I have been sick the last few days and still don't feel the best in the world, but I will live!!  I am down 3 pounds and hope this stays off and not totally due to me being sick.  I haven't felt like eating much and I have slept a lot!!  So I will get back in to my walking when I feel back to par.

Entry Need to buckle back down

I haven't lost any weight in the last month.  I have been traveling and not being at home to cook my food and plan has hampered my weight loss or lack of.  It is really hard to fit in exercise and the correct food when traveling. 

I think I did well not to gain any weight but I need to get back on track and start back to logging my foods, exercise and journaling.  The weather has cooled down and it has felt great outside.  However, we have gotten losts of rain lately. 

I have been reading some about cutting out meats and eating more veggies, beans, fruits etc.  This is something I am going to try to focus on and also cutting out or down on sugars in foods.  More later.

Entry Yikes, off track (some)

Wow, where does time go?  I have been traveling and have gotten off track keeping my journal and logging my food.  I think I did pretty good eating while I traveled but since I got home, not the best.  I have not logged my food and have snacked on chocolate animal crackers and chips, eaten right out of the bag. I know too many to count the calories &/or servings.  YIKES!!  Gotta get back on track and will not buy any more chocolate animal crackers....my weakness at the moment, can't resist them so I will not buy them.

I did get in my exercise while away, which was good.  It's just been difficult to make myself exercise since I've been home.  What's up with that??? weird! Mental, mental mental.  Gotta get over this. 

Will get back on track, go back to logging my foods everyday and getting my exercise in.  Until next time....be good!

Goal:  exercise 5 days a week and lose 10 lbs. by Dec. 9th!!

Entry Getting in a rut with my food choices

I have found myself in a rut with my food choices and have strayed from healthy eating this weekend.   I have been eating many of the same foods day in and day out and I guess I am bored with those foods and need to incorporate others and learn how to still stay in my calorie range.  I have eaten foods that has not been any benefit to my body but I have logged them.  I have also gotten in exercise this weekend so I hope this counter acts what I have eaten. 

I weigh in the morning and I will see the damage.  I am going to search for recipes and foods that I can substitute for now and stay in my calorie range. 

This is where the hard part starts and when I usually give up with a diet and go back to my old way of eating.  I keep telling myself that this is a life style change and not something temporary.  I CAN DO THIS!! I have to stick to this, this is my life!!

Entry Labor Day Weekend and one pound up!

Getting back on track after the Labor Day Weekend of cookouts and tons of food.  I did eat too much and my scale went up one pound.  It could have been worse and I am thankful that it's not.  I had a nice walk both yesterday and today, adding more distance and some cleaning outside causing me to work up a big sweat!! 

I can definitely tell a difference when I get off my eating plan and eat foods that I have not been eating.  I feel so much better when I eat healthy and must remember that when tempted by those other foods!

Entry Finally cooler weather! Lovin' it

Cooler weather have finally hit NC and I'm lovin' it.  The humidity is gone (for now) and it makes it so nice when I go outdoors for anything!! I don't know how long it will last but for the last few days it have been great!  I know that it is not here to stay, too early yet. 

I have been getting my walking at home and walking playing golf in and have gotten into a routine.  I am feeling better and knew I would just can't figure out why it took me so long to get out the door and commit.  I've also added talking the stairs to and from work.  That's 3 flights of stairs and I still get winded.  I don't work every day so I have had breaks between days. 

I have been reading blogs and information on the internet about cutting out artificial sugars.  I stopped by Trader Joe's today and bought Organic Stevia Extract.  I met another shopper and she said she really liked it.  I'm going to give it a try and replace Splenda, Sweet n' low and any of the others. 

Anyone out there that can give me feedback on Stevia or others products let me hear from you.

Entry Blisters Ouch!

I have played golf for the last two evenings and walked 9 holes each night and now I have a huge BLISTER on my right foot on one of my toes!!!  OUCH!  It's weird that this toe is the one to always get a blister.  I will have to wait a day or so before I can walk for exercise (at a faster pace).  This is when I need a bike to ride to save my toes!!  I'm going to look into this!  Growing up I loved to ride my bike.  I grew up in a small town and it was safe to ride anywhere even as a kid.  Wow, how time has changed. 

Just another day with challenges in this journey to lose weight.

Entry Exercise

I have gradually added more exercise to my weeks.  I have started walking more when I play golf.  I am walking during the week 30 minutes and taking the stairs in the parking deck at work.  I have to walk 3 flights of steps.  It is getting easier to do those.  I still have some days that I don't feel like exercise but I think that is okay.  I know this is a long journey and as long as I continue to change things up and do some form of exercise each week and lose weight I am on the right road.

I finally got out the door this week and made myself walk and it is paying off.  I am down 22 lbs. since June, when I went to the doctor.  WOW!  I am proud of myself. 

I am eating soooooo much healthier than I ever have and loving it!  I have a small garden and when it stopped producing I started going to the local farmer's market.  I have been going twice a week and that has been a GREAT help to me.  It keeps me out of the grocery store with all the isles I don't need to go down anyway!!

I am proud that I am doing this MYSELF, not by surgery or a program(other than this website).  This is exercise and eating healthy.  Thanks to this site and all the healthy recipes that can be found on the internet now!

Entry caught myself eating too fast

It's interesting to me to see changes in my behavior that I have never noticed before.  Today, I caught myself eating too fast.  I was not chewing my food fully and taking bites too quickly.  This is a big moment of awareness for me.   I have always eaten without being aware of what I was eating and not really thinking about it. This is something that again I am just becoming aware of.   Now I try to not do anything else while I eat like read or watch tv.  I am noticing when I eat certain foods I get hungry quicker and when I eat other foods, high fiber, I don't get as hungry as fast.  I'm NOT missing soda; tea and water are fine and I prefer them now.  

I have a long way to go in this journey but these small changes I know will continue to enable me to succeed.
