will meet again, I am certain of that.

I love you, Ricky. I always will.

Cynthia

(or as you used to know me, Cyndi)

PS... you can think of me as the big, blue-eyed blonde little girl of age seven if you like. I'll always remember how you took really long showers listening to music and the bathroom was always left smelling of what I know now to be weed!

Exhausting Day

OMG! What an exhausting day! I'm too tired to even type about it. Suffice it to say that nothing bad happened. But my feet are sore from walking around all day and I'm thirsty as hell!

I got dinner at the farmer's market buffet while I was there. A rotisserie chicken. Its just a little fryer-girl but still, ready to eat at $5.99 aint bad. Also got an assortment of sides to go-with. There are leftovers, as usual. I got way too much food. It was my last stop, or was supposed to be anyway, and I was hungry.

I'm off to the ah chat. I can't take any of this serious stuff. Too tired.
