and back at it

So I've gained weight, however I look really slim. This all has happened with months of intensive weight training. Muscle yay!

One thing though...I haven't watched my diet and I still feel flabby. I'm going to try to get my fat percentages down.

I'm BACKK!

New Goals

I want to go back down to 160 lbs by August 1st. I don't want to lose muscle in the process, so if I need to eat more, I will do so. My goal is to get rid of fat and look more toned.

Exercise plan:

I'll continue to go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week, but this time instead of doing 90 minutes of cardio like a crazy nut, I'll do a maximum of 40 minutes. Ideally, I'll do half an hour each time I go to the gym. In addition to the cardio, I will continue to lift weights.

My legs are very strong, I work on them all the time. The strength I have gained since starting weight training has been immense. I can now squat 90 lbs and leg press 230 I never thought that would be possible. I'll continue to make my leg workouts challenging.

Although my legs are strong, I have a small problem... the rest of my body is not up to par. My arms are not too strong, and my back...forget about it. It's difficult for me to do weight-assisted pull ups. Another one of my goals is to push myself to work on these parts of my body. I'll be lifting regularly to make sure that my entire body is strong.

Diet:

I'll give more preference to protein in my diet. I'm not going to do an Atkin's-type carb-free diet, but I'll switch over to whole grains if I can, and avoid too much bread or rice. I'll aim for 1500 calories a day, however if I'm feeling tired because of the gym, I'll add more until I find the right amount of calories I need to be energized through the workout. There is nothing worse than going to the gym with the best intentions, but feeling drained and hungry, and not being able to finish your workout.

Post Brazil...post spring break and post college graduation: I'm back full swing!!!!! :D

So, I exercised a lot before my trip to Brazil, and I came back exactly the same weight. I was surprised that I didn't really gain any weight, since I ate a lot over there and drank a lot of alcohol. Every night I was drinking something, which is something I'm not used to at all.

I had a lot of rice and beans in Brazil, which is not a novelty for me since I eat all of that stuff all of the time here in the US. The only difference in my diet in Brazil and the United States was all of the fruit I was eating. Every morning I'd have a papaya, watermelon, and some other fruits that I can't even name in English. I'd also drink a lot of natural juices, which by the way if you ever go to the north of Brazil, you'll drink juices you'd never think of. Things that I'll miss that I'll never have over here: Acerola, cajú (cashew) juice and coconut water. Oh how I miss it. Another thing that I had a lot of were açaí and granola bowls...which are loaded in sugar, but they are very good for you. Lastly, the only major difference in diet was the palm oil I had in all of my food.

I'll miss the fresh food I ate over and can't wait to go back.

I guess the way to stay fit without effort is eat tons of fruits and freshly squeezed juice. It sure did counter all of the fried food I ate :D lol

Anyways...as soon as I got to the United States, I joined a gym because I felt like I needed to tone up, and my treadmill, and weights at home just weren't doing it. I've been going to the gym at least 3 to 5 days a week for a couple of months now. I have not lost weight, in fact, I've gained 7 lbs since coming back from Brazil.

My legs are rock hard, so I know the muscle I've gained has something to do with it, however I'm not satisfied. I feel like I need to reduce my body fat percentage. I do cardio and weight training (heavy weights!) most of the week, however, I've allowed myself to eat whatever I want since I've been exercising so much. The cardio component of my workout has been at least 20 minutes to up to 90 minutes when I have a lot of energy and I do at least half an hour of lifting each time I go to the gym. I'm going to change my eating habits to bring the flab down, and show the muscle underneath.

Yesterday I began to count calories once again. I want to make sure I have enough energy to lift and get through at least 30 minutes of cardio daily. My extreme 1200 calorie diet won't work for me this time, so I'm going to try 1500/1600. I want to have energy and not burn out at the gym.

I weigh 170 :-o yes, 170 right now...when I came back from Brazil I weighed 162. I don't look fatter because a lot is muscle..but now I have a new goal to get my body fat % down. Perhaps losing 10 lbs of fat would be just what I need...however, when you diet and do cardio, your body eats your muscle too. I don't want to lose my muscle, so I'll give preference to meats and high protein choices. If I'm noticing that I'm losing too much muscle, I'll eat more. Let's see how this goes.

Goal...160...new picture to come in a month.

August 1st...let's see where I get :)

Company over for dinner....

I worked out this morning. Yay go me! A whole strenuous hour of sculpting with the firm. My legs are going to be killing me once again tomorrow.

This morning I made myself a shake for breakfast. It had papaya, tsp of flaxseed oil, some sort of protein powder and vanilla soy milk. (it's normally pretty good, but the flaxseed made it taste like crap :P yuk!) ~300 cals

Afterworkout snack: Plain yogurt with a bit of cereal in it (didn't want to use jam) ~150

Lunch: A can of tuna with a tablespoon of plain yogurt, with a slice of potato bread and an apple ~300 (whoever said that yogurt can replace mayo was seriously disturbed. my tuna salad tasted horrible!!!! The whole morning has been a yucky food day)

I'm at around 700 calories today and I will have company over tonight. We are going to have lasagna with the works....ground beef and tons of ricotta & mozzarella cheese...Bread....Cake....

