Happy November 1st!

It's been awhile since I have written. I am still not reading your journal entries like I should...every time I get in a groove of doing that, something else comes up. I know I will get back on track someday!

School has kept me busy busy busy. Grading papers is the WORST! I spend at least an hour a day grading and recording papers, and trying to keep track of who didn't turn in an assignment, and grading assignments from students who were out that day. I've had two students out with bronchitis and stomach virus, but thankfully no H1N1 yet, although we've had a few cases crop up at school. They had a flu clinic last weekend and several kids got the nose spray. I have not had a flu shot (EVER) and am not planning on getting either shot. We will see how that goes!

Weight front: still hanging in there at 136.0. This is a great number for me, one I have not seen for some time. My secret: I've tried to retrain my body and brain so that I eat a large breakfast, medium lunch, and very small supper. I do so much better when I get the majority of my calories in the beginning part of the day. I kind of got away from this thinking for a few weeks but am getting back on track.

Good luck everyone!

October 10--another year older!

Yesterday was my 28th birthday! My 27th year was full of life-changes: divorce, switching schools, health issues, and a minor car wreck. I also received word I can remodel my great-grandparent's farmhouse this year. Hopefully my 28th year will be full of many BLESSINGS and POSITIVE things!

Weight front: Weight was up this week due to birthday festivities. I have gotten my body used to eating a large breakfast, medium-sized lunch, and small dinner. This week I've been eating all the time it seems! So weight is up, but it's nothing I can't manage.

I've been trying to read journals here and there. I hope you are all staying happy, healthy, and positive!

September 25-sick!

I have been home from school yesterday and today with sickness. It is mostly a low-grade fever (around 97 degrees), aches, chills, and a sore throat. It's also been raining nonstop here the past two days. I think the weather makes me feel worse! I feel much better this afternoon and have been making out lesson plans and grading papers. Now it's time for a nap!

My weight has been steadily going down. It was 138.8 earlier this week. I may keep that for my weigh-in this week because my weight will be all skewed since I've been sick.

My kids are still a train wreck waiting to happen. We do our best every day. They are well-behaved but very chatty. This week was very rough with them, so that may have been part of the reason I have just wanted to sleep, sleep, sleep!

I've read a few journals. Mamarose's husband has been updating her care page. She has pancreatic cancer and is going to be in contact with hospice on Friday. Please keep her family in your prayers!

I can't believe I wait so long in between my journal entries. I don't know where the time goes! I miss reading your journals here on CC. Now that things have settled down with school (a little) and in my personal life, hopefully I will be a little bit better at being a CC friend!

My borderline hypoglycemia is still around. :( The doctor said it could go away, or it might stay around. I notice it most in the mornings if I don't eat a balanced breakfast (which I usually do during the week--not so much on weekends). I have been taking a vitamin B "super" vitamin and have not had the fatigue that I have experienced most of my life. I actually have the stamina to make it through a day without getting so tired!!

I have been riding my bicycle everywhere during the week. It's 0.37 miles to school, for a round trip of 0.72. I ride to the bank, post office, etc. as well. Not only am I saving on gas, but I'm getting in some much-needed exercise as well. I still walk with my girlfriend from high school once a week, and now am walking with a former coworker once a week too!! I had lent my Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit to a friend this summer and just got it back, so I can't wait to start in on my yoga again.

I'm trying to get some things with my personal life straightened out too. My divorce was final the end of July and my ex-husband and I are still friendly. We speak every couple of weeks or so, and I even watched his apartment when he went on vacation. I had been dating a guy this summer. We really hit it off to begin with, but he had a very messed-up life (in my opinion). He has been on house-arrest, has no job, and is addicted to alcohol and nicotine. I had been trying to help him straighten his life out and turn himself around, but I can't do that anymore. He has taken advantage of me several times and is demanding and self-centered. Although my heart breaks at this, I have to take care of myself right now. He doesn't want to help himself, and until he makes that decision for himself, I can't be much help to him.

My new house is coming along. A new roof was put on this summer and I have slowly been going through things and boxing up items, pitching things, and finding homes for other stuff. It's going to be a long process but I'm not in any hurry. It gives me something to occupy my time besides school and health!!!

I hope you are all well. I can't wait to get back into the groove of cc!!!

Happy Labor Day Eve!

It's hard to believe it's Labor Day Weekend already! I've got 3 weeks and 2 days of this school year under my belt. WOW! Teaching 5th grade has been a great challenge for me--one I'm not doing so well with. I have trouble in the area of discipline with my students. I really really miss my old school and my preschool kids!!!!!!

My weight is holding fairly steady at 141.0. I've been riding my bicycle to school and out to the country on weekends. I haven't been watching my eating quite as closely, but now it's time to get back in the swing of things with that. My "borderline" hypoglycemia has evened itself out so I haven't had problems from that for a few weeks now. I don't go back to the dostor until after Christmas for a cholesterol check.

