February 16th - March 16th - I won the biggest loser contest at work. I went from 217 to 208 in the month period.. Yay!! I took my winnings and bought fruit and vegetables and cut them up. Then brought them in for everyone to share today.

Well, I have been eating on average 1700 calories a day and exercising about 300-400 calories off. our weigh in yesterday showed me losing 5 lbs in 7 days. I know thats not what is considered healthy, but its very hard for me to add more calories in and eat healthy foods.
I have been trying to follow doctor's orders to eat only 1 piece of meat a day by splitting that 1 piece of meat in half and having like half a chicken breast and half a turkey sandwich. loading up on more salads, more fruits and vegetable snacks, and almonds. I go back to the doctor today to see what he thinks of my progress.
as far as the contest goes. I am on top with 5 lbs. the 2nd closest to me was 3 lbs and the other 2 barely lost a pound. I think these 2 might be quitting the diet despite what they say to me and the other 1. So I at least have 1 person competing with me and that should be enough to motivate me to continue eating healthier and creating the calorie deficit I need.
I thought that giving up cokes would be really tough on me, but I think the increased energy from eating right and exercising might be offsetting the lack of caffeine and sugar. I am wondering when the cravings will get tougher. We ate Chick Fil a twice and chinese food once, but besides that the last 9 days have been salads. Even the chick fil a was grilled chicken on a wrap with about a table spoon of caesar dressing. I have had 3 cokes total in those 9 days also. for someone who was drinking 2 or 3 a day. 3 cokes in 9 days is incredible.
anyways, its been 9 days and I am hoping the next 21 goes just as smoothly.
this weekend we are going out of town, that might make it a lil tougher as we are going to my parents house and they are not good eaters. lots of baked goods, sugars.. will be a struggle and I can see me leaving the house and going somewhere to get healthier food.

today friends of mine at work started a weight loss program. the person to lose the most weight % per body weight in a month. Kind of like biggest loser. We have a scale and an impartial judge to do weigh ins and send out an email every monday on how we are measuring up to 1 another. we put 5$ into a pot and the person who has the highest weight loss % by next 16th, wins the money.
so its on and we are very competitive people, so I expect to see some good #s. if we do well enough we may continue on. We will see!

Terrible weekend..... Wife is 8 mos pregnant and then gets sick. shes down for the count on friday and saturday, so I am taking care of her and the baby. Then I have to leave Sunday and drive to SC. 3 hours away to take care of some paperwork on Monday. drive back from SC to NC on Monday. The baby gets sick and is throwing up and running a fever.
So I ate very poorly food on the run. fast food, lots of sodas.... just not good stuff
I managed to only eat 2000 calories on monday, but I cant even hardly recall everything between friday to sunday.
Back on track though this tuesday.. logging my food and planning on hitting the Gym. I havent even dared to step on the scales for fear of disappointment.

Pretty proud of my day yesterday. I managed 1475 calories and 386 calories burned from exercise. Definitely my best day of 11 so far and I hope I can find more low calorie foods like i did for this day to get everyday similar to this. I had no hunger pains and when I ate, I was able to fill up completely. I had no sweets and drank only 1 soda for the day.

Things are crazy.. in 5 weeks time my baby boy will be born. My wife is exhausted everyday.. Christmas is coming... my 15 mos old daughter is becoming more and more defiant and clumsy, work has me learning new stuff in class.. my days are regimented and long. I don't know if I am coming or going now days and what used to be routine for me.. i dont even have time for anymore.. Chores around the house have doubled for me , because my wife is too exhausted from work to do anything.. not to mention uncomfortable. so I am cooking dinner while she feeds our daughter.
With all this going on, I decide to start exercising and trying to eat better. My first week, I tried to keep it under 2k calories but not vary my food habits by too much with the exception of trying to drink no more than 1 coke a day. I think I managed to do pretty well and even lost a lil weight. the start of week 2 has been even tougher.. because now I am trying to curb my calories a lil more to produce more results. I can only work out 3 days this week unlike last week where I worked 5 days. I may work out on the weekend to make up for the loss of 2 days. It will help cause I can take my daughter with me since my gym has a daycare and that will give my wife some time off to relax and collect her thoughts.
Another thing that has been going on is my knees. My knees have been creaking really bad and I am thinking I may have to go to the doctor to see if there is something I can take. I have heard older folks talking about the fluid in their joints lessening in age and that creating creaking and pain. Its painful for me to walk up stairs now and I can feel my knees heating up when I do elliptical or bicycle training. I may have to make an appointment with the doctors before Christmas and see whats going on.
Anyways, I need to go do some work..