I don't want to OD since I will weigh in tomorrow. (I snuck in a peek yesterday and I'm down 2 lbs! but it's not official hehe) Yesterday was very hard for me...I stayed hungry..I went to bed hungry...Today since I got my work out I'm going to be realistic, this will be a big meal. I know that I can easily have 1000 calories in the lasagna alone...My goal is to not pass 1000 calories on dinner tonight. Giving me a grand total of 1700/1800 calories today. Not too bad...I can do it!

My biggest challenges now are:

1.) Figuring out much of everything is in the lasagna to count the calories

2.) Controlling my mouth tonight around that cake (I'm taking a small piece and no more!)

Haha....I just needed to rant!

I'm hungryyyy

Okay so my mom cooked one of my favorite dishes today. I measured my food...I didn't go overboard at all....

Problem?

I'M STARVING!!!!! LOL. I just wanted to eat more and more and more until I get full. Ahh the thing I hate about cutting back is that it takes a while for your body to get used to running with less food. I know I'm going to feel hungry every day for the next 2 weeks. I've had 1400 cals today...I need something sweet...If I don't get something sweet I'm going to be suicidal...I'm going to take a spoon of nutella and if I can't stand it any more I'm going to just going to eat my carrots and tomatos haha!! It'll cap me off at 1500 for the day...

No workout today...My body was just too sore from the lunges from before. Maybe I'll get some abdominal work in today. Tomorrow will definitely be a hardcore sweat day! lol

The good part? I drank like a gallon of water yesterday...and I'm heading the same way today...

I'm sticking to it...i'm a little miserable, but I'm going all the way!

So far so good

I've been good. Yesterday I had 1700 calories and worked out. I did the firm (my legs are killing me because of all of the lunges!!!) Today I'll probably have around 1600 calories. I got to work out earlier (did this really fun dance work out). My legs are still killing me from yesterday. I'm planning on easing my calories down a little bit more everyday until I get to 1300-1400.

I've introduced flaxseed oil into my diet. It's rich in omega 3's and I think it's supposed to reduce inflammation in the body....Let's see how that goes.....

What a beautiful day today. I went outside in a tank top to my porch to tan haha...it's warmer than usual for an October day.

New Motivation

I've been finding it very hard to focus lately. I have a new motivation to help me get the weight off.

I bought express jeans last week and they didn't fit me! They were pretty expensive too. My goal is to get into them in the next three months. Small size 10's here I come!

Thanks for getting me motivated Jen

Going to study abroad in a tropical country...cc time again!

Okay, so when I started here on January 1st, I weighed 177 and managed to lose 20 lbs. I looked fabulous! I stopped counting calories about 4 months ago and during that time a lot has happened. I was on vacation, my great grandmother passed away, I had a tough internship in which I worked 100 hour weeks and didn't have control over my food. During this time I managed to slowly gain 7/10 lbs (Not a definite number because my weight fluctuates a lot from one day to the next). I'm still wearing my smaller clothes, but my belly is getting noticeably bigger. I'm going to start watching what I eat again and tomorrow, I'm going to officially start counting my calories.

I have been in the workout mood, so I've been good about getting exercise, but now I'm going to take control of what goes into my mouth..lol

My big reasons for losing weight:

1.) I'm studying abroad in Brazil in January, which means I have 4 months to shape up!

2.) It'll be summer over there when I go, so I need to look good in my bathing suits

3.) There is no way I'm letting my belly grow more than it has!

I'm at my goal weight

Okay so I've taken a break from CC...I haven't been over eating...(Prob about 2000 cals a day), but I haven't been a saint either. I've had tons of cake lately. So I've been weighing myself...and apparently when I eat much more, I lose weight!! I'm finally at my goal weight. So far I've lost 20 lbs since January :-) Go me!!! It's been going down a bit weekly...so I can finally say...I'M OUT OF THAT PLATEU!!!!! :-D

As for my next goal...I want to lose 7/10 lbs more and tone up!...well..maybe it's not feasible...but I'll be doing exercise again....I won't be stressing the numbers too much..

I hope I don't ruin it when I leave on vacation in a week and a half xP I'll be gone for 2 weeks....eating tons of fried goodies and candy hehe.

Ehhh...Plateaus!!! I hate them

Okay, no matter what I try, my weight doesn't wanna go down!!! The whole month I've been at 160. Started at 160 went down to 158.6 and went back up to 160. I don't understand why!!! I've been eating 1600 calories daily/sometimes 1200 daily. I've also been doing my work outs...Ehh...I'm still keeping at it. It seems like my body is happy right here...but NOOOO I'm not giving up!!!! I hope that by the end of April I can go down a couple of lbs...Do I dare say 155? The weight used to come off 2 lbs a week!! I understand it does slow down but it's at a complete stop! You'd think I'd lose even 1/2 lb...gosh!!!
