Motivation/Inspiration

My sister and dad sent chocolate from Germany. Now who in their right mind can resist that? Add: I didn't run as much last week as I have in the past. All that makes for a deadly combination resulting in weight gain. lol

Weight: 172

But, I am working on getting back on top of the wagon. I have signed up for a "health coach" through work. Hopefully with the help of a coach I'll be able to work on eating healthier foods.

And tonight I am going to an informational Team in Training meeting, hoping to sign up with them to train for next May's 1/2 marathon. Ultimately I would like to use them to inspire me to run the full next year in the fall. We'll see.

Dreams

According to my weight log I should reach my goal of 165 on November 20th. Well, I won't hold my breath, but it sure would be great! The scale was kind to me this morning, so I am in good spirits.

Weight: 168

I ran a tempo run yesterday. It about killed me, but I managed a 9:20 min/mile for 3 miles (28 min) even though I walked several times. My short term goal is to get that under 9:09 min/mile (which represents my fastest mile I ran during a virtual 1 mile race a few months ago). My long term goal is to be able to run it in around an 8:30 min mile pace.

I believe it is ok to have dreams...it is that what keeps us going! :o)

Over the last two days I have been watching what I am eating and my choices of food haven't been nearly as bad as last week. That's a step in the right direction.

Weight: 170.5

We had a health fair at work yesterday where they check your cholesterol, etc and do a body compostion and BMI measurement (which is done with a small electronic device, nothing fancy or too acruate).

My bloodwork came back good, low cholesterol, glycose, etc. It wasn't as good as at the last health fair in January, but still good to very desirable. My BMI was 25.13, which puts me in the overweight category by .14 *sigh*, but 9 months ago I was at 26.12.

What is not good is that my Body Compostition (how much fat I have compared to the amount of lean body mass) is still very high. However, I went from 30.90% to 27.30%, so again it's moving in the right direction. I am still in the "poor" range, but I am inching closer towards "fair", which starts at 27%.

Re-directing

With the 1/2 marathon out of the way I have become way too relaxed in the food department and the scale this morning shows it.

Weight: 171

Even though I ran 8 miles on Saturday I ate way more than I burned. I need to stop that!!! My next race is November 27, which is a 4 mile Turkey Trot. My goal is to race a sub 10 minute per mile race and I won't be able to do that if I let the poundage come back.

So, starting today I am climbing back onto the weight loss wagon, heck I might just strap myself in the reigns and give it all I got. The only think I have to loose is weight, right?

Columbus 1/2 marathon

Stepped on the scales this mornng:

Weight: 169

Can't ask for much more than that! I am have reached my interim goal and now only have 5 lbs more to go!

I had a great race today. The weather was cold, but to my liking. I had three separate finishing goals in mind:

Goal 1: finish under 2 hours and 25 minutes

Goal 2: finish under 2 hours and 20 minutes

Goal 3 (and least likely possible): finish under 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Mind you my personal record (PR) for that distance is 2:27:28, which was last year in August.

My finish time was 2:17:24...a 10:30 minute mile. I am very happy about that. I shaved off 10 minutes of my PR. I am currently on cloud 9! My next goal for my next half marathon (either Feb 15 '09 or May 2 '09) is to tone my upper body and loose that last 5 lbs.

The hubby took this picture of me prior to the race starting.

I am looking forward to the Flying Feather 4 miler in November. My goal there is to come in under 40 minutes.

1/5 lbs to go

Finally, under 170...woot!

Weight: 169.5

According to the BMI chart, once I go under 169 lbs I will no longer be considered overweight (thank goodness I am tall). That first goal is so close. My second one is to drop my fat percentage down a bit. It's currently at 28%, and with 169.5 lbs on the scale my BMI is 25.

I have been at this since January of '07, and finally I am so close.

The Columbus Marathon Expo opens today. I am excited to get my running bib and hope I can find something nice (shirt) to buy.

<strike>I won't be stepping on the scale this weekend</strike>...ok<strike>, I will be stepping on the scale this weekend, but I won't be caring what it is</strike>...*sigh* alright, I will care about my weight, but won't let it stop me. I need to make sure I eat well and drink a lot!

To everyone that is running this weekend....GOOD LUCK!

Steady & nervous

My weight has not changed at all, which is strange, because I usually go up and down a pound or two.

Weight: 171.5

I guess that's a good thing though*sigh*. I really shouldn't try to loose any weight just before the race, but the vain person in me really wants to. Go figure.

Today I'll be hopping on the stationary bike for 30 to 45 min and mabye toss some weights around. After that I'll try to be resting my beaten body. But, HA! that's a joke. The kids won't let me. ;)

I am starting to get really nervous about the race. I have run the distance 7 times already so I am not sure why. Maybe I am setting my goals too high this time around and in turn set myself up for disappointment.

To make matters worse I had a crappy run yesterday...3 miles...with side stitches starting at 1/2 mile into the run. That was not fun, and I really wasn't pushing it. I just need to forget about it and move on...

My last 4 miler

...before the Columbus Marathon (I am running the 1/2 though).

Weight: 171.5

The run today felt ok. It doesn't happen too often, but the last 2 days my allergies have been kicking my butt, so I took it slow during my run.

I have been doing good with my eating. No junk food has crossed my lips (or into my ears nor nose) since Sunday. It's not easy, but when I have a craving, which usually hits me right after I eat...go figure...I talk to the hubby about it. Our joke is "drink water", because that's what I used to tell him.

I think the key is to not think about it, but instead to do something, like the dishes, or vacuum, something that preoccupies you.

Weekend: Bad food choices

Weight: 172.5

Over the weekend I consumed way too much junk food. And even though I ran 6 miles on Saturday I don't think I came out ahead calorie wise.

How disappointing! *sigh*

I told the hubby last night that I needed his help. He looked at me questionably and I told him "Help me not to eat any junk food this week until the 1/2 marathon (which is the 19th)."

He immediately got this "omg I hate this look" on his face, but I told him that I wouldn't get mean should he try to stop me from eating crappy food. He asked for that in writing, which of course I didn't give him! lol

So today I am sitting at my desk at work and I get CCed in an e-mail from him which was addressed to a good co-worker of mine and also an admin (that always has candy on her desk grrr) telling them that I am not to have any junk food! (He works were I work, just a different floor and knows both of them).

So, hopefully my food choices this week will be much better than over the weekend. I want to do well in the 1/2 marathon and need to have a 'clean' body to do that.

Ran 3 miles and lifted some weights at lunch today. It all went well.

Comments: Overall good, solid run, perhaps my last 4 miler before the 1/2 marathon? Tomorrow is rest day (I might hop on the bike though like last night)and I am not sure how far I am suppose to run Saturday. Sometimes ignorance can be bliss. ;)

<<<9 more days until the Columbus Marathon & 1/2 Marathon>>>

Time: 10am

Weather: 55, sunny

Clothes: Old MiT shirt, Izuma Shorts

Shoes: Saucony ProGrid Guide ( 59.43 miles)

Distance: 4

Run Time: 40:11

Split: 10:03

Course: To Goodale Park and back.