I haven't started reading journals yet, but I need to do so. I'm just finding it hard to get all my school stuff done then sit at the computer longer to read emails and journals. BUT--that's not an excuse and I just need to do it. I hope everyone is hanging in there!

2 Days Under My Belt!

I have officially been a 5th grade teacher for 2 days now. It's great!!!! I miss my little kiddos a LOT, but it's such a relief to me to have more independent students. We've had a lot of fun getting to know each other and on Monday we dive into the curriculum!

Haven't been back to the gym yet, but hope to ease back in this week. I'm going to take it slow so I will stick with a routine. Eating has been better now that I am in a routine. My weight this morning was 140.8 lbs. I have been holding steady between 142-143 lbs the past several weeks, so it's nice to see lower numbers. I am still a ways from my ultimate goal of 120lbs, but heading in the right direction!

I still haven't caught up on journals, etc. I'm hoping to start in soon!!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy!

T-minus 17 days until school begins! I can't believe it. Soon I will be teaching 5th grade in a different building than I was in last year. I have been working in my classroom; decorating, familiarizing myself with a new classroom, and starting to go through all my teaching materials. It will be here before I know it!

My mom is having some surgery today. During her yearly exam, her doctor found that she was swelled to the size of a 3-month pregnancy, and found fibroid tumors in her uterus. Today my mom is undergoing a D&C followed by an ablasion. She's really looking forward to no more TOM after this procedure!

My weight has stabilized and I am getting better control over my "borderline" hypoglycemia. I can definitely tell when I don't feel well, and, as per doctor's orders, I carry some candy in my purse in case I am out and about and can't get somewhere to eat. It's frustrating and incovenient. I am hoping that once the school year starts and I get back to the gym in a regular schedule, this will straighten itself out and I will feel better.

Nothing much new to report. The weather here has been pleasant and I have taken up playing golf again with some friends. I've been three times in the past week! It's a fun, but pricey hobby.

I hope everyone is doing well. I haven't had time to read journals much, but hope to start up again after school gets started!

Wow! It's been another hectic week-and-a-half. I hope I get some rest before school begins IN ONE MONTH!!! Yes, I said ONE MONTH from TODAY!!! And I am nowhere near ready!

I went to the doctor on Friday. My tests came back OK, but he is concerned that I may have borderline hypoglycemia. Basically, I need to watch what I eat, keep up the exercise, drink plenty of water, and pay attention to WHEN I eat. Also, I had a viral infection sometime within the past month or so that could have played havoc with my pancreas, causing some of my problems. For now, I just need to keep careful tabs on my diet & exercise. So....I have went to the gym twice since that appt. and hope to keep it up. It's so easy to get out of the habit!!!

I am still mourning the loss of my beagle on the Fourth of July. My cat is beside himself--he just doesn't understand why she's gone. We've spent a lot of time snuggling together.

Haven't done much work on my new house. I'm at the point where I need someone else to tell me what I can throw away and what I can keep...

Heavenly, I haven't forgotten about your challenge. I need to get on the ball! I keep forgetting to weigh in the mornings...got a note on the bathroom mirror that says WEIGH IN!!!

Hope everyone is hanging in there!!!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and didn't overindulge! I know I did. :)

On a sad note--my beagle dog, Hailey, got loose Friday night. I think the fireworks being set off in the neighborhood scared her. Anyways, I didn't realize she was gone until later on Saturday. A friend contacted me via Facebook and said she had seen a beagle hit on the highway not far from my house. Sure enough, it was my Hailey. My dad and brother dug her a grave at their house today and we buried her. I am so sad! I had her nearly six years. She's gonna be missed by not only me but my whole family.

Forgot to weigh in this morning, so I will weigh tomorrow for heavenly's new challenge. Trying to get my diet back under control and plan on starting back to the gym tomorrow. I've got to get a better handle on my health & fitness. I have a dr. appt. on Friday the 10th for my bloodwork results!!!

July 2

Hello everyone! Thanks for your PM's and phone calls. I am doing well. Haven't heard back from the blood tests yet, but I go to the doctor on the 10th for a follow-up appt. and will let you all know how things are going then.

I broke the power cord for my laptop earlier this week. I have ordered a new one, but who knows when it will be in, given the holiday week. So...if I don't respond for a while, know that I am still here in *spirit*.

Weight is holding steady at around 142lbs. I have been trying to concentrate more on my diet and sleep than I have my exercise. So no gym this week YET.

Cooler weather has come to greet southern Indiana! I can breathe again! I think today is the last really cool day (high of 76) and tomorrow we go back into the 80s again. As long as it's not humid, I can handle it!!! Chance of rain all weekend too. The gardens and crops need it!

Take care all. When I get my laptop up and running, I want to read your journals and catch up with all of you. I miss that!!! Happy 4th of July!
